I waitlisted in early June for any Sunday thru Wednesday starting with October 20 and going thru November 10. Asked for a 2 BR at BCV (where I just purchased). Went off to the beach for a week, with strict instructions to my husband that I was waiting for a Very Important call from WDW and to call me if they called. I didn't want to do the automatic thing because we are taking another couple and I felt like I had to check with them re the week before I made a final commitment. When I got back from vacation, the first message on my machine was from DVC (a week old). I could have shot my husband, who said he thought it was someone trying to sell me something.

So I immediately waitlisted again, but so far I haven't been called. I thought about going one day at a time for a specific Sun-Thurs, but since we are taking guests who have never been, I don't want to be moving from resort to resort. I thought about making it automatic, but if the other couple couldn't go, it would be too late to bank my points, and not much time to use them before the end of my use year. So I'm waiting impatiently, but am getting discouraged.

Hoping that when NY opens up, there will be a glut of buyers that will free up additional units. Here's hoping.

Bummer! Of course they called when you were gone :(.

Is it possible to narrow your dates to only those that your friends can commit to? The automatic waitlist is really great.

You should really think about the automatic response. We were waitlisted for something last year, and went out of town for 3 days and missed our opportunity to grab what we wanted. Hate to say it, but after that the opportunity never came around again!! Since then, we've always asked for the automatic response and have been pretty lucky with things coming through. Just remember it cancels at 30 days out, so you'll have to call and tell them to continue to be waitlisted that last month, if you choose. Just check with your friends now, since they would have already had to commit if you were home to take the initial call!! Hope this helps.:D :D

When you wait list on automatic are you given a confirmation number? I've waitlisted on a couple of upcoming ressies, but I was only waitlisted for additional days so I had a confirmation number. Today, when I found a great airfare (wahoo!), I decided to try and squeeze in one more quick trip for my bd in Sept. Yes, very short notice but I decided to chance it and called to get a studio for 3 nites in Sept. Of course, it wasn't available although for those looking there were 1 bedroom's available. With 2 more upcoming trips I needed to conserve points and get a studio.
Sorry to be rambling :D , my question is should I have received a confirmation number when on an automatic waitlist?

I've sooooo quickly been bitten by the DVC bug!
