Its Tuesday.....AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!

I voted for the first time ever!... and I watched all of AI and AI2.. I just wanted to make sure that Kimberly Locke did NOT get "NIKKI"d out...

Kim Locke has come a long way and last night she sang well one of my favorite songs.."Where the Boys Are". She needs to stay with melody type songs and stay AWAY from songs with any type of speaking.. that was the problem with Grapevine and It's Raining Men.. It took a while for me to figure it out but that is it..I think.. and She needs to pick songs where she can HIT THE GROUND RUNNING.. Start Strong.. End Strong!.. She has charm and stage presence.. the voice is beautiful when it is used with the right songs.

Clay.. awesome... consistent.. charming! and works on himself with grace!

Ruben.. now see I think he was Great tonight!
Trenynce.. better.. but will be gone tonight or next week
Josh.. I think Josh needs to be on the country show.. he would shine and feel comfortable with himself. I agree that he knows he is going home soon and has resigned himself to that fact..

Just think these 5 kids are at the top.. the cream of this years crop... and IT SHOWS! Amazing abundance of Talent in AI2

What was said about Ruben's weight? I missed that part.

ruben had a a leather jacket and pant outfit, and simon said now i know why theres a cow shortish in california.....

Did anyone else think it seemed a bit unfair to the others that during Clay's last song, "Solotaire", the lights were dimmed with just a spotlight on him, I mean it just was a great setting and very appropriate for the song. I just never noticed if they did that before for others, I mean set the stage so well for the song. It seems everyone always comes out on the stage with all the lights on, with no special set up for them.

BTW, I thought Clay was great and he is never one of my favorites. But when they started "Solataire" I thought "Wow, this is going to be something special." It just goes to show how much "production" can add to the performance of a song.

I can't stand the faces Josh makes! It looks like he's constipated or something!

I guess I'll add my $.02. Purely in terms of last night's performances, I would rank them:

1)Clay!- I thought his first song was GREAT, second was AWESOME!!
2)Kimberly- First song was okay, 2nd was AWESOME!!!
3)(tie), Ruben and Trenyce- I know this goes against the popular
consensus, but I really thought Ruben's first song was just okay, second was GREAT, but he IS too predictable. Trenyce I thought did a GREAT job with both songs, and she's has not been a favorite of mine.
4)Josh- Poor guy, I really like him, but he cannot complete at this level. I will be sorry to see him go, but his time has come:(

Princess Dot, I thought that odd too, that the spotlight was set like that on Clay. Why didn't anyone else have a "special" start to their song? It would seem only fair.

There's no doubt that Josh goes home tonight, and I think he knew that last night. He was the only one NOT smiling at the end of the show. And, he hates Simon, which I don't blame him. But, even though Simon is not well liked, you know there are people out there that are going to respect his honesty and agree with him, therefore, Josh is out.

Oh, and I love Neil Sedaka, he was just so cute last night with all of the contestants! I wonder if he really will write songs for Clay someday? That would be pretty cool.

Well, we'll have to wait and see!

I got a giggle out of this. I think you're mixing up Colin Powell with Simon Cowell. One's the Secretary of Defense - the other should be named the Secretary of Offense!!

I started thinking about my post a little after I made it and wondered where in the world I got COLIN! LOL For some reason I keep wanting to call him that. I know his name is Simon, but still call him that. OOPS. I loved your summarization Cookie!! That's what we should call him from now on, lol. No matter how snotty, SIMON is, I still think he's adorable.

As for the weight comments....Paula also told one of them their voice I do believe was at least as big as Ruben. I can't remember the exact statement now.

Whew!!! I'm at work and forgot my password....

Clay, then Ruben. First two choices. Putting Trenyce in third top.

A question? Did anyone else tape the show and watch it? I'm asking because Kimberly Locke seems to have gotten her attitude back. When I re-ran the section after her review on the first song, Simon said something negative to which she replied "that's your opinion" or something to that effect.

The attitudes are what turn me off to otherwise good singers.

Simon commented to Clay that he took critiscm (sp) like an adult. He may have heard her or was reacting to Josh's reaction to being criticized.

I don't get it. These people came from nowhere, they're asking a company to invest millions of dollars in them, the company's reprsentative offers advice, and now these little amateurs know it all? Does any record company really need another prima donna (or prima don) with the way the music industry is doing? Will these little prisses always know more than professionals?

If either Kim Locke or Josh goes, I'll shout with joy. They're both lacking in CLASS.

Popsicle - I completely agree! Thats why I cant stand Kim from the beginning...she's smarted off to Simon right away. I don't know who she thinks she is. And on top of that...she starts her songs off key!

I've always been a HUGE Clay fan! During the first rounds when he sang "Open Arms," he had me then. He and Ruben also seem to be the only two that are truly grateful for the position that they are in. They both take criticism very well and seem to be genuine. I really want Clay to win because I think his voice is awesome and I'd buy his CD in a second. Ruben is my #2 choice, then Kimberly. I've never cared for Trenyce..I don't know why. I couldn't stand Kimberly Caldwell and was jumping for joy when she got the boot..just because she thought she was "Miss It."

I too think that Josh will get the boot tonight. I'm not a country fan but always thought that he had it when it comes to country. He's just out of his league now. Like everyone else said, if it was Country Idol, he'd win hands down.

I guess we'll find out soon who goes home. I just hope that Kimberly lock is not booted this week. GO CLAY!!! ;)

See, now... I dunno. In the American Idol People special, Simon specifically said he WANTED the contestants to talk back. He said don't just take criticism and *please* don't say thank you when you receive criticisms. He WANTS the contestants to argue with him -- for controversy or ratings or whatever. I don't think he cares in the least how it makes the contestants look in our eyes.
I didn't like what Kim L did in the beginning, but I think the producers encouraged it for controversy. Why else would they have all the families there for the shows? So Mom could come out and give Simon what-for when her baby is insulted. For ratings.
Honestly, if I were ever on the show, I would be annoyed with the judges too. Yeah, they're in the industry, but that's doesn't make them all-knowing. Case in point -- telling Kim she needs to lose weight and not saying very much to Ruben. Telling Clay he's predictable and not saying the same to Ruben. And Paula so rarely says anything constructive at all...

Josh really needs to go now. He just is not in the same class as the others. I hate it because I like him.

Treynece did better last night but she bugs the you know what out of me. I have disliked her from the start.

Kim L has been a favorite and she has been coming into her own.

Reuben has a great voice but I dont see him putting on a concert.
He is for sure a first place contender.

Clay has a remarkable voice but I really think he is not suited for "pop" songs. To me, He has such a stage voice. Also, a first place contender. He was so on last night. I think he is the most consistent and his performance has improved.

I still love Clay! He was great last night, but I think I'm the only person who liked his first song better than his second last night...oh well! I did notice that he had some dramatic lighting for "Solitaire" and it seems strange that no one else got that, but it definitely added to his performance.

I didn't see Ruben's first performance, but the more I see him the more bored I get. I will never understand why Clay is getting picked on for doing the same thing every week, but the judges have only mentioned Ruben's boringness once!

Josh was definitely the worst last night, but I think he might stick around for one more week. I think Trenyce will get kicked off tonight.

I realized last night that I made some good predictions when this season started...after the first shows with the first auditions, my favorites were Clay and Kimberly Locke. And my favorites now are...still clay and Kimberly Locke!:p

I'm not really looking forward to tonight's show, because I think it will be Josh to go. I really thought at the beginning he could be in the final two, but after the last few shows, he has steadily declined. I don't know what happened to him.
I think Treynce and Kimberly will round out the bottom three.

Job singing together the 60's songs....Josh was actually smiling!;) ACCCK Kimberly C is back!!!

Josh sounded great. I wish he could have been more consistent. I really like him. Hopefully voice training and experience will help Josh grow as a singer.

I'm beginning to see the final 2 being Clay and Ruben(Kim L may pull a upset)

My guess for tonight's bottom 2 - Josh and Treynce. Josh will be going home.
