It's The Port Orleans FAQ Thread!!!

Stayed at POR-AB last Dec. and never had a long wait - maybe 10 minutes at the most. One time we did wait for the next bus as we were the last in line for MK and didn't want to stand up. The next bus came in about 20 minutes. I really don't think you'll have long waits. I like both resorts but I'm very partial to POR. Don't think you'll be disappointed at all with that choice.

Another good building choice at POR-AB is #16. We stayed in that one and found it to be a great location. There's a shortcut (through the bushes) just across the parking lot that ends up right at the bus stop. Of course, bldgs 14 - 18 are fairly close together so none are really far from the bus stop. Plus we found #16 to be quiet as it was not real close to the pool - but not far if you want to go there.

Hi! I hope I did this right, it's my first post to this board. I'm trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside (building 14) and Pop Century. It's only $160 more to stay at Port Orleans for our trip, but I've read a ton of posts of people complaining about long waits at the bus stops there. We're going the second to last week in September. Any comments from people who have stayed at both resorts? Thanks!!!

welcome to the dis! you will learn all you need to know for your disney trip right here! i've stayed @ POR once in alligator bayou in bldg. 18 w/the trundle beds, and we've stayed @ pop a lot!! the buses were fine @ por. we always took the 1st depot by the front entrance. the walk wasn't bad and my dd loved walking past the river and seeing the wildlife everywhere. we stopped by the food court every morning to fill up our mugs and hopped on the bus. pop is our favorite value resort. we will be staying @ POFQ in may. you will love the boat taxi to dtd and you must do the kayaks down the river and the horse carriage ride!!

The closest building to bus stop and food court is 14 in AB followed by 15 and 18, also in AB. If you explain the reason for your request (i.e. medical), the likelyhood of your getting one of those buildings is increased. Thank you for sharing your pics. It helped to build my excitement for our trip. You have pics of POR that I have not seen before so that was a real treat for me.

I can't believe it... after, what seems so long my next trip is only 1958784 seconds away!

DH and I keep on noticing all the Disney stuff around now -- things we'd never notice before.. or we see Mickey ears in the weirdest places

I guess I need to head to Home Depot and see if I can find any green Mickey heads

Anybody decorating their window at POR for Free Dining?

Last night was chatting with my bro and sis n law as they are starting to plan their second DL trip with their kids now that they are a bit older and I was trying to coax them into considering WDW next August...

I told them A and I would gladly come along

I will be decorating both my window and my door with MHs and other stuff. I am putting a blank sheet on the door so people can sign it. DH thinks I have totally lost it now. I looked at him today and said, "30 days." He gave me a blank stare. I repeated, "30 days." He replied, "For what?" I was stunned. " ..until WDW!!!" Then he said, " Oh, your counting down the days now?" Well DUH!!! I guess I'm just a tad more excited than he is. What am I going to do with him!!!???

My DGD was eating breafast this morning and she said "Look Mama, a flower. I went over to look took her spoon rearranged the cereal and said'look, A Mickey Head".
Then this afternoon a while I was out, I drove by a house that had a rope running across the yard and I thought of Tinkerbell during Wishes. I'm loosing it!

I will be decorating my window. My DH doesn't know it yet. He wouldn't understand. He's sgpoing to think I'm nuts when he seems me decorating it.

I have a whole lunch box of Mickey heads that I spent hours cutting out (live in the UK so do not have the pleasure of Home Depot!) that I need to do something with, and then three large lime green, well luminous green!, mickey heads, each with our usernames on. Then we also have some Union Jack flags to put at the bottom of the window! So yeah, decoration all around!

It's a way to let others know that you are a DISer.
Lazydoxy and I (as well as some others)will be there at the same time. So for us it will let us know where each other is staying.

What a great idea!

and welcome to the DIS!! I believe anyone can do this not just DISers. I'm going to shamelessly advertise my 10th anniversary as well as the fact that I'm a DISer. Some people use lights, pics of fav. characters, streamers, posters, you name it. If it will fit in a window or on a door - you can do it!!! Check out your local 'dollar store' or Walmart for cheaper Disney items and get creative. There is a DIScreative board here with all kinds of great ideas from clothes to Mousekeeping envelopes. Check it out.
