and maybe it will finally happen! My wife has an interview in the RTP area. And she is extremely good friends with one of the VP's at the company she is interviewing with.....

Wish us luck!

Good Luck! :thumbsup2

I live in Virginia, on the North Carolina border, and we love traveling to Winston, Greensboro, and Raleigh to shop, eat, and seek new adventures. There is so much to do in North Carolina compared to where I live.

Good luck! We love the RTP area, we only left because of a great job opportunity in Charlotte...but we miss the Raleigh area like crazy and plan to return as soon as possible!

I think you guys would like the Raleigh area, especially as it is close to REAL bar-b-que country! Drive on down to Wilson and try Bill Ellis BBQ, or Greenville and give B's BBQ a try. Even the chain Smithfields Chicken and BBQ is very good. My personal fave is in Knightdale (Wake County), Knightdale Seafood and BBQ.

DH worked in RTP for quite a while, we know quite a bit about the area. Please let me know if you have any questions about the area!

And again, good luck to your wife!

Welcome to NC (power of positive thinking). I've called it home all my life, with the last 26 years in the RTP area. Keep an open mind about housing options, the realtors will probably automatically steer you to Cary or North Raleigh. I've done Cary, little too conservative for me. Back in Raleigh, now.

If schools are an issue (school-age children, or soon to be), be sure to research not only the school district you are looking to move into, but the neighboring ones as well. With the continued healthy growth of the area, redistricting is almost an annual event now. There are even examples of residents being able to stand outside their home, and see a school from their yard, and not be assigned to that school.

You'll also have to officially declare your loyalty within the first 6 months to either being a State Fan, a UNC Fan, or a Duke Fan. We won't accept waffling.

Looks like he is from PA, not NJ, so doubt he will end up pulling for Dook. ;)

No waffling. I'm an FSU fan!

GOOD LUCK!
I've only been in that area a few times, and it was just to go to the airport.
I hope it works out for your family.

Hope it worls out for you, Papa. I am another lifelong North Carolinian. It truly is a great place to be. We currently live in the Greensboro area, but Raleigh-Durham is a wonderful pace to live as well.

Good luck!

I agree that Knightdale Seafood & BBQ is one of the best bbq in Wake county, but Ole Time BBQ near the state fairgrounds is pretty good for taste and budget. NC Beast and I have no kids so we are not best to ask about the schooling in East Wake/Johnston counties.

Welcome!

If you need a real estate agent my Mom is one.

We love it here - of course we're from here. We live in Durham which is convenient to RTP. Morrisville seems to be a popular place to live for those who work in RTP.

Sorry Papa Deuce, but FSU was not one of the options. Even Dook is a stetch in a lot of areas in North Carolina -- would be okay if you live in Cary, of course. ;)

I agree about no waffling. I've written many checks to Moo U during the past four years and it hasn't changed my allegiance one iota. My DS is going to State, not me. :rotfl2:

Well, since I do plan on living in or near the relocation area, I should be OK! :lmao:

CARY = Centralized Area for Relocated Yankees, for those not in the know. :teeth:

I meant that Dook would be okay in Cary. I don't think there is any place in North Carolina where FSU would be acceptable! The exception, of course, is when they're playing those guys from Durham. I was an FSU fan for a couple hours this week!

Have to agree here, Papa - you MUST be for either State(why?) or Carolina (obvious choice.) No FSU until the NC terams have been eliminated - oh, wait, that never happens....

With good roads to outlying areas, such as I-40, some other areas are becoming popular with the yankees as well...

CLAYTON = Cary Like Area Yankees Trying Out Now

LOL... that was our other option, if she takes or gets offered the job!

Don't do Cary.

We moved to NC about two years ago from the Boston area. Cary is too much like the northeast. Too much traffic, houses too close together, too many Malls/shopping centers. Just too much...

Look at Orange county. Good schools and still an easy commute to RTP.

What line of business is your wife in?

Good luck
