Can anyone provide feedback on the J.W. Marriott at the Grand Lakes Resort?

Thanks!

Haven't stayed there, but was there recently for a meeting.

It's a stunningly beautiful property - 4 star. My wife and I thought it was actually nicer than the 5 star Ritz Carlton with which it''s connected.

Beautiful pool, lobby, restaurants, etc. Nice golf course.

The location isn't particularly convenient but it's midway between the 417 and the beach line, 528, so getting around is pretty easy.

I stayed there last October for 3 days with my company for a meeting and it was absolutely gorgeous... The views of the pools were amazing! The rooms were the nicest I'd ever stayed in...the bar area was cozy, and the food was great! - The location isn't close to much of anything...but it's all good when you step into the beautiful lobby!! They shared transportation with the Ritz...but when I talked to people at the Ritz..they said the JW was just as good, if not better!!

It's a vacation in and of itself. The room was beautiful, the bathtub alone was worth the price of admission. They have several lovely restaurants and a nice bar in the lobby area. The pool(s) are incredible, and attached by a long lazy river. I made it a point to swim every morning and every night after full days of meeting - what a pleasure! Let me tell you, I'm staying for a week in the Grand Floridian, and if it weren't for the location issue, I'd prefer to stay at the J.W. Marriott.

We got the JW on priceline for $115/night. What a gorgeous place. We were on the 23rd floor overlooking the pool area/golf course. Very nice accomodations. They share the spa services with the Ritz Carlton.

I was just going to post this question also! We are staying at the JW at the end of Oct. My DH has a conference there so we are tagging along. The pictures of it look beautiful. So glad to hear so many people have great reviews of the place.

During the day I will be driving the kids and I to Disney. How long will it take me to get there from JW? Thanks!

It will probably take 20 minutes to get to the parks from the Grande Lakes resort. You can get onto John Young Parkway, follow it south for about 5 miles, then get onto the 417/Greenway, which is a toll road ($1.25, I think?). Signs will take you straight in to whichever park area you want to see. Tha advantage to this route is that you are going against the dominant flow of traffic in the mornings to the parks and in the afternoon from the parks.

Also, I find it funny that everyone thinks that Grande Lakes is not near anything. It is actually about 3 miles from SeaWorld. (http://maps.google.com/maps?spn=0.0...2837&daddr=sea+harbor+drive,+orlando+fl&hl=en)
