J & T's Wishes Wedding 5/5/12 SB/SBP/BW *Wedding & Aulani HM TR Complete!*

Ok so DJ help is needed!!

Somehow I didn't think of this before (losing my mind I swear) but someone else's PJ sparked my mind --

Sooo I already have a list of songs I really want played. I'm not going to lie, it's extensive. I want all of our slow songs to be wedding songs of couples at our wedding, I love Britney (don't judge :rotfl:), 80's, country. Really a mix. I really pretty much want our DJ to stick to my list, not let people make requests, etc. I also really don't want them interacting with our guests. Obviously can make announcements, transition things/ get attention for cake cutting, dances, etc. But I don't want them getting on the dance floor calling everyone to dance or doing "cheesy" antics.

Sooo per recommendations on here, I looked at DJ Chuck's website, and he's already booked. I emailed him to see if he was booked for me- nope! He's booked for a non-Disney wedding. (eek!) So I emailed Maxine and asked her the process for selecting a DJ, if we get a say, etc. She wrote me back today and said :
"Yes, if there is someone specific, just let me know. If you are truly looking for an MC who will just adhere to your play list, we can do that as well. Chuck Johnson is a great bet for you if you just want little interaction and lots of music!"

soo, knowing that Chuck is already booked, who else should I request to Maxine??? Please help! I'm slightly OCD about music and know the music can really make or break a wedding! Opinions needed please!! :goodvibes

Hmm well there are definitely some options out there. I have the names of a few DJ's but I am at work and I don't have them on me. I may not be able to get them to you very soon as we are leaving for our disney christmas tomorrow. I can try to get them together for you though ASAP.

Teresa

Tricia,

Not sure if you saw this or not, but Andrea posted this on my pj. Hope it helps.

I don't think he was "in your face" at all. Now, there is a picture of him leading a line dance but I don't remember him being out there so either he was pretty camoflauged or I was somewhere else. Either way, we met with him before and he was really accommadating and I really liked him!

Take a deep breath. It will all work out. :) Is it as gray and icky in CT as it is in Boston today? Yuck!

Snuggle Goonie and relax! :)

I was just going to post this :) Steve was really nice. Be very specific though. He asked if we wanted requests and I said that was fine with me...well, one of DH's brothers kept requesting Dave Matthews! Oh well! But he played every song on my To Play list (including my Gator fight song!!) and he didn't play any songs from my Do Not Play List. And I think that if you were straight up and told him that you didn't really want any of the trying to make guests dance, he wouldn't!

Thanks Teresa, Bethie & Andrea!
Teresa I know you're off to the world with your DF, hope you have a great time! Bethie & Andrea thank you for the suggestion for DJ Steve, I did email Maxine back and tell her I already confirmed Chuck is not available and had a good recommendation for Steve. We'll see what she says! As long as they will work with me and listen to what I'm looking for, I'm okay with that! :goodvibes Hopefully it works out, thank you!!

Just wanted to say glad you got some advice about Steve and the DJ situation. I am positive it will work out. I think pretty much anything you tell your DJ they will listen to and abide by. Hope Steve works out- let us know.

I hope you figure out things with the DJ. I know for chuck we had an extensive form to fill out and we were able to talk to him several times to go over things so hopefully that goes the same way for all them. With that being said he had an area to put in specific song requests and it asked questions regarding how much interaction we wanted with the guests. I am sure you will find someone who will give you everything you are looking for!

Thanks Courtenay, Maxine told me she would put in a request for Steve so hopefully he is availble! Love my disbride's help with this stuff! :grouphug:

That's good to hear! Oddly I hadnt really thought about it, I knew I had my songs and just assumed anyone would let me do it. hahaha So hopefully I am right. Never booked a DJ before so I'm glad I'm on here to make me think to start asking questions and looking :goodvibes

Checking in!! Josh weighed our STD's and they did require $.64.. booo but 65 stamps for .20 were only $13- not terrible I guess, could be worse!!
We have started hearing back that people have gotten them and I get so excited with each person that gets theirs, everyone is saying they love them! It makes me so happy!! :goodvibes We have a few people out in CA we sent to, no word from them yet, but everyone in CT has gotten them, as well as confirmation in Boston, NYC, Chicago, DC, and FL! They're making their way! :lovestruc

We get our next room block update on 1/5 so I'm excited to see if more people booked their rooms! Only a few more weeks!

What is everyone's holiday plans?? We split the holidays which works out, we always have so it's not a big deal now to our families. We go to DF's cousins house for Christmas Eve, his entire large family is there (about 40 of them!), we have dinner and drinks. They do a secret santa also but we're not participating this year:headache:

Christmas day we normally go to DF's sisters house to open presents with his nieces for breakfast (they live less than 2 miles from us) but this year we are doing dinner with them instead. We have Christmas with my immediate family at my sister's house. My sister asked me to get my nephew some fancy high chair this year. Not very exciting for him, but he's got so many toys as it is and he's easily entertained by paper and boxes alone! Love seeing his cutie little face (he has big polish cheeks to die for) ;)

My "dish" to bring for both families is my homemade pierogies. I use Farmer's Cheese and make the dough myself. IMO, they're pretty tasty! Let me know if you ladies would like the recipe!

Hope everyone has a great Christmas!!! :goodvibes
It won't be white for us (:( ) but it sure will be merry!! :santa:

YAY for the STDs arriving! So fun!

We aren't doing too much for the holidays! We are having 11 people over for dinner which will be crazy for us but we are excited!!

Homemade pierogies sound delicious! You NEED to post that recipe!!

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Thanks Faith! I love your e-pics, I think this one in your signature is my favorite!! :goodvibes

11 people! That sounds like a good time! We had 8 for Thanksgiving at my house and that was enough for me! Whenever we have people over I take note of things we don't have that I need to register for!

Our family Pierogi recipe, for anyone who wants it! :thumbsup2
To prepare, you will need:
Flat surface
Rolling Pin
Flour to spread on rolling surface
Coffee Mug

For the dough:1 egg
1/2 cup milk
2 cups flour (best to use fresh flour)
1/2 tsp salt

For Filling 1 egg
3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups of Farmer's Cheese (can get in the deli section at groc store)

I always make the filling first, then the dough. The more you "handle" the dough, the harder it will get and harder to work with. Roll out the dough and use a coffee cup upside down to cut the dough into rounds (this will be your pocket for the filling)

Start a boiling pot of water with salt, wait until the water is boiling. Fill the rounds of dough with the cheese filling, fold in half (pocket the cheese in the dough) and grip the sides together/press together with your fingers. Drop the pierogi in the boiling water. When it floats to the top, it's done. If you are not going to eat them right away, store them not touching or with wax paper between them, as they will stick together and the dough may rip when you pull them apart. Keep them refrigerated if you are saving them for later, then saute with butter and optional onions when you're ready to eat.

The process is actually very easy once you get the hang of it! :)

I also went ahead and started a Disney HM registry today for Aulani! We're now registered at 4 places so hopefully that's not overwhelming for our guests! We've lived together for a few years now, so we already have a lot of things and there isn't much at each place. I'm hoping it gives people options!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE family recipes....I just got done baking dozens and dozens of cookies, so I'm not in the mood to get back into the kitchen, but then I saw your post and you're making me want to go and cook :) The Disney HM Registry is such a great idea....especially for Aulani! You guys will be able to do so much ridiculously fun stuff, I'm so excited for you!

hahaha too funny! I made about 6 dozen and they were yummo! :) I love baking and cooking! Thank you!! :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I am so glad to have a 4 day work-week this week! AND we're allowed to wear jeans for the rest of the year (even if its only 4 days, i'll take it!) ;) it's the small things!!

Hoping to hear back from Laura and Maxine soon with the updated BEO and the few floral dept changes I want to make. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

I am a big scrapbooker and printed about 300 pictures today and spent the day puting it all in my big book! DF thinks I'm a crazy person, but I have a scrapbook for every year we've been together (I'll start on book #8 just next week!) craziness! I have all pictures/events from this year except for NYE, so if I can just make some time to get it all done I'll be a happy camper! (I make pages for everything we do- family bday parties, weddings we go to, when we got Goonie, got engaged, etc etc. I love looking through them over the years!) Every year they keep getting bigger and I anticipate this coming year being no different, really looking forward to 2012!! :lovestruc

I've missed quite a bit!! Your save the dates look awesome! We ordered ours Christmas Eve...hopefully we'll have them by early January.

The pierogies sound amazing!! I've only ever had mashed potato pierogies.

I'm so jealous! I always buy scrapbooking things with intention of making them because I want them so badly, but then I never sit down and do them!!

Thanks!! We ordered ours and got them within a week I'd say! It really forced me to make our list final and get everyones addresses together, made it feel like we're getting so close! yay! mmm yes potato pierogies are good too, the farmer's cheese is a little more sweet, you should try some! :)

you should totally just sit down one day and do a few pages, once you get going (and its not so overwhelming when youre only doing a page vs an entire book at a time etc) I even go to "scrapbooking parties" up here with my girls where we all bring our stuff and scrapbook with some wine, share supplies etc. It's a big stress reliever for me! :goodvibes

Tricia,

Hope you had a great holiday. Sounds like you did! And your pierogies sound awesome. I lived for 8 years in Chicago and love them!

I with Andrea on the scrapbooking. I buy all sorts of stuff and never get around to doing anything. I should take your advice and just sit down and do it! :)

Today I got an email from Maxine with a price for our "perfect bar".... prepare yourselves.... $60/person! :scared1:

yeah...... that's not happening.

I wrote her back almost immediately and asked for a breakdown (what each piece costs to make the $60 so we can see what we can remove). EEK!

NOT the news I was hoping for! :confused3
