Jaclyn & Chris' Engagement Trip Dining Review ~ 01/12 Riverside Mill

The macaroni looks delish, but I get upset if my food is not steaming hot when I get it in a restaurant. Sorry you didn't have a perfect meal!

I just finally caught up on all these reviews, some great restaurants, and I plan on eating at some of those in January when we take my parents for their first trip. Thanks for the great pictures, I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this saga, and congrats on such a magical engagement story!

i've been to chefs de france as well and had their mac. I thought it was good but it had tasted like it had been sitting for a while :/ oh well i love that place tho! so cute :) great review!

Too bad about the rushed service at Chefs de France. We have a lunch reservation there in April - do they still serve the macaroni then? I would like to try it. Too bad it wasn't piping hot when you got it. The dessert looked delicious!

Excited to hear about Kona Cafe! I hope you got Tonga Toast ;)

Thanks for the latest review. I always want my food as hot as possible. Much to my DHs embarassment I always want to send back food that isn't piping hot

I'm enjoying your reviews. I have not yet been to Chef de France but do have it on my list of places to try. :thumbsup2

That's ok. It's going happening every once in awhile. At least the majority of the meals this trip were amazing! :thumbsup2

Yes, they serve the mac & cheese at lunch. You can even get the mac & cheese as part as a three course pre-fixed menu at lunch.

I sure did! ::yes::

I'm glad your enjoying my reviews! :goodvibes

The snaps were delicious . I wish if I could get a chance visit there. :goodvibes
But right now the cuisines are finger leaking one. :thumbsup2 One should surely
go for that.

After finishing up our sandwiches we did some shopping around DTD. After awhile I started getting a craving for ice cream so we made a pit stop at Ghirardelli’s.

I ordered a Gold Rush Sundae minus the whipped cream & toppings.

There is nothing better than vanilla ice cream with peanut butter and hot fudge.:goodvibes

Ok...that looks really good...but....I have a confession to make... :rolleyes1

*ahem* My name is Meg...and I am an ice cream-aholic...but....I really don't like Ghirardelli’s :scared1: :o

Every time I've had a sundae there they look fantastic, smell fantastic...but I find the hot fudge sauce to be...gritty? I don't know. But to me it just isn't good. :sad2:

That being said....you are making me want to try again Jaclyn :P Because honestly I'm drooling over that pic ;)

mmm reading these make me hungry and want to go back! (it's FREEZING here atm) can't wait till the next review :)

I understand what your mean about the texture of the hot fudge. It's not at smooth as say the Beaches & Cream hot fudge. ::yes::

I'm glad you want to give it another try. Us ice cream-aholics got to stick together. :goodvibes

Dining reviews all ways make me hungry.

It's freezing up here too. What happened to summer?

Chris and I knew we’d wanted to do another breakfast at Kona Café this trip. It’s become our favorite breakfast spot in Disney.

We’re not huge character people but were big breakfast eaters so it was nice to find a great non-character breakfast place in Disney. So thank you fellow DISer’s for teaching us about Kona Café! :goodvibes

I knew before we even arrived at Kona Café that I had to get the Tonga Toast, as I had passed on it on our previous visit this trip. I also ordered a cup of coffee. Why can’t other establishments in Disney sell coffee this good? Why? :confused3

Tonga Toast $10.99

I love my Tonga Toast but I really wish they had the option of a smaller portion of it. I find it really yummy at first, but by the end it is just too sweet to finish. I think it would be a great addition to the Big Kahuna platter (in case anyone from Kona Cafe's managment team is reading.)

Chris had his usual and ordered the Big Kahuna and a coffee. He is such a creature of habit. He believes if you find something you like, why change it?

Once again Chris and I thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Kona Café. I find the service for breakfast is always top notch and the food is always consistently of good quality. Of course, I can’t forget about the Kona coffee….YUM!

Yay Tonga Toast!!! So yummy! I know they offer it at Captain Cooks for half the price but I wonder if it's as good? I'm going to try this in April so I'll let you know :thumbsup2 The big kahuna looks like so much food. I love a big breakfast in the morning but not sure I could stomach all that. I also didn't know the coffee was so good at Kona. Another thing I will have to try next time. Great update! Keep 'em coming

We LOVE Kona. And I agree about the Tonga Toast. They really should have a half order option. It is sooo good, but nearly impossible to finish!

I've never tried the Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks. I read reviews where they say it's the same as Kona's Tonga Toast and others where they say it greasier. :confused3

I haven't tried Tonga Toast yet but it looks HUGE :)

It's very big, but delicious!:thumbsup2

oooh my sis really wants to go there for breakfast, it looks yummy! :)

It's very yummy, definitely worth the stop!

I'm glad it's just not me.

The plan for tonight was to go the Polynesian to watch Wishes from the beach at 8pm then go have a late dinner at 8:40pm at Ohana’s. Well, we got to the Poly around 7 and I was starving. I knew I would either grab a dole whip from Captain Cooks or grab sushi at Kona’s Sushi Bar. As you can tell, Kona’s sushi won.

I ordered the Volcano Roll and a coke.

Volcano Roll $13.99

I have two words for everyone….SUSHI HEAVEN! :cloud9:

Total with TIW: $16.80

Up Next: Dinner at Ohana’s

After watching wishes on the beach with a delicious Pina Colava from the pool bar we headed upstairs to Ohana’s. This is by far Chris’ favorite restaurant on property. He would be so hard broken if we made a trip to Disney without stopping here for dinner.

We checked in at 8:40pm and were seated by 8:50pm at window seat with a view of the castle. :cloud9:

Starters

As much as I miss the scallop potatoes they used to serve, I still really enjoy the noodles.
