Thx! Ok==so how far would it be to walk from the AB section to the nearest coffee/hot cocoa place?

We were a bit of a ways back in the AB section. But, we had the mugs and felt that we got more than our moneys worth. We filled them up each morning on the way to the main bus stop, we filled them up as soon as we got home from the resort, on our way back, and, it's a quick run from the main pool to the food court, so, we would run from the pool to there to fill them up multipe times.

Thanks. I was hoping those would seem long...especially EPCOT because I noticed how close it is to the resort.

Yeah, no worries, I went with those times from laughingplace, or somewhere liked that, and, then, was pleasantly surprised by the bus rides, no where as long as those times! Not even close.

We were at POR the weekend & week after Thanksgiving and found the bus issue to be non-existant. I was soooooo worried about it and found it to be such a small part of the whole trip. With that said, keep in mind that the weekend was quite busy and the rest of the week was not busy at all. So we had a taste of both scenarios. Sure we waited here & there for a bus, but nothing major. I am not a patient person & I'm very big on convenience, but again, I found the bus situation to not be a big deal at all. We were in bldg 27 and used the south depot (the main depot) & the east depot. It seemed about the same distance to both. The trend seemed to be that if the bus filled up after POFQ and the south depot, then a new bus would be sent to the next ones. If it wasn't full, it would move on to the next and so on. So we probably waited a "tad" longer at the East depot, but it wasn't as crowded. If you ask me which bldg I would stay in to be closest to the bus depots, I would say #'s 14 & 15, but if there's something else that appeals to you in another area of the resort go for it. In fact, if I stay here again, I will definitely try the Mansion areas simply for the different surroundings w/out really caring about the location to the main bldg. The resort has so much to offer that the bus issue is not really that horrible. I anguished over this before I went & my advice to you is to not make your decision based on the bus situation. It is not a big deal.

Another tip that I have regarding this resort is if you're thinking of riding the surrey bikes, don't do it at the start of your trip. I'm not in the worst shape, but was sore from all that pedaling (which was a lot of fun). Save it for the end when you don't have do all the walking at the parks.

We were at POR from Dec 9-15th and stayed in the AB section. We were in building 38 and room 3837. I was worried it would be far from the food court but it wasn't bad at all. Basically we were just over the bridge past the pool. We swam in the quiet pool one day although it was pretty cold water. We were just a few minutes from the North stop. I am so thankful we had that stop because it was always empty when we jumped on in the AM. The South stop in front of POR was always the most crowded. We had no issues except for our last morning when we headed to MGM midmorning and then one night coming home from MK. We made it on the buses but had to stand from MK.

I was very worried as well but truely enjoyed being driven around everywhere. :thumbsup2

Any POR pics to share?? We'll be there for the first time ever on 1/31 and want to get in the spirit!!!

And we got some kind of coupon for searacers---does anyone know if we can use that at POR (and how old u have to be to drive one)

I'm somewhat new to the Disboards...I posted a few questions last year before my trip to ASMu, but mostly I just read all the great tips and info. My DD and a friend stayed in a family suite in April...the suites are very nice, but this year it's just going to be me and a friend and I'd like to try POR. Can anyone tell me what kind of discount I can actually get with AAA. Last year I ended up making some changes to my vacation package, but this year I'd like to get it right the first time So before I even call, I'd like to know what I can expect. Also, I know that the moderates have fridges, but if I bring a small microwave, is that allowed in the room? Thanks for any help you all can give me!

Yes they have them there. We didn't get to use our coupons, I was bummed....so was DS 10! I can't remember the age you have to be to ride one.

As for pictures, someone on the board sent me this link (DIS won't let me post it as a link so take the spaces out)
www . suite disney /wdwphotos/mod/port_orleans___riverside.htm[/url]

But it has ALL sorts of pics if you go to the main addy.

This year I used a AAA agent and got a discount on our package but I believe if you call yourself you only get a discount on the room, not the package. Try looking on Mousesavers they give some info on AAA discounts.

http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#AAA

Oh I just fond this on Mousesavers:
http://www.mousesavers.com/packages.html (scroll to the bottom)

"Be aware that AAA offers a room discount that applies ONLY to full price packages. If a better promotional package comes out (and it frequently will), you can switch to the new promotion, but you lose the AAA discount. You can only pick one or the other."

We are leaving in 5 weeks, for our first ever stay at POR and I am excited.

Can you help me with a question?

What is the Bouny Platter at Riverside? and How many drinks come with it?

thanks callie

Definitely rent the SeaRaycer at POR. DH and I had a blast. 90 minutes sounds like a long time but it goes by quickly. don't know about the age as that wasn't one of our concerns.

You'll love POR. The grounds are so nice. Try to schedule time to hang around the resort. I scheduled a "do-nothing" day and we spent the whole day at the resort....rented SeaRaycer, booked an evening carriage ride, played in the arcade, shopped at Fulton's General Store, got a mug of hot chocolate and sat beside the Sassagoula River people-watching, ate at the food court (twice). We stayed in Alligator Bayou and walked to Magnolia Bend then to the French Quarter.

Let's see what pics I have.....

Sorry for the big pics. I tried to resize them but it didn't work. Hope this helps you get in the POR mood. Hope you have a magical vacation.

I LOVE water/pools/hot tubs etc... so i was wondering if there are any hot tubs on site and if so how many AND are they nice?

Hi!
We are leaving for our first trip to WDW in 19 days! :cool1:

Can anyone tell me if there is a charge for the trundle bed in the AB rooms?

Thanks!
Jen

Thanks for the pics! Your day at POR sounds great! I've tried to work in at least half a day--except my teen is viewing it as a "sleep-in" day! Maybe the searacers would wake her up!

POR in less than 12 days !! Will we make it???!!!

I'm at CSR next weekend but I think I will plan to run over to POR and get some pictures for the first post. I don't think I'll be able to get room photos though. I may have to change those.
