J.Lewis May be In Running To Be DL Prez....

Well we can hope but I think it will go to George. Maybe he will take George's place in Paris if he gets the job, that would be a win/win.

The problem is when one person goes, they are replaced by someone else who may be better or worse than the original. :scared1:

One "runs for" the presidency of a major resort like DL (I presume that's DisneyLand?)...sounds fishy to me...never heard of a major corporation putting one of its premier business unit leadership jobs up for election!

Oops...I take it all back (and I'm going back to school to learn to read)...he's "in the running", not "running for"...I've been watching politics for too long...sorry all...

What do you all think would change if Jim Lewis left DVC and was replaced by someone else? Do you think DVC would no longer be profit/sales driven? Do you think Disney would suddenly give "free dining" to DVCers? Do you think we'd have free park admissions, or 50% ticket discounts?

Honestly, I think in today's business world, I think it would be pretty much the same.

I think you are right... not much change, but I am one who likes a turnover at the top after a while to have new blood flowing. Unless you have a miracle worker already. I think if a top level exec hasn't made a significant improvement in operations in 3-5 years then it is time for someone else to get a chance. Big bucks demand more than keeping a ship afloat. JMHO.

why is Lewis not liked? Seems like few people have nice things to say about him.

I have no idea why people don't like him. He doesn't seem a lot different from any other DVC Pres or VP we've had.

The day by day reservation process leveled the playing field between the small owners and the big owners. This was partially why we chose Disney Timeshares. The new seven-day-at-a-time reservations really puts the small owners at a disadvantage and allows owners with more than 7 days of points to walk their reservations through a highly desired time frame.

I don't dislike him, but I think this was a bad decision for me. I think it was a decision to reduce processing costs at the expense of the small owner.

Jim Lewis is the King of "Membership Enhancement", which usually means we get a bad deal. If he was made President of DL, I'd have to go back to DL before he ruined it. It's a great park. Just needs the technology enhanced which we still haven't seen him do at DVC.

Technology... excellent point. I have been floored by how far behind DVC has been compared to Motel 6 and all the other low-end lodging. I mean wireless, DVD, flat screen.... DVC is like in slow motion.

You know, he wasn't the first head of DVC to state they were working on the website and planned to offer online reservation capability. They still have to use Disney's IT dep't, as they (Disney) control the go.com and internal DVC/Disney reservation servers. And Disney is the main contractor for the Internet services offered at the resorts, DVC really can't make any moves, as far as resort improvements and infrastructure without Disney's consent, other than the flat screens and actual furnishings

I agree about the online services being ultimately destined by Disney, but Disney properties are way ahead of DVC properties when it comes to technology in the resorts.

How so? I haven't stayed cash anywhere except a few nights at POP and All-Stars since 1991. And they sure aren't ahead of DVC technology-wise.

I have to disagree... Disney has been way ahead with DVD players and wireless technology. Some DVC resorts just this year switched from VHS players to DVD players, and VB and HHS just this year finally installed wireless wan. We were a year behind Disney Moderates in this respect. Don't know about POP and ALL STARS though... Compare us to any other DELUXE accommodation and you will see the problem.
