Dumb question...did anyone drink the water from the faucets in the hotel rooms at POR? I usually go to the store and buy a bunch of bottled water on vacations. But we won't have a car this time so I'm going to have to drink from the tap. Does it taste okay or is it gross?

Everyone keeps talking about the create your own salads and pasta thing. Anyone know where I can find out what all you can put on your pasta and salad there?

Are there plenty of ice machines nearby the rooms at POR?

The tap water is drinkable, but not wonderful. For some reason the water you can get at the faucet in Riverside Mill in the drink area tasted great. So, you could always load up on water from there.

We had the make your own pasta twice while we were there. I haven't gotten that far on my report, but here's what I remember is available, and sorry in advance if I got anything wrong:

Pasta: spaghetti, linguini, penne

Sauces: alfredo, tomato, pesto

Meat Toppings: shrimp or chicken

Veggies & stuff: peas, mushrooms, olives, artichoke hearts, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, onions, pine nuts, parmesean cheese (I think I may be missing a thing or two - can anyone else remember?)

This is wonderful to get, and definitely something you can split between two people. You also get garlic toast with the meal. Yummy.

And I don't know about the ice machines, but there was one fairly close to us. I'm sure they have them appropriately spaced around the place.

Thanks for the info. If I buy water bottles at the parks and save them...could I refill them with water at the drink area at riverside mill? Then I could just put them in the fridge in our room (if we have one. not sure if all the rooms do or not.)

To take a used water bottle that you hacve already drank out of, and put it up to a public water faucet/source would be very unsanitary as it spreads germs.

A. The water bottle doesn't touch the spout in the fountain.
B. Water fountains are pretty much germ factories anyway. So if you're germaphobic, you probably shouldn't use one at all.
C. Little kids using fountains are going to spread way more germs than a water bottle that isn't even touching anything.
D. If germs bother a person...I don't even think I'd recommend Disney parks to them at all. They are germ filled places.

The water station at Riverside Mill is a gooseneck faucet over a sink, so it makes it really easy to fill things up.

As far as I know, the mod's put refrigerators in all of the rooms...at least that is my experience

If you are on the Dining Plan you can get 2 drinks with your Breakfast.
So I already had my Refillable Cup for Coffee and would get 2 water bottles,
drink one for breakfast and put the extra in the Fridge in the room.
During the Day I would use my Snack credit for water.
We did buy a few bottles in the gift shop but had some left at the end of our trip so
we each brought a bottle to drink before going thru airport security.
We had plenty of water just with the DDP.

Yeah...that sounds like a good plan. We aren't doing the dining plan though. So I'll probablyl just buy a few bottles to refill every day.

Just returned from a special holiday at YC, DH wants to return there but that means a lot more saving! Have shown him POR and he's interested (not so much saving up either!). I have got to work my way through this huge thread but just a quick question for those in the know - are there taxi cabs waiting that we can catch if the bus situation is not too good.

I know I saw taxi's fairly often but since we had no problem what so ever with the buses I didn't pay that close of attention. We used the main bus stop while we were there in Sept. You could probably call the hotel and ask about the taxi situation. Good luck, sorry I could give you more info.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving eveyone!:)

No problems for us either. The only time I think a taxi might be worthwhile (worth the money) is if you are going from 1 resort to another for an ADR and you need to be there at a certain time. Otherwise you will have to make transfers, but even then I would use the bus unless I was running late and wouldn't make it on time.

We are staying here for Christmas this year and have water view rooms.:thumbsup2 Could anyone suggest a building that is close to the hot tub?

Thanks!
Linda

I know this question has been asked 100 +1 times:rolleyes1 , but I need a building recommendation for POFQ. It will just be DH and I and we are looking for something quiet, away from the pool. Walking doesn't bother us. I was looking at the resort map and thought maybe 1 or 6. Advice please! This iwll be our first visit to FQ.

I was in building 7 once and it was real quiet back there. It was closest to POR if you wanted to walk over there.

My husband and I stayed at POR in the AB section last October for our Honeymoon and we loved it! Here are some of our pictures (sorry if I mess up posting, this will be my first photo post).

Wow! Great photos! I think that's the best photo I've seen of the main pool yet!
Thanks for sharing them! :)

I thought I'd do something fun and show you the trip to the South bus depot from our room at Parterre Place via photos. The walk only took us 4 minutes, which just flew by!

Leaving our room, which was at the back of the building:

Going around the building (this is the front):

Crossing the nearest footbridge:

Stopping to take in the view of the Sassalouga:

Taking the path around that leads to the front of the main building, past the luggage storage room and the main entrance:

And we're here!

Thanks for the great pics!
We stayed in the Mansions (Magnolia Manor-very nice) on our last trip and
Parterre Place was my favorite Mansion style, I loved the ironwork.
So next trip I booked POFQ because of all of the Iron rails on all
of the buildings.
And I grew up in Louisiana and work as a tour guide in a Plantation Home.
I love the architecture at both of the PO resorts:love:
It makes me feel at Home. :goodvibes
