I've got two different options...

I recently made a post about adding an additional room night to my existing reservation.

When I went to try and add another night in the standard room, it told me one was available on online, but then it wasn't there and I had to call customer service and it was a whole big thing.

Anyway...now I have two options.

I can either add a night at ASMo, but it would be a preferred room, so there's the high chance I would have to switch rooms.

Or for a little bit cheaper, I can switch to ASMu for my last night and be in a standard room.

I'm trying to be frugal this trip, so it may be better for me to just switch resorts to save some money...

Also, should I keep checking online and see if rooms open up? Does this ever happen?

ASMo has been recently updated and has better reviews than ASMu...

Do you prefer a better room in a better location or saving money?

The preferred room at Movies is about $20 dollars more than the one at Music. I'm going at the beginning of September. I had a really good deal with Fun & Sun but of course I can't get that for the additional night.

Honestly, only you know if the $20 difference is ' worth' it to you by changing resorts. To me that wouldn't be worth moving all of my stuff....in fact, I would probably move to a resort I could get one room for the duration of the trip, so I didn't even have to change rooms. To me not moving at all would be worth quite a bit more money! However, if you are willing to sacrifice time to repack luggage, either moving it yourself or having bell services move it for you, then checking into a new hotel then go for it. We have done longer-ish split stays the last five stays with DD1 and it has not been worth it to me. Even before DD,when it was just me and DS10......still not a fan of the pain of moving. No matter what you will have an amazing trip. You need to weigh out if the time of moving is worth the $20. Have a great trip!

Moving resorts is a drag; no way would I do that to save $20.
Its pretty likely they'll let you stay in the same room (at the same resort), but if they can't be aware that you could be 'homeless' from check out time (11am?) until check in time (3pm or later). Bell services/luggage assistance will lock up your luggage (even keep cold fridge stuff cold IIRC), but what a pain in the neck, packing up all your stuff, get it to luggage assistance (or wait for bell hop to come to your room - you have to be there), and then go to a park. When you return from the park, you can get your stuff yourself, or wait in the room for luggage assistance (unlike with Magical Express, you have to be in the room to receive your stuff from LA).

I agree with the others that $20 is too little of a difference to switch resorts. Plus, you have a chance at a renovated room at ASMo.

$20 for all that fuss? Not a chance would I move. WHen I make budgeting decisons I look at what my time is worth. Changing rooms is one thing, although I would hate to do that too, but resorts? It would need to be a lot more than a $20 savings to lose that kind of vacation time. The only person who can determine how valuable $20 is to you is you, but in my World, I look at all of the conveniences or treats I want on vacation, know I need to compromise one thing for another, so I compromise before my trip. For instance, my family tends to eat at home rather than out when we are saving for a trip. I save my change for spending, and so I never spend the change I get back on any purchase. I have jars of it piling up.

If your only consideration is $20 you could save that just in coffee.

I would take the room at ASMo. You would be at the same resort at the very least.

Yes, you can keep checking for availability online and call WDW as well. People change plans all the time. Something may become available or someone may enlist GS to help.

You can also let the resort know at checkin that you would prefer not to change rooms. Final chance is the day you are to checkout/checkin. Try again. You just never know.

Worst case scenario you have to bring your bag to bell services in the morning and get them delivered to the new room when you come back later in the day. Even this is easier than moving to a new resort, IMO.
