:woohoo: I am loving this thread!!!!

I have a quick question, were staying at POR May 5-12th and we requested a mansion. We didn't have a mansion in particular, I just didn't want an AB room. Does anyone know what mansion is close to a bus stop? What is the closet mansion to the main bus stop and resturants?

Also, we requested a King bed. Do they have King beds in the mansion section on the upper floors? I was hoping to get a room on the top floor, but I didn't know if this was possible. I want to make sure that the requests we fax down are realistic. :flower3:

It's a toss up between Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace to which one is closest to a bus stop. It could very well depend on where in the building you are located. Acadian House is close to the North depot and Magnolia Terrace is close to the East depot. The closest mansion to the main bus stop is probably Oak Manor with Magnolia Terrace a close second. Closest to the food court/restaurant is Magnolia Terrace. Magnolia Terrace is also closest to the main pool. From all this you can probably figure out why Magnolia Terrace is the most requested building! :goodvibes

Sorry, I don't know if they do or do not have King beds on upper floors. Maybe someone else might know? Or you could call POR direct at: 407-934-6000. Someone there should be able to help you out. :surfweb:

I haven't read through this entire thread yet so if this has been asked before I apologize. We would like to stay in a king room in the AB section if possible.

Do all the buildings have king rooms?

Anyone ever stayed in buildings 26,27,38 or 39? If so, what did you think. I am looking at the map of the resort and those look like they are in the middle. We kind of like that so we don't see a parking lot as our view.

building 39 was great for us. only a few mins to the bus stop, a little longer to the main building, but that won't bother you unless you are planning on eating there alot. there is no view of a parking lot. the greenery is absolutly beautiful. we were in room 3905, which was a corner room, 2 window as a bonus, and looked right out to the quiet pool. Man, this thread makes me wish i was back there this weekend instead of 4 months from now.

We too are staying at POR 4/30 - 5/9 and also want to stay in the mansions and have paid for a king bed. I understand that king beds are in the mansions, I was also hoping they were on a corner (two windows). That being said I'll watch this thread to find out what everyone says in relation to your questions. Have a great trip - see you there!:cool1:

We have requested AB for our May trip (due to five in our party and need for trundle). We have already reserved our carriage ride for the night of our arrival and are so excited! I do have a question about the main/theme pool. What kind of slide does it have? I have seen some pics of the pool area, but they don't show any of the slide. Any help or info would be great! :thanks:

We are going in May too and I also am wondering what the slide looks like. I would love to see pictures.

to get to the slide you don't go up the stairs but through the path between the chairs. Up to the little building.

These were taken early morning, before the water was turned on.

You might have a tough time finding a picture of the slide in it's entirety as it's surrounded by foliage. For what it's worth, it's a fairly tame but fun slide. If memory serves :confused3 , there's two or three turns at the POR slide. My kids (DD4 & DD8) loved it and went on it several times. We also went to the POFQ pool and tried the slide there. While it's pretty, it's fairly slow moving with only one turn. Both kids said they preferred "our" slide. :rotfl: Hope this helps! :surfweb:

The POR slide is almost twice as long as the POFQ one, and as has been said, it's a bit faster/twistier - all of which is quite odd as everyone always raves about the POFQ slide as being one of the best features of the pool area. I guess it's the themeing of sliding down the sea-serpent's tongue at POFQ which appeals, whereas the length of the POR slide is somewhat hidden away in the foliage.

Out of interest, the figures on the two pools that I've been able to find so far are:

POR area: 12,980 sq ft
POR volume: 158,000 gallons
POR slide: 95 ft

POFQ area: 8,500 sq ft
POFQ volume: 225,000 gallons
POFQ slide: 51 ft

(Actually, I reckon one of those two areas must be wrong, given the volume figures - unless the POFQ pool is deeper for a lot more of its area)

13 days until our first time to POR!! How's the weather there? We're coming from snow, windy and cold, so I guess just about any answer will do!! We can't wait!!

Have a great time McGoo. I wish I was going that soon. I have to wait until October!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions for particular bldg @ AB? We just made our ressies last week for this November! I'm so excited!!! I'm addicted to the planning madness!
This will be the first WDW trip for our twin DSs. Last time I was there was in the 80's...previously lived in Orlando and never went back.
Our college son will "grace us with his presence" 4 nights of the 9 nights we'll be there.
Just interested in which AB is best for 2 considerations...(1)convenience to bus stop (2)centrality to food courts?
Thanks!

In AB, buildings 14, 15, 16 or 18 are closest to the main building (food) and main bus depot. The buildings closest to the other depots would be buildings 24 or 34 (West Depot) and 37 (North Depot). See the map here:http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-riverside.htm :surfweb:

I'd go along with the 14 - 18 advice for an Alligator Bayou room, and add 27 too as that's also pretty central. My own choice in a perfect world would be AB rooms 1409-1416, or the row above those, with 1412 (from memory) as a corner room being pretty much perfect.

Actually, I've recently completed the room-locations & requests section of my Port Orleans website (www.portorleans.org) and would appreciate any comments from the experts here as to whether I've missed any really useful tips out - or just got something plain wrong of course! Many thanks everyone!

has anyone not gotten a room request granted when they checked in late. we will be getting to por around 10 pm. my requests are first floor (my sister will be in a wheelchair) facing a quiet pool. we paid for a water view, but iknow the kids would be disappointed if we were looking at the river. there will be 5 of us going, so i now we will be in AB. I have read that building 14 is reserved for those with medical conditions, but I do not want that bldg (no water view rooms from what I can see looking at the map). i should point out we don't need a roll in shower or anything like that, she is mobile but can not handle all the walking that is required when going to wdw.
