I've got two reservations, which would you pick?

After yesterday's discount, I ended up with two reservations for the week of 11/30-12/7. One is at All Star Music with free dining, the other is Coronado Springs with a room only discount that saved us about $500.

Was attempting to call and switch to Pop Century if any cancellations occur that would let me get free dining there as well...but even then, would you take Pop with FD or still the Coronado deal I have?

We have no kids, we don't spend much time at the resort, but from what I've seen, to say All Star Music is lacking is an understatement.

I've been to both resorts... I LOVE Coronado Springs.... its so beautiful... and the food court isnt as crowded.

Unless free dining saves you lots more than $500, I would go with the room only discount at CS.

I would go with Coronado Springs.

Since you're two adults, you're more prone to really enjoy the amenities of the resort.

And that $500 you save would go towards food. You can place an order with www.gardengrocer.com for breakfast items to be delivered to the room, along with a case of water. And you can decide whether you want a table service meal each day. (Though if you're going during free dining, make those ADRs ASAP. You can change your mind between now and then and cancel.)

You'll probably end up spending more money this way, but it would be for a moderate resort over a Value that you're already not enthusiastic about.

Have fun!

Coronado Springs is a beautiful resort! My husband and I were very pleased with our stay there. The bus service was great too ( much better than the deluxe resort buses) even though it's considered an "Animal Kingdom" area resort, you are really close to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Less than 10 minutes away!

I haven't stayed at either but, for two adults, I would do CS. Even with three children under 5 years, Pop is a little to much themed for me. Enjoy which ever you decide. We'll be there the same time you are!

I generally don't do Disney dining----that said, however, we have never had the option of free dining. It seems like it could save quite a bit of $$ as the food is very expensive. The dining plan at AsMu would be the qs plan. Would you be happy all week eating mostly qs and having to pay oop for any ts meals? If so, since you don't spend much time at the resort, I think AsMu would be fine.
Personally, I prefer the higher level resorts and like the option to book dining wherever we want and being allowed to select whatever items we want to eat.
I know not much help, but these are the things I would weigh when making my decision.

i have been to Coronado to eat at Pepper market but never stayed there or any other moderate. i have never stayed value either. regardless of the hotel level i dont think you should stay anywhere that you feel is lacking before you even get there. go with cs, i dont think you will be disappointed. also..with only 2 of you is free dining that great of a deal. we always find a better savings with a ro discount.

eta - always thought fd was a better deal with larger groups.

I stayed at ASMu almost 20 years ago but have never stayed at CS. That being said, I would pick CS and use the $500 that I saved towards food. My DH and I prefer TS meals so the QS plan would not work for us. It really all depends on your situation and what you would prefer.

The savings between FD vs RO discount really depend upon a few things. I always thought the RO discount would be better because it's just me and my DH and we stay deluxe. Last year we received a bb offer at Poly for free dining. I went ahead and booked it but waited for a RO discount. Finally the RO discount came out but it was only for either 20% or 25% off, can't quite remember. To my surprise, we were saving a little more with FD than we would with that RO discount. I'm guessing it's also because we're only staying 4 nights this time.

My daughter works at the All Star Resorts, she has worked at Pop Century too, so I think they are fine! However, I have stayed at Coronado, and it will might be more appealing for a couple without children. Since there are so many conventions there, (that's why I stayed there) it has less children generally, and the pools are not too crowded during the day. I'm not a big eater, so the free dining would not be a huge deal for me...Give me a dole whip and some flat bread and I am happy!
Enjoy!

looks like most overwhelmingly prefer Coronado. My wife is in that group as well, apparently.

We eat mostly quick service, which is why this is so difficult of a decision for me.

We're definitely going to spend more with RO than FD...because All Star Music all together was $1400 with 3 MYW days for two people and FD. Coronado is $1073 room only.So we're not really saving money with the RO, we're saving money on an upgrade of a resort.

if you stay at music, their food court may have more of a crowd.

the food court and arcade at sports will be shut down during your stay for a complete over haul.

busses will take those staying at sports to music and movies for the food court.

many may want to avoid the allstars due to that.

good to know. we don't usually do the dining plan unless we are staying on points because eating oop ends up being cheaper especially when we stay cl which we do when we pay cash.:)

Ok, going by that, it sounds like staying at ASMu is most definitely the better deal for you. However, if spending the extra money to stay at CS won't hurt your wallet, then I would stay at CS.

If a stay at CS doesn't put you out too much $ wise when you consider food, I would choose that since you have no kids. The all star resorts could be much more crowded and LOUD. Plus, as a couple, you may want to do some table service restaurants and you would be paying oop for that anyway since that isn't included in a qs plan. You can probably eat what you would on the qs plan for $500 for the two of you oop.

I vote for CS since you plan on eating quick service meals anyway, I would go for the room only discount and better resort and just pay for meals.
