Ok -- here is the "little guy" -- one healthy baby...all the numbers are normal and strong.

If you look in the upper right corner you see a "thing" hanging down...that's my baby!

Here's a close-up ... a bit blurred but you can see the blob better ... he or she is tucked into the far right corner -- nice and snug and cozy!

Congratulations! :thumbsup2 Your numbers are very strong for a singleton. I really thought you'd have 2. It's great that you have a healthy pregnancy. Here's to a healthy and happy nine months! :cool1:

another IVF success story here.

Congrats to those currently preggo and my best thoughts, prayers and wishes to those still TTC. i know it is a long, rough journey, but you are so strong!!!!

4 months clomid
HSG
4 IUIs- 2 with clomid, 2 with injectables
Laprascopy
1 IVF = baby Will!!!! finally

DH and i have been together 15 years, married for 7. We wanted to finish school, get careers going before getting married and having kids. so we got married in 2001. we didn't start trying for kids until 2005. I had been on BCP for about 10 years. i had stopped them in 2000 or so due to side effects. So the last 8 years, we had no BC at all. We figured if it happened, it happened, but we weren't actively trying back then.

when it was time to try, i knew we had issues, after over 5 years with no BC and no 'accidents'. We did all the tests- 2 SA for DH, temp tracking for months for me, paps etc. After we did the temp tracking for many months, we decided it was time to try other things. I was already 32 and DH 34. So my OB/GYN started me on clomid and monitored me once a cycle via u/s. great follicle development, but BFN for 4 months straight. All levels were good on my hormones/bw. couldn't figure out the problem. so then i decided to see a real fertility doc.

Did an HSG first. Clear tubes all good to go. Then we did our first IUI, with clomid again. i responded well yet again, even to 50mg. had 3-4 good follicles every cycle it seemed. We did another IUI with clomid- round 2. nothing. Then i decided to do a laprascopy. i had some mild endo, but nothing he said to prevent pregnancy. I was cleaned up though anyhow. So we did IUI #3, this time with follistim. BFN, then IUI#4, with follistim, still BFN. My insurance covered my IUI's. I had my last IUI in November 06. In Jan 07, my insurance changed and IUI coverage was gone. So we decided to just do IVF, since we would be paying out of pocket anyhow and the chances were better for it.

Started in Jan 07, used lupron, menopur and follistim. had 13 eggs retrieved, only 8 were mature or usable. Did a 5 day transfer. All 8 fertilized naturally. so it was obviously not a sperm issue, unless there was some problem wiht them reaching the egg. By day 5, we had 2 good blasts to put back. the others grew another day, but none good enough to freeze as the lab had strict standards. Put 2 embies in and on March 1st, got my BFP finally!

I delivered baby boy Will on Oct 30th, 2007. He turns 9 months tomorrow. He is a blessing and the joy of my life and i thank God everyday that I was able to have him. I am about to turn 35 and DH is turning 37 next month. We want another, but not sure when we will try or how. We were blessed that my grandpa gave us the $12k to do IVF. It was the most emotionally, physically and financially hard time for us. so i sympathize with anyone going through it. i really wish the government did more (or the states) to ensure coverage for folks. it would make the journey a little bit easier not having to stress about money on top of everything else.

My friend also saw my doctor to conceive her #2 after a year with no luck. She only did a few cycle of clomid and one IUI before doing IVF. They now have 3 month old twin girls!

I still chat with the girls i was on the TTC thread here on the dis. we are now in the 'new moms' thread........including a friend that did egg donation and conceived at the same time as me. :wizard:

congrats and good luck to all!!!!!

Yep, me too! but a strong healthy baby is good too.

Doc said my body must have absorbed the 2nd embryo b/c there isn't any sign of it in the uterus or in the tubes (I hadn't even thought about the fact I could have another ectopic :scared1: )

So I am happy! just a bit sad over losing the 2nd baby though.

Wow -- hearing stories like these makes me appreciate how blessed we are when we become pregnant!

I will have to join the new moms to be thread -- going to look for it now!

Find a nice safe place for that Ultrasound and the many more you'll get through out your pregnancy adventure. :) We still have ours on our fridge from DD #2 :).

I can't wait to see how your little dot grows in to a beautiful baby. :)

Next question...Are you going to find out the sex?

BTW I love your ticker :)

please do, it's on the community board. there is also a TTC thread that has lots of pregnant women on it too that you could look into. lots of great women posting and sharing tips and stories. great support!

congrats again. my beta was just average, but my progesterone was super high at like 110 (most were at like 20 or so for an IVF pregnancy). so the doc thought i had 2 due to that. the u/s tech was shocked to see only one. i am thinking maybe we lost the other one too and it was just so early we didn't know. but i am thankful and blessed to have my sweet baby boy.

hope you have a safe, happy and healthy pregnancy! :wizard:

Yep, we're definitely the type of people who want to know so we can do the nursery. Since we have a girl already, I should be fine on clothes if another girl. If not, then I'll hit the consignment sales/freecycle/yard sales hard!

Thanks! I just joined the moms to be thread. Looking at the new babies born just makes me want to cry (with joy!)

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but I'm pleased to hear of a few success stories using Shady Grove - we just started going there (the Towson office and the Bel Air office). We've tried from 1998 - 2004, then took a VERY long break 'til now. We had been to 3 different fertility specialists, and haven't had any luck.

Turns out we both have/had issues. I have PCOS (however, I've been "regular" for the last 3 years - due to working with mostly women), and DH has issues. Unfortunately, the biggest issue (no pun intended) is that the sperm head are too big for the needle to do IVF (or is it ICSI - we've been out of the loop for a while), and the last two doctors didn't believe it, and tried unsuccessfully as well. Our current Dr. from Shady Grove told us that there is a rare genetic issue that can cause that, but the test is $1600, and it wouldn't change anything, so we're moving on to donor sperm. :( (I'm sad, but DH is ok with it - his family has history of depression and alcoholism, so he's ok with not passing on those genes.)

Anyway, we've done all of the "pre" tests, and have our meeting with the Doctor tomorrow to see what are next steps are.

Maybe there are others currently going through this too?

Just wanted to say best of luck with you! I used Shady Grove for IUI and IVF and both times had success on the first try (tried another place in between and was not successful). I really liked the staff at SG and they know what they are doing. I hope it all works out with you.

My latest is just over 5 weeks old! Both are girls.
