Jacksonville Beach?? St Augustine?? Where to stay??

We are going to spend one night at the beach before we check in to POP Century. I was looking at a map and I think that Jacksonville beach or St Augustine would be our best bet. Is anyone familiar with this area?? Any recommendations on which hotel we should stay at or are neither of these places good ideas?? Help me out!!

We are so excited, we are staying there for a week after going to disney for a week. We rented a condo for the week, but I know some good places show up on priceline. You can check biddingfortravel.com for some ideas and reviews.

We've stayed at the Hampton Inn and the Holiday Inn both on St Augustine beach and would recommend both. We'll be there the 2nd week of July. Must eat at the Sunset Grille and get an ice/custard cup from Rita's!
