Went in to return 2 t-shirts today..just bought them on Wednesday @ $6 each. Today, the SAME shirts are double , $12! I know the big Suit changes that took place meant some shaking up of the pricing structure and damage control but yikes! On the same note, the shirts are super thin (which is why I returned them), I didn't think they would last $6 worth let alone $12. I hope they can get their act together as it has been a staple store for me, but ever since they did away with the "sales" and coupon theory things have been undependable there. I do like all the bright colors out now tho!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience! That's a big price jump for a few days. They are going to have to get it under control over there quickly before they lose even more customers in the transition/confusion.

On a positive note, I bought a workout shirt there when I had a $10 coupon. I love it! It's nice & long, great since I'm tall, and has a nice curved shape. It's very flattering and not at all boxy like some shirts. Quick dry cotton fabric and not see through. You could wear it as a regular t-shirt because it doesn't feel or look any different.

Well they are coming back with sales/ coupons again so your $12 shirts will be 50% off, so $6. Same price and maybe this go round people won't be confused.........

No idea how that smilie is in my post! I don't really feel that way!

On another note they have $1 flip flops in all kinds of rainbow colors. Only 5 per person allowed to be purchased. My DD and I just got back:thumbsup2

I was in Jcpenney today to get another pair of the capries and I paid 20 for this past saturday and today they had placed a new price sticker of 32 on them. Shirt I also got was now 26 and I paid 16. I peeled the sticker back to make sure I had not been wrong. Even with my 20%off coupon I would have paid more. I just put down the fews thing I had picked up and left because I was so disgusted. I msy never go back now:mad:

I've notice that too. They are playing with fire:furious:

I'm going to be very generous and give JCPenney two years at most before they're gone.

An article I read in conjunction with the jettison of their recent CEO said that they were now at a point of seeing what's "salvageable" of the company.

This former Apple guy made a simple but critical mistake: he tried to import his elitist mindset for a high-profile niche brand and tried to apply (force) it on a mass-market retailer. And, guess what, it failed.

Apple products didn't go on sale, you didn't get coupons, you stood in line in the freezing cold hoping to be one of the ten people out of the hundred to get the new something-electronic-in-a-box-that-started-with-a-lower-case-i. That's not the right mentality for a store where you're trying to get $5 off a $30 pair of slacks.

Once the no-sale notion failed, I think the guy was flailing and clueless. Let's have comparison pricing, let's have non-sale sales, let's have semi-department stores within the stores, lets just throw a pizza on the wall and see what sticks.

JCPenney has so many problems right now I don't know they can all be fixed.

Now they can give shoppers coupons and everyone will think they are getting a deal and people will be happy with them again. That's what a lot of folks said they wanted.

I got a 3 pack of T-shirts today for $20 -- when we got home we noticed that under that price tag were tags for $18 and $17. Not sure when the prices were changed, but just thought it was funny given that the whole "fair and square" pricing they were pushing.

They are raising them so they can lower them down for a sale and give coupons. I work for JCPenney and I really hope and pray that the company doesn't close. It's an American icon that has been around for a very long time.

Crap! I had a "second chance" $50 gift certificate from Christmas. I was going to use it on a nice dress for my DD and her 8th grade graduation. Now it's been devalued by half :crazy2:.

I noticed this the other day while I was in. A $5 t-shirt I had just bought had new tags on it saying it was $12. Was pretty ticked as I wanted a couple more in different colors. They are seriously the best t-shirts I have found in a long time. Very flattering , thin enough for summer but you cant see through them and come in great colors.

Luckily they were still $5 online. With the 20% off code and free ship to store it was absolutely the best and most unbeatable price around. I am really sad to see the "we need coupon" peoples mentality won out. I much preferred walking in and being able to pay a great price the day of. Now we all get to wait for a sale and hoard coupons. Yay!!!

People on this very board were screaming for their old pricing structure to come back, looks like that is what they are doing. I loved the fair and square model they were doing. I wasn't afraid to buy something thinking it would go on sale again next week... guess I will go back to shopping there based on their sales

I have no idea how I ended up getting a text from them for 20% off a couple of days ago on the same day I was at the mall! It was specifically for the mall I was at and kinda freaked me out a little!. I ended up getting a bathing suit cover all on sale for $10 for $8+tax

For the people who got the 20% off text, do you know if you could use it on the $1 flip flops?

I am sorry to say that I am not impressed with JCP lately. I lost 15 lbs this winter and needed new bottoms for spring. Everything was way too trendy for me, couldn't find a thing. DS12 literally outgrew almost everything this year so we went his afternoon to get him stuff...talk about a budget buster! Started at JCP because I had. 20 percent coupon. Not a lot of selection at all for his size 16/18 tops and 14 bottoms. Got him two pairs of shorts and one shirt and it was still $54 after the discount. Ended up doing better at Kohl's where I had a 20 percent coupon and got some Kohl's cash back and then we ended up getting a ton of stuff at Target.

This is a perfect example of what happens when people who really COULD be trend-setters in the corporate would are pushed out because of the 'old way'.

Coupons are CRAP and create a culture of customers who are only loyal when they have coupons in hand.

JCPenney tried to create a best price every day strategy so you didn't have to game the system, wait till the store had a sale to buy what you needed instead of buying it when YOU wanted to buy it... etc etc

Yet, because so many other retailers are still stuck in the world of the coupon - people think that their newsprint cash is worth more to them than a best value every single day of the week, every hour of the business day - instead of having to be there by noon...

JCP tried to give us all what we wanted, when it was most convenient for us...

No door busters, no crap flyers that you have to chase down to get a good deal.... and now.... it's all going backward.

I really like the new pricing strategy - it just made sense, it was customer friendly, and I got the best deals I had ever had at JCP!

I really hope that the company doesn't go under, I enjoy shopping at JCP!
