Thank you very much! Have you used the resort check in? We need to leave the hotel by 8-ish (that's our 3 hr window) and I'm just wondering if it would be easier to lug our bags ourselves...any advice?

I've used the resort check-in twice and everything went fine. If I remember right, our last flight was about 11am so we left the resort about 8am. IMHO you'll be fine to check the bags at the resort.

Hello Everyone:goodvibes

I booked my solo trip about 10 days ago, the room portion that is, for Feb1-7, 2009. Will change to package when rates come out.

Just wanted to share that I called this Sat am and got a really nice person on the phone about where to stay there. I was lucky enough to get a friendly Cm who has stayed at POR several times. I said that I wanted a quiet room, but still close to the quiet pools and laundry. He suggested the Bayou and said he would put in a request. Just wanted to let you know I had a helpfull person, as I was not certain where i might might to be. I realize it is a request, but gosh he was decent. :goodvibes

It might be worth checking the Transportation area because I think if you are flying on an airline that is charging you to check bags you might not be able to check them at Disney unless you pre-pay. I know all the new airline fees are changing the game on us.

Alright, last question....anyone know when the last time POR was refurbished? Thanks!

Can anyone recommend specific rooms in the Alligator Bayou section, more specifically in building 90, that is close to the walkway to the main building? Thanks!

Erm, Building 90 is Oak Manor, which is one of the mansion buildings and not in Alligator Bayou at all. Which area are you looking for?

Let's call that a brain fart! I meant to say we don't want Alligator Bayou, I want Mansions! Thanks !!!

We found that the buses from the resort to the parks weren't bad though we did allow plenty of time. Coming home at night was often real bad. Even when we've stayed at other resorts we've noticed that the lines for POR buses seemed longer.

Thanks skater! I am okay waiting once we have been at the parks, just concerned about getting there. Hope we wont miss EMH.

Sorry if this was already talked about but it's 01:40 and I am too tired to read all hundred something pages here :lmao:

I've heard that room assigners don't like to really put parties of 2 into AB section... is this true? My hubby and I really want AB as the mansions don't seem to have the same appeal to us...

This is our first trip in a decade and we're there to celebrate both anniversary and birthday... is 4 days prior to arrival still when they assign rooms? I am not requesting any special upgrades or anything -- just section of the resort. Anybody out there as a party of 2 not get their request of AB? :confused3

Grin, OK.

If you want OaK Manor, waterfront view (i.e. near to the path) and close to the bridge over to the main buildings, I'd suggest rooms 9071-9074 on the ground floor or right above them 9271-9274 on the upper floor. Parterre Place 9529-9540 (ground) or 9729-9740 (upper) would be equally as nice, but just a little further away from the main pool.

Last year, DH and I stayed at AB for our 10th anniversary. I requested AB and got it with no problem. I didn't get the building I requested but actually liked the one we got even better - #16. It was convenient to food court and bus stop but just far enough away so as to not be right on the beaten path. Did you put in your request when you made your ressie? I made ours at that time and didn't call in at the 4 day mark like some have suggested but it surely wouldn't hurt. If budget permits, make sure to rent a sea-raycer (you'll get a discount coupon if you have a package) and go for a boatride down the Sassagoula to DTD, and go for a carriage ride in the evening. Both are very romantic and lots of fun. There are also benches along the SR that you can sit on at night with a mug of hot chocolate (or iced tea if you can't stand the heat). You're gonna love AB

My travel agent put in the request for AB and the 2 buildings... I definitely have been thinking of a carriage ride; didn't think of the sea-raycer but will consider that now.. We rode the boat down to DTD when we stayed at FQ... it's the way to go.

Definitely won't be hot chocolate in the beginning of September :rotfl:

I am getting so excited; ironically fireworks are going off here as I type adding to my excitement. HAPPY CANADA DAY to those of you like me 'North of the Border!' :cheer2:

TagsMissy: We're at POR for our 10th wedding Anniversary too, at the same time as your trip. Our anniversary is 21st August, we've got a meal booked at the California Grill. We've got our 8 yo DD with us this time though, so it'll be a little different to 10 years ago.

The sea-raycer coupon is "get 30 minutes free if you purchase 60 minutes" which will cost you $45. You'll need the 30 minutes extra for a nice drive to DTD and back. The raycers are governed down so they go pretty slow, not like those you see running around the lake at GF.

I guess hot chocolate would be a bit much in FL this time of year. It the perfect ending to a day with DH last Dec during our anniv trip. This year 17-y-o DD is going with me so I made ressie at the Pop since romance is not a concern.

Only 6 days left, and I am not sure if I want to put in a request for a certain building or area. DH and I are going without DS our first trip without him, for 3 nights. We are walkers, but I don't want to have to hike if we get a building to far away, we have stayed at CBR in Jamacia and enjoyed the walk to the main pool and food court. We want to relax at the quite pool also. That being said how far is the walk from building 36 or Acadian House if that is what we end up with? We plan on using the South Depot to get the bus to the Parks only doing 2 days at the parks, we have 4 full days we are arriving at 10am and leaving at 8:30pm.

Just came back from POR. I reserved a king room and requested mansions, near bus stop (bldg 80 to be exact), not on the first floor - and got AB, first floor, bldg 28, near.... well, near nothing at all :lmao: . We did get a nice corner room and ended up loving the location after all. Extremely quiet and so remote and rustic, it really had a special feel to it. But it was a hike to the bus (west depot) and to the main building.

We absolutely loved the resort, though, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
