I have been doing some reading, and it appears that to go to any of the other resorts, or to downtown Disney, it is quite an effort to get there. I thought if we stayed at POR or FQ, we would be able to get a few more places easier. Plus staying at Coronado, while eating at the food court, they add on an extra 10% if you eat it there. That may not be a lot, but, we just trying to get the most of our stay. From what I understand if you don't have a car, and we won't, you have to catch a bus to a park then catch another bus to get to where we would need to go. Is this not correct? It have been 9 years since we have been to Disney, and we have never stayed on site.

Yes, to get from 1 resort to another, you take the first theme park bus that shows up, and from the park you take the bus to the other resort. It's not a big deal, just a little time consuming sometimes.

The only difference with POR and POFQ is that you can take the boat to DTD and get a resort bus from there. Might be faster, but I don't think it always would be. It depends on how crowded it is.

I think "resort to resort" take about 40 minutes to an hour.

In addition to the boat to DTD you can also get the bus (the boat only runs like from 4 - 11P.M. - something like that). The bus would probably be a lot faster than the boat, though I haven't taken the boat, so I can't say for sure. From DTD you can get a bus to any of the resorts. We did a lot of 'resort hopping' to see the holiday decorations during our December trip. While I did have a car, after driving from PA, driving is last thing I wanted to do, LOL. The longest 'trip' getting from one place to another was from Boardwalk to DTD and that took about 40 minutes. But we had to wait for a second bus because there were so many people, it was about 10:00 - 10:30 P.M. so there were many couples heading to Pleasure Island.

This was almost two years ago (May 2004) so things could have changed, but my friend and I took the boat to DTD around breakfast time, so at least back then it started before 4pm. I know it does end at something like 11pm; that probably depends on the day/season.

Actually, we didn't take the boat to DTD. We just took the boat by DTD. We got breakfast at the food court and then got on the boat (it was our last day and we had been meaning to ride it). We ate breakfast on the trip to DTD and just stayed on and came back. It was very nice and relaxing. I recommend doing that! :thumbsup2

It looks like we will be changing our trip from CBR to POR. Just a few quick questions on POR. I'm assuming we will be staying in AB because we're a family of 5. Kids are 5, 7 and 8 so I don't think the trundle bed will be a problem size wise. However, just wanted to know if the trundle bed was comfortable enough or should we bring some sort of aerobed instead? Also wondered if there was enough room under the bed to store suitcases, it doesn't look like there is much room in the closet area. ALso if we bring an over the door toiletry thing will there be any problem closing the door?

Although I was initially upset that we were changing from CBR to POR I'm really started to get enthusiastic about the change. It seems as if POR has very loyal guests and repeat guests, which is always a good sign! Thanks for all the information you guys have shared.

A few questions: are there elevators in this building???? we didn't find any!

No, AB has no elevators. I believe the only moderate that does is Coronado Springs. If I'm wrong, someone will let us know. I've stayed at POR, in the AB section, so I know I'm right on that. Also stayed at CB, know that answer's right. Also stayed at CS, know they have elevators. Don't know for a fact about POFQ or POR-Mansions.

How's that for a weird, rambling response??? :confused3
Ab does not have elevators, but the mansions do. Hope this helps!

The POFQ has elevators at each end of the resort buildings. There are 3 floors there. Hope this helps!!

.

I know what you mean about being upset when having to change... we also had to change our resort plans, it took me awhile to adjust, but as I posted some pictures here earlier - we did have a fantastic time!!

1. We didnt use the trundle bed, nor did we look to see if there was an "under" bed - maybe because we were in the mansions - hope someone posts that has...

2. It may not look like there is much room in the closet area, but there was!! I cant say how long that shelf was but my parents stored bottles of liquor - :rotfl: They bring their own bar setup!! That's where I store my bag of toiletries - I will say the bathroom in the mansion was just big enough for the toilet and tub, but I didnt try to hook anything overthe door - and I needed a place to put some female essentials - so that was my gripe!!

There are just 3 of us, and we bring hanging shirts, and we unpack, it seems like dd gets2 drawers, I get one... and there was a bench of some sort next to the tv that we put a suitcase on...

I dont sound too helpful do I??? :wizard:

Also we wanted to go to DTD on our last day, and we didnt make it by boat, we saw the boat docked, we "ran" to catch it, but there weren't enough seats and we'd have to wait for the next boat, so we went to the bus depot and caught a bus, moving for me is better than standing in line, not sure which is "faster" but we did catch the bus back from DTD to POR - no lines, no people, (at the time we left DTD that is!) nice slow, peaceful ride!!

The trundle was definitely comfortable. Our kids were fighting over who would get to sleep in it each night!!!

There would be room under the bed for luggage, but i wouldn't worry. As eeyore45 said, the "closet area has lots of space. i always shiy away from putting things under the beds... as something might get left behind.

The AB rooms at POR were great!!! There were four of us and we had lots of room. The central pool was a great place to spend a "quiet" afternoon away from the parks.

Thank you all so much for your help. We have definitely decided to stay at POR. We are saving so much money over CBR that I'm going to add an extra day on to our res just to enjoy the resort.

Now, one more question - waterview or standard view? Is waterview worth it? I know that since it's a mod we won't have a great view like a deluxe balcony but I was wondering if it the buildings that everyone wants (14, 15, 18 and 27 by my count) have more waterview or standard view rooms. Hoping to increase our chances of getting a room close to Main buildings.
Thanks again to all the POR experts to have helped me!

We're only a family of 4 but we need the trundle because of the differences in age and sex our kids. Earlier on the thread someone said the trundle has an extra fee. How could I guarantee we get the trundle? I would request AB, I understand that is where the trundles are. Any experiences in this?
Thanks :sunny:

Our family of five will be staying at POR May 21st-28th. I know we will be staying in the AB section, but is there one section closer to the bus stops, main lobby, main pool then others? Just wondering what building to ask for.

We stayed in building 15 room 1522 towards the back of this building a few weeks ago and I would suggest asking for building 14. It is the closest to everything. Building 15 and 18 are also close but I still felt like it took forever to get to everything due to my feet really hurting while I was there. If you get building 15 or 18 asked to be in a room close to the front towards building 14. They were booked solid when we checked in and I did not get any of my request. We really had a great time and loved the resort. The food court was really good and we really did not have any long waits for buses even though they were booked up.

We were located in 1528 back in September. We loved this location! It was off the main path, but close enough to the main building! For our upcoming trip in August we requested either 15 or 14

Does the POFQ have available trundles available.

I don't think so. I believe trundles are only available at POR.

Did you ever get an answer to your question?

As far as the extra charge goes, I don't think they charge extra for that anymore. On Deb Will's site, it lists the rack rates and in the room type, it says 2 double beds and a trundle.

Also, I have made reservations with the free dining and they did not charge me extra. In fact, it was supposed to be during regular season but they backed up value season and gave me POR for the $139 a night. WooHooo! :goodvibes

So I think the information is wrong on the first post of this thread. Is there any way we can get that info changed?

As far as a guarantee to get the trundle with a party of 4, I'm guessing that if the resorts trundle rooms are going to be filled with parties of 5 during your stay, then the room would have to go to them. I could be wrong, but I don't think they would guarantee it, but you could try. Maybe they would give it to you and then when a party of 5 calls for a reservation, they would tell them they had no more rooms available, I don't know.

I would bring a twin blow up mattress if I were you. We have one and the kids love it and it's so easy to put up and take down.

Quick question for all the POR experts - how many drawers are in the armoire? This is my only worry about staying in a mod. I like to unpack everything and I was wondering how much drawer/closet space threre is. Thanks!
