We (DH, myself & our 6 kids! DSS12, DSD,10, DD7, DD4, DD2, DS 8mo) will be staying @ POR in 3 weeks. I requested a first floor room and we have a standard view. Can someone please give me information on rooms fitting this that might be close to the pool and the food court...we also need it to be non-smoking due the my step-sons allergies.

dennisnlisab96, I suggest just asking when you check in with those requests. CM's love to make it special when you check in. I am sure you can get a great location by asking nicely. A Non smoking room shouldn't be a problem and there are plenty of great room locations at PO. Have a great vacation.

Thanks for all the info...I just have one more question. I read somewhere that not all the buildings have elevatiors...is that correct? Can someone please tell me which ones do. I requested a first floor room but if we don't get the request I would like to be sure we are in a building w/ elevators. 2 tired adults, 6 kids and 2 strollers!!!

Which building have so far been rehabed in POR. I have read Oak Manor and now Acadian is now closed. Have any others been done?

i am also curious if anyone knows when the alligator bayou rooms last went through rehab..we stayed there 3 years ago in magnolia terrace and loved the room/location and are going in may and want to try the alligator bayou section but i must admit im a little scared since we loved the mansion section and dont want to be disappointed.

How long is the boat ride from POR to Downtown Disney? Sounds like it may be a fun, relaxing way to get to Downtown when not in a rush.

The boat trip from POR to DTD only takes about 20 minutes. It is a lovely ride, especially at night.

there is one at the main riverside resort entrance.
Then there is one at the aligator bayou serving the bayou section and the mansion section.

And there might( cant recall) be one for the mansion section itself.

Then there is one or two at the french quarter.

From looking at the map- Magnolia Terrace water view seems to be an outstanding location....does anyone who's been agree?

we were in aligator bayou bldg 27 and thought this was a really excellent location.

we were in a room that faced:
the main river path.
the water
straight ahead was the water wheel..the sunrises and views were awesome from this location.

the room was a 2 minute walk to the food court
two more minutes you were at the main bus stop
very convenient and QUIET for those who like bldg 14 cause it is sooo close, this is the best alternative IMHO, bldg 14 just seemed too conjested and seeing that thats where everyone wants to go i can see why..so bldg 27 is a great alternative for those who want the quietness.

When are the renovations starting (if they haven't already)? My parents are staying onsite for the first time in October, and I think POR is a resort they might really enjoy; but if there are renovations going on I don't want them to have to deal with switching rooms, loud renovation noises and the like. Has anyone been at a currently-in-renovation disney resort? Is it really annoying and noticable?

I know that renovations are underway at POR and currently the Oak Manor building is closed. My Dreams agent informed me that Magnolia Terrace (a non-smoking building) will be closed during my stay next month so that means I have only one choice of non-smoking buildings and that is Parterre Place, correct? That is if we decide to stay in the Mansion section. My 1 year old dd has a possible asthma problem (too young to diagnose as asthma for sure) and I don't want her in a smoking building. Should we consider staying in the Bayou section this trip?

Bali, I think most if not all renovations will be completed by the time your family stays at POR. At the very least they will be done with the Mansion section and your family can request a room there.

I booked a room for May 1st and 2nd.

Me, dw, dd5, sil, niece6 and nephew(infant)

Total of 6 of us.

We got a waterview room with a trundle bed

What should we expect?

Close to pool, transit, fun and games? Good view?

Is there anything I should ask for I dident give a smoking preferance.

How long does it take to get to MK?

What is the best way?

One last one I was considering renting a car as we are only gonna stay at Disney World for 2 nights then off to Cocoa Beach Sh ould i get my Car at the airport or just wait till after we are done with Disney.

I was thinking that it might be easier to get the car first in order to store kid stuff.

thanks

Alaska56...

Does anyone know when rehab will be completed in bayou area?
Is there a link that I can read all about the rehab?

I made reservations today and was told all room renovations were complete. I would love to see pics of how the rooms look now!!! :hyper:
