We are travelling to POR 2/19 for 5 nights and was hoping you can help me decide which building to put on my room request. It will be DH, and my two girls who are 9.

The last time I stayed at POR was back in 5/05 (Memorial Weekend). I had requested bldg. 14 in Alligator Bayou as we needed a trundle bed. We ended up in bldg. 28. We were not crazy about the location at all. Such a walk to the bus stop and to the food court. But we had the trundle bed.

So I was hoping to try again for bldg. 14 this time, but was wondering about the Mansion section. Which one of those bldgs is closest to the food court and a bus stop? Looks like building 90 would be good. The mansions look beautiful from the outside. I was not a fan of the exterior (swamp-like) or interior of the Alligator Bayou section at all.

I wish we were staying at POFQ - but since they are refurbishing the pool I thought it would be best to stay at POR. Plus - we want to catch the show in the lounge one night (I think his name is Bob). Seems like fun.

Thanks!

We were in building 18. It was great, close to everything but at the sametime far enough away not to hear any noise. I made my request when reserving, then I called about 3 days prior to confirm everything. We checked in just before noon. I think that helped too.

Thanks for the photos Beth, it reminded me how beautiful the resort is, can't wait to go again in August :)

Ohio Mom--Great photos! DD looks sooo:)

Has anyone done the pirate cruise lately?
Looking for up to date info...

Traveling to the POR for week of 2/19 with my DH and 8 year son. Does anyone know if this hotel offers hairdryers in the room. Also...does anyone know what the weather is like in February?? Wondering if going swimming will be an option.

This is my first trip that I am actually staying in Disney so any tips or helpful advise is appreciated.

I just booked a trip 3 days ago with AAA rate - was better than an AP rate. Got POR for 4 nights (jan 24 to Jan28th) for a total of $536.44

Yes, there are hairdryers in each room.

Never been in February, not sure how warm the water is kept in pool (whether it's heated or not?) I think the pools are open all year round though.

Once you've stayed in a Disney Resort you may never want to stay offsite ever again. You are gonna love it!!! YOu pick a Great 1st Resort---PO (either side Riverside or French Quarters--both are Wonderful).
Have a Magicial Trip!!!

I just booked my kids on the pirate cruise that leaves from the POR marina. Does anyone have any information on this? They've done the one at CBR and loved it. We thought we'd try this one this year, but I'm afraid it wont be as good. :confused3

What time is the POR cruise?pirate:

how can i post pictures from the my pictures part of my computer? we were in building 39 in rooms 3905 and 3906 and i could not have asked for a better location. we were far enough from a road that we heard not one car and when we opened our front door, i could see the kids swimming in the quiet pool that was 5 feet from our door.

Any updates on the days when Bob, the Piano Player plays. We'll be going to WDW in May and would like to go over to POR to see him.

Hello POR lovers! In the past few hours I planned a spontaneous trip to Disney with my mom. The trip will be very very brief arriving January 29 for 2 days. My DH will be staying home with DS12 and DS16 (this went over really well with my boys; not!). However, I am excited to be spending a few days just me and my mom. :thumbsup2

I am looking forward to trying POR! Just a quick question.....does anybody know how long the boat trip takes from Riverside to Downtown Disney? Thanks for your help. :)

It's a very nice boatride, about 30 minutes. A good time to relax after shopping at DTD. Hope you have a great time with your mom.

Thanks for the quick response. We plan to spend part of an afternoon at DTD, so, the ride sounds like the way to go!

Another great time for a boat ride (if it's not too cold).....If you're using the bus to get from POR to the parks, instead of taking the night bus back to POR, take it to DTD then catch the boat back to POR. The last boat from DTD to POR leaves at either 11 or 11:30. DH and I did that then grabbed a cup of hot chocolate from the Riverside Mill and sat outside by the "River". It was a very nice way to end the day.:goodvibes
