You would also have a lot of angry guests during the weeks before and after the overlay due to the attraction being closed for instalation and the removal.
Between the Halloween parties, and the Christmas parties, and Thanksgiving weekend, there are enough things going on in the world to attract guests during that time frame. A NBC overlay is not going to bring enough guests to warrent the cost.
Well, you can't really say that as there is no way to prove either way whether it would bring in guests or not. Without doing it, we just don't know.
As for the shutting down, most of the times I have seen HM shutdown for Refurb is either September (to be ready for October) or in January. People will always complain about shutdown rides... the trick is to limit the schedule... so having Haunted Mansion down is ok; having Space Mountain, Big THunder Mountain, POTC and HM down is BAD.
As I said, differences of opinion. Neither of us is going to convince the other they are correct and unfortunately, the only way to do so is to actually do it, which we know ISNT ever going to happen.
I guess my point is that Disney keeps raising prices while cutting services. It's already straining many people. Since 1998, ticket prices have more than doubled. It took the first 27 years to reach that level in the first place (although part of that was the A-E ticket system). The ticket growth over the last decade has been unprecedented. If it continues this way (and so far signs are pointing to yes) Disney will start to price themselves out as people won't view as high the value for dollars spent. Things like these special overlays increase that perceived value.
Hey I'm not the only one that feels this way about Disney's prices for the current value... Pete has ranted on it numerous times. Sadly for those of us who go to Orlando, Management at Disney World seems to be far inferior to the management at
Disneyland. Just my humble opinion.
