that fridges are going to be standard throughout the resort, being phased in gradually over the next few months. We're going at the very end of November, beginning of December, and she said that if we didn't have one and requested one, it was highly unlikely we'd be charged for it.

I THINK I understood her to say that all the moderate resorts were going to be stocking fridges in the rooms as a standard feature now....again, being phased in.

I'm very glad; we had planned to stay at FW in a cabin, but couldn't get the pass rate for it, so we moved. I'm still weepy over losing my cabin, which I'd just adjusted to when we couldn't get a room for our family of 5 at AKL.....waah! I'm reading a lot of rave reviews for POR, though, so hoping for the best. I think I made a mistake requesting building 18, though; I didn't realise it was a smoking building.

In Oct. DH & I will be staying at POR for the first time. From this thread, I see that alot of the mansions are done w/ the rehab...does anyone know which room or floor we should try to request in the mansions? Also, which building? We're smokers :guilty: , but we wanted to try out Magnolia Bend....

Please, any info you can dish out, we'd really appreciate it! Thanks!:flower3:

I'm glad Disney are providing fridges without charge. Most hotels of that grade already do so, and Disney was lagging behind, which is never a good thing!

Hope they also provide a coffee pot too - I can't move in the morning if I haven't had a cup (or two).

Hi Stini228:wave2: looks like we'll be at POR at the same time:D have you stayed there before? i've requested AB but will be happy wherever they put me:D i wonder which section gets the most requests?

hi storybookmum:wave2: looks like you'll be there at the same time too:D we're both from ontario:D i know it won't be really warm there this time of year(dd and i were there last year at this time too) but it should be much better than here at home::yes::

We've had rather a miserable summer, haven't we?

We were there in 2000 at the same time of year and it was quite chilly in the evenings; not really great swimming weather. I was kind of hoping to make it to at least one of the water parks, because we've never done that, but I think it's worth the tradeoff, if we don't make it, to be there at holiday time. It's such a beautiful time at the Parks.

Always nice to talk to a fellow Ontarian heading down! I'll keep an eye out for your username...

Take care,

Kris

P.S. Are you going to MVMCP? We are, on the 30th of November.

we have exactly the same dates, don't we! Are you in the Bayou or the mansions?

Starting to cheer up and move ahead again after the letdown of losing the cabins...

Kris:Pinkbounc

katy-- yup, I've been there before, it's amazing:D Can't seem to get myself to stay anywhere else, lol.

storybook--you know, I'm not sure what I'm going to ask for. Both sections are great in their own ways. I wonder if any of AB will be renovated before we get there ??

I have a huge question.
Go to page one of this post. Scroll down to the 8th picture. What mansion is in that picture? I want to live there! Look at that beautiful building! It looks like some old french museum. OOHH! I hope someone can help me.

I'm pretty sure that's Magnolia Bend...checking other photo sites. Try http://www.disneyco.uk/photodxmb.html disneyco.uk is a great site for guest reviews and photos.

It is pretty, isn't it? But remember...you can only have 1 room, not the whole mansion!!!

lol,

Kris

so, do i have this right...there may be a fridge in the room by dec, and maybe a coffeemaker? if you don't have a coffee maker you can request one? i wonder whether they will replenish the coffee daily. at POFQ they did, but not at AKL. i love being able to wake up with that 1st cup of coffee before leaving my room. and the hairdryer, is this already in the rooms?

storybookmum- yes i will be at MVMCP on nov30, and again on dec 02:D dd and i did this twice last year too and we just loved it!

Well just back today from our week at POR....it s "eventful" to say the least LOL....LOVED the hotel though, we were in Alligator Bayou building 17, nice place. Had a coffee pot and blow dryer. We arrived at 8am and were able to get right into our room and within minutes they had a fridge delivered to our room. My daughter was on medication that needed to be refridgerated so it was free, we talked to some people in the pool that were paying 10.00 and something cents a day for theirs since they didn't need it for medicine. We got a nice size one so along with the meds it held 12 bottles of water in the fridge part and 3 in the freezer. Main dislike I had was the beds..they were SO soft they killed my back. Other than that the room was fine, houskeeper left cute towel animals every day and one day spelled out "hello" in towels across the bed, my daughter loved that one. The walk to the food was a bit far, especially when my daughter was tired and I had to carry her but most of the time we were fine doing the walk. Mosquitos were deadly, I got bit a bunch-no biggie for me...my daughter was bit and since she is allergic her arm swelled up, the next night she was running over 103.6 fever so we called a handy house call Dr and he came right to the room at 10pm, turns out besides the cellulitis she had (I knew she had that and had begun treating it already) she also had a double ear infection and the treatment I started for the cellulitis would take care of the ear too...oh well....I have spent 250.00 on stupider things and I was happy just to have him confirm she was ok, well worth it. We liked the quiet pool better than the water slide one...plus the quiet pool was open 24 hours a day, the other one closes. Only thing with the quiet pool is they don't provide you with towels there. My daughter got a kick out of those lizard things that were all over the place and the frogs. She saw one bunny the whole trip, I thought there would have been more of those. We took the boat ride to downtown Disney, that was very nice. Also took a horse and carraige ride at POR and enjoyed that. The all you can drink mug was well worth it, and I was very happy using the vouchers in the parks, fed 2 of us on one voucher. We took the illuminations cruise and that was really nice! It was also very convienent shopping at the parks and marketplace and just having them send them all back to our hotel for us! My mom bought one of those big Castles with all the princesses and had it shipped home for my daughter.

thanks for the great trip report aprilgail2:D sorry to hear your dd got sick, but glad you still had a fun trip.at AKL last spring i was bothered by bugbites(not sure what kind:confused: but not mosquitos)but luckily i was just stuck with itchy red spots.sounds like a scary experience with your dd, you're right about the money for the doctor, it was worth it for peace of mind.
i love that boat ride to downtown disney too, haven't tried the illuminations trip yet though.those soft beds are worrying me a bit. do you think they are all like that? anyone else find the same thing? glad to hear you had no problem getting your fridge since you really needed it. did housekeeping leave you more coffee everyday?
i bet your dd will have lots of fun playing with her princesses and castle:D

Both beds in our room were soft...my mom had the other and was complaining about them hurting her back. Actually NO they did not leave us coffee everyday...I had to call twice for them to bring coffee (which they did within minutes) and also they didn't leave more coffee cups so I called and had them bring 6 of them to last the whole trip....anything I called for was delivered within minutes though....I MISS MY TRIP ALREADY!!!!

thanks for the speedy reply aprilgail2:D at POFQ they left more coffee and cups every day, funny that they wouldn't do the same here. maybe it depends on who you get in housekeeping? glad to hear you could get more when you asked though, i NEED that cup of coffee to get me moving in the AM LOL. i wonder if the mattresses are the same in the refurbished rooms in the mansions?
i understand the pain of your withdrawal from your trip, best remedy is to start planning your next trip;)

We just got back and we received new coffee everyday. As for the mattresses I thought they were fine but my Mom thought they were too soft for her.

welcome back ecteacher23:D hope you had a good trip. which section of the resort did you stay in? how were the busses? would you stay at this resort again?
