We are staying at POR. But what if we want to look at the other resorts for fun? Like the other moderate ones and the deluxe ones. Can we take a bus from our hotel to the other hotels? Or would we have to rent a car or get a cab? I've always wanted to go in the Grand Floridian.

Buses do not go directly from resort-to-resort.

To go to the GF, take the bus to the MK and then take the monorail. You can also check out the Poly and CR on the monorail loop.

The easiest way to visit other MODs from POR is to catch a resort bus from DTD or while you are at a Park (look for the Resort on the list and go the
the # for that Resort).
Depending on the resort you will have to return to either the Closest Park or DTD to get back to POR.
As for an easy way to see the Deluxe resorts, we always make Dining ADRs at their Resaurants and take a self guided tour of the lobby, grounds before or after eating (this works great since we cannot afford to stay at the Deluxe resorts-I get my fix just looking around).:thumbsup2

So they don't care if you walk around the grounds/lobby of other resorts?

The parks will pretty much be closing at 8pm while we're there. So if we want to go to the hotels and look at them after that...can we use the DTD bus? How late will that bus run?

So we can take the bus or boat from POR at night to DTD. Then hop a bus from DTD to..let's say...the caribbean beach resort. Walk around. Then hop a bus back to DTD?

You sure can! The boats stop running about 10pm I think. But the busses run late like 2 am? Just remember that some resorts are cool at night, but some wouldn't be worth the time to try to tour them at night. I think CSR looks gorgeous at night. Not sure about CBR. I know that POR isn't much to look at at night IMHO.

Yeah, we're trying to think of things to do after the parks close. We just want to do something relaxing. We'll probably end up going to the pool or something. Maybe downtown Disney. And then to bed early. I guess we're boring like that.

So glad I came to this thread! We're a family of 5 and want to go to disney in May 09 - just got back last month from a stay at the Poly. Yesterday I was running some numbers and I'm not sure if we can swing a deluxe the next time. DH and I have been to POR (then DL) twice before kids and loved it so I decided to check out this thread. The pics here have taken me back to when we went - its such a beautiful resort!

DH and I always swam in the quiet pool and I was wondering about the main pool. Curious about how deep it gets and where the slide comes out. DS8 wants to be able to touch coming off the slide. DH and I stayed in AB 25 & 27 or 28 and we had no issues whatsoever. I remember it being quite a walk but w/2 adults we didn't care. We would need a trundle bed - are those just in certain areas or are they spread throughout AB. We would need something fairly close to everything - probably Building 18 or 14. Thanks for any add'l info. In calculating these numbers we can do Disney in 09. Maybe we could do a split stay w/Poly or BC.

I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, but...
we've stayed at (and loved) POR at the Mansion section, never the AB section. I'd like to see the "other side" but my DH and DS are hesitant...
Have any of you ever gone to a different section than what they're used to and been happier or disappointed?

Thanks!

We haven't stayed at either yet. but we're hoping to get AB. We even requested certain buildings that are farther away from the main buildings. We're hoping to get a quieter section of the resort.

DH and I stayed in the mansions back in 1997 before kids. We really liked it. This year, now that we have 3 kids, we stayed in the AB section and really loved it. I would have to say that I liked the AB section much better. The foliage really does it for me. We were in bldg 18. It was very convenient to everything, yet quiet. Here is the view from our room:

:cloud9: Thanks for the pic again DM! I should copy it somewhere for my "wishing" folder!
Hey can you pool hop to the FQ?? Which pool is better? (probably neither in February! )

Anytime! Yes, you can pool hop over to FQ. I can't tell you which is better as I've never been over to the FQ.

If anyone wants me to repost my AB photos, I'll be glad to. Just let me know...

We thought the FQ pool was a lot smaller than we thought it would be so never pool hopped, we prefered the quiet pools to the main one too, yep I know we're weird :rotfl:

We did go to the FQ pool. My DD LOVED the slide there but wouldn't think of doing it at POR. On one of the boat rides the captian said the FQ slide was an old Mardi Gras float. We had fun at both pools.

Great pictures! We requested building 25, 26, 28, or 39.

Were there any bus stops you found to be less crowded than others? Does the bus stop at them in a specific order?

Hi Jo!
The pool pics look pretty neat, so I bet Beth Ann will jump in at least once. Hey--She says to thanks Ellie for the cute pet pics. (I'll repost that on TFW)

That's cool! :thumbsup2 My girls are 10 (11 then) and 14 so they usually love the slides...well, except my teenager doesn't like her bathing suit to get messed up.

Us too! Since it's just DH and I! :thumbsup2 ;)

ETA: Yes, we're leaving the kids home on purpose. LOL
