I'm thinking of staying at POR in February and have a couple questions. Will all the rooms be refurbished by then? I saw another post saying refurbishment was going on September - December 2004. If not, which sections have (of will be) refurbished by then?

Does anyone have any current pictures of POR? DH and were planning on going to CBR and CSR with a split stay but CSR was booked for standards rooms so at first we choose POFQ. Upon looking at POFQ photos, we decided it really wasn't for us (although it was beautiful) so we switched to POR and requested the Magnolia Bend area (probably looking for Magnolia Manor).

We are looking for any recent pictures of POR - we already saw the ones on allearsnet so if anyone has a link to any other ones, please let us know - thanks.

Leaving in a few days and would love to see some recent (as in the past 2-3 months) photo's. Can anyone help me out?

We leave in a week for POR, and I'm just wondering if the rooms have alarm clocks in them, or if I need to bring my own? (Yeah, I know, I'm on holidays, but I still need a clock)

Ours had an alarm clock- but I just arranged for wake-up calls. I liked hearing Mickey tell us to get up!

Speaking of wake up calls, how early will 'Mickey' call? I do get up pretty early, do they have a starting time?:)
Kim

you push the wake-up button on your phone and an automated system has you punch in your wake-up time, whether it's AM or PM and then verify it. You can get ANY time you want! :)

Oh- when the phone rings, just hit the speaker button so everyone can hear it! :)

We just got back and i took pictures of por and the rooms in the mansions,we stayed in acadian mansion and loved it.Definitely will stay there again.Ill have pics up soon.

after about 30 stays at POR, I have found my favourite room.

I used to love the mansions but a stay last year sold me on Alligator Bayou.

Room 1529 this year was perfect - close to main building and parking, but looks out onto a little courtyard area. Felt like there were very few other rooms around me due to the way that the building was set up ie the corners. Basically it was four rooms in a row, then corners and nobody else. It was also a trundle bed room, FYI

But it's my secret!

And now I can't even get POR for my Dec trip, so keep your fingers crossed for me please. ;)

we were just at Riverside, AB, building 24 and had a renovated room -

I hadn't seen a photo before I left, so thought I'd share this in case it's not been seen yet (it's been 10 days since we were there, so I bet it's all over the site though.)

the curtains had been changed too, they were denim, and new light fittings from what I could tell.

Unfortunatly, even with a new room, we didn't really like AB, so we moved to French Quarter after a couple of nights and just loved it over there. My new favorite resport by miles!

PS - no fridge in either room but we called Housekeeping and they brought one free of charge.
We saw 100s of fridges being delivered while we were there, so they must be putting them in the rooms soon

BevS97.. just read your post.. we are going to be at Riverside for the first time next month.. we have always stayed at the French Quarter before, but couldn't get "the" code for that, but it was available for Riverside, so we took it.

We loved French quarter, but thought we would take a chance on Riverside.. I was also thinking about requesting AB.. What didn't you like? anything specific? Just hoping we made the right choice!

Can't wait to see Disney at X-mas time!
Thanks for your input..

other than the room location (we were in Room 24 which is miles from the food court and big pool etc, in fact I never even saw the old man pool at all) - there is nothing specific, I just didn't like the theming of the place - I commented to my husband that it looked like a swamp, and he said 'that's the whole theme, Alligator Bayou is a swamp' and that sort of summed it up for me - I didn't go to Disney to stay in a swamp. The mansions did look lovely though.

French Quarter - I just loved the theming, I thought it was absolutely beautiful. Our room location was superb, we were 2 minutes away from everything. A little further to our car and the bus stop then at AB, but right in the middle of everything. It's one of those intangible things, but everytime we came home it made me smile to think, I am staying here.
