Oh, and I'd save the money and not get a waterview....I didn't see anywhere where there is a great view of water, LOL...Just of the "ponds" I posted. (ok I guess its part of the Sassagoula river but really they look like ponds, LOL) At least in the area where I was staying. ;)

I am so excited about checking in in 5 days!!! We stayed at POFQ last year, so it will be fun to check out POR this time. We requested the same building, so we shall see what happens.

Anything you guys want me to try and pay attention to in regards to questions you might have? I can't promise I will note them all, but I can at least have them in mind while on property.

I am just so excited!

I stayed in the Mansions and had a waterview. The view was of the River. But there was so much plantation u could barely see it and also I was never in the room. January is a standard view for me.
I don't think waterview is worth it

We share your excitement. We have trips to Florida planned for this December and another for June 2008. The December trip is for USF (RPR) and June is for WDW (ASM).

Enjoy your stay!

We're checking in in 5 days, too! Hopefully in Parterre Place. Woo Hoo! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We just got back from an 8 night stay. We requested a room with a trundle bed in Alligator Bayou and if possible in building 14 or 18. When we arrived at 4:00 pm, we were told that were going to be in Acadian House in Magnolia Bend and our room wasn't ready yet. We were so tired from traveling with two small children and all we wanted to was to crash for a few hours before dinner.

We waited at the playground which was a Godsend for over an hour before we were told that our room was ready. We headed over to Acadian House and it turned out that we were on the 3rd floor even! At least here there was an elevator. I was so very disappointed at the time.

But it turned out alright. We were in a very nice room and we have pretty close access to the pool and the main building. There was a laundry room right next to us and the North bus stop was right behind out building. The buses often came to the back bus stops first and then went to the one at the main entrance so we never had a problem with full buses.

I guess what I am trying to say is not to pin too much hope on building requests as it really depends on how busy they are. And for us what we ended up with was probably better than what we requested! The check in time was really rough for us no matter how you look at it, but we really enjoyed the rest of our stay!

we checked in about noon and I room was ready. We put the suitcases in and went to MK. I did notice that right after I checked in a bus pulled up, I think for the cruise line and check in got really busy! Or maybe it was a ME bus.... I saw both there.

Sorry you had check in problems. I called a few days before hand to confirm my reservations and then with the early check in, I think that helped with getting what we requested.....and maybe me saying it was for DD's 5th birthday :)

Yep that was me over on MizDiz's trip report....once I saw those matching outfits I had to post.....it has to be them I saw, LOL.

We had room 1842, its second floor, building 18. I don't know if it ever was a smoking room or not but there was no odor at all.

Here is the map of POR: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-riverside.htm

We parked in the lot closest to building 15 then walked a path to our building, not far at all. There is alos a path from said parking lot to the bus stop at the main building. Again not far at all.

The pictures I posted were "standard view." as for price we did the package, with 6 day hoppers and free dining and it was about $2264. I used AAA this time. My TA was good but I think I will book it myself next time, just easier to make changes or call and see if you have a "pin" attached to your name.

And my horse fit just fine! LOL :cutie:

Hi! We will be going in April and we have to stay in AB we are a family of 5. I am going to try and request bldg 18, because my husband is a smoker and there seems to be a smoking spot right near that building. I also booked with AAA, who do I call to request the room, AAA or POR? And what is a "pin" attached to your name? I never heard of that. Thanks!!:)

We'll be there same time as you and I also requested building 18 with my AAA agent. I am not so sure we are going to get it because we check in late. Our flight doesn't get in until 9 pm, and who knows what time we will actually get to POR.

I had AAA put the room requests in when I made the original reservations. The a few days before I called the resort directly to confirm and double check the requests were made. As for the pin, what I understand from reading the boards here (some one correct me if I have this wrong) Sometimes you have a discount attached to your name and maybe you didn't receive the post card or email so a CM can check for you. I have heard that people have called a few times and at first they are told no then later its a yes, so keep trying. I didn't bother to call and check because of the free dining, it was a good discount for my family of 5.

I had AAA put my request in. I will fax 3 days before I arrive to remind them.

I read on TGM that they get so many faxes now that its become almost a nuisence, thats why I called and then I had a name of who I spoke with and everything, not just for the room requests but the reservation in whole.

Did u call POR directly? If so how far in advance? I already have the request in through AAA, the lady on the phone at Disney heard me talking and took my request. Big mouth here. LOL

LOL, I double checked with my AAA TA that she had put the request in and then I called POR directly about 3 days before we were to arrive. We arrived on a Sunday and I checked in about noon. Room was ready and I had gotten my building request. Now if we stay there again, I may ask for a building and a corner room - you get two windows with a corner room.

Thanks for all the room tips folks! And good to know about calling vs. faxing--I was wondering about that (particularly since I don't have a fax machine! )

Continuing to read from the POR gurus...

LOL....... I really enjoyed POR. I saw many windows decorated. I was so mad I left my door magnet at home with all my LGMH! I didn't see any TFW signs, only one person at Epcot with the lanyard..... so even though I lurk on that thread... I had to do the Focker watch move, LOL.

Where are you flying out of? We are on Long Island and I am still debating if we are going to fly or drive. I can get good rates on the way down out of JFK, but the prices on the way back are CRAZY:scared: !! I am going to call my AAA TA now and request a corner room in AB bldg 18. Thanks for all the great info!!

I feel like such a traitor!!!!

Ever since we booked, we had hoped to stay at CSR, but could not get the FL rate. It just opened up today, and we took it. Since we stayed at POFQ last year, I was kind of hoping to try a different theme. I hope you will forgive me for jumping ship with POR. I definately plan to stay there next time.
