It's Tough to be a Bug - just how scary?

I'm going to skip it with my 5 and 7 year olds - my 5 year old hates bugs and my 7 year old is a very sensitive kid and I think it would be too much for them.

We went a few months ago with our adult children and 4 year old grandson and he had to be taken out of the movie; way too scary for him. It's very dark and noisy; that made him tense from the beginning but when the big bug comes out with the bug spray and sprays the audience and it gets all foggy with ominous music and then spiders drop down from the ceiling right above your head; that was the end for him.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you:worship: I can not thank you enough:worship: for this post. If I took my boys and spiders came down from the ceiling I think they would have to call 911:scared1:
Wow am I glad I found this thread! So I can easily say this is a big fat NO for us.'
Again a million thanks to you:worship:

too many young kids have freaked out in the show and were panicked! They not only cry through the whole thing and ruin it for everyone else around. I would not have any under 5 attend it.:surfweb:

If you or your kids are scared of bugs DO NOT DO THIS ATTRACTION. I took my DS when he was 4 and we were both so freaked out that we had to leave. I am terrified of spiders and so is he. We will not do this again. I debated whether to take him because I read all of the reviews that said it was intense but then I thought it couldn't be that intense so we went in anyway. The reviews are absolutely true! I am sure that some kids will love this but not mine and not yours if they are afraid of bugs.

Some seats? Every time I've seen this show I've been stung and creepy-crawlied in my seat. I think the show is very creative, clever and funny but for many younger kids, it's way too intense.

One time, my daughter did not feel the crawling under the seat--I think she was "at the edge of her seat". Also, some people stand up to leave before feeling the crawling. We always sit and wait for it!

In 5-6 times at the attraction, my DH was only one of our group that got stung! We didn't believe him for awhile!

watch this youtube video yourself of the whole show --best color and resolution, but it just shows the dark screen when the spiders come down

then watch this one, which is much grainier, but will give you the total impression of hte bug spray and the black widows coming down:

that should give you a good idea of your child's tolerance. It is more intense in person than the second video can convey because of all the screaming and little kids freaking out. When we saw it when my DD was 3 (her brother was 10, so we were balancing 2 generations) we sat on the very end near the exit, and i had her on my lap.

She knew what was coming, and screamed, but was okay afterwards, and was determined to "conquer" it at age 5 when we went back. Her brother made her a sticker page in her autograph book where she got stickers when she "got" the "scary' attractions ... ToT, Dinosaur, ITTBAG, HISTA, Snow White, etc. He promised her a beanie from his money when she "got" them all. It worked for her.

It completely depends on the kid. I took my twins when they were 4 yrs old. One absolutely loved it, the other spent the entire time on my lap facing the other way while I sang "If you're happy and you know it" in her ear. :confused3 She sat up and said very firmly "but, I'm not happy!" She's older now and it's on her "must do" list for our upcoming trip.
