I've confused myself: Banking question please!

We just added on points and are now proud owners at SSR in addition to AKL! The points have just been added to our dashboard today

It shows the new contract has 268 points for 2018, December use year. With December as our use year, we usually have to bank by July 31. Did we miss the banking window for these 2018 points, or is the banking deadline for the Dec 2018 points actually July 31, 2019?

I have confused my brain trying to work out the banking window here. I know that the 2018 points are allocated for Dec 1, 2018 - Nov 30, 2019, yes? So would it be July 31, 2019?

For 2018 DEC UY points, the banking deadline would be July 31, 2019. At this moment, you can't do anything with those points, except borrow them into 2017 UY.

Yes, it can be confusing. If those are Dec 2018 points, they can be used for any stay between 12/1/18 - 11/30/19, and if not used, must be banked by July 31, 2019.

Did you buy direct or through resale? If direct, call up your guide to ask for the points to be banked into 2019, it shouldn't be a problem. If you bought resale, you can call up DVC member services and see if they will give you a one time exemption to bank those points, they might do it or they might not, but they technically don't have to.

December is in it's 2017 UY right now and it isn't even possible to bank 2018 points yet.

You are fine. You can make a reservation to use those points for reservations until the date of 11 30 19 .But if you cannot use all of them by then you can bank them and your banking deadline is 4 months before that use year ends. So you have until 7 31 19 to bank them. Keep in mind though if you ever make a reservation that falls within the last 4 months of your use year and have to cancel it and cannot reschedule it before the end of your use year you then at that point cannot bank them since you would be beyond your banking window. This is the biggest confusion with members. Avoid making reservations that fall in the last 4 months of your use year if possible in case you have to cancel them so you never risk losing your points
