Nicky Glad to hear the run/walk is helping with your knee problems. I'm with you on the pacing thing. Wouldn't be able to train without my Garmin. And my TM tolerance is likewise declining. I can do 5-6 max and that requires mental focus. I keep telling myself it's good mind training.
Ashleigh Congrats for signing up. If I stumble across a killer cheap airfare and equally cheap hotel, I still might consider doing Princess. Since it hasn't sold out yet, I guess I still have time.
Steve WTG for toughing out your race. Stomachs can really impact how races go, can't they? And glad you could turn it on at thend and beat that guy.
I did a 5k last Saturday-- a local Jingle Bell run for arthritis foundation. The good: Decent course--a little roll here and there, went thru a park and onto a local parkway, finishing at a horse race track. Always nice to have an indoor place to wait for these cold weather races. And people in costumes make it fun. The not-so-good: Even though I registered day before, they wouldn't give me a shirt then (I did snag one after the race, although not in my size), the race was chip timed, but no start mat--and with 1000 runners it would have taken at least 10 seconds or so to get everyone across, so the times are somewhat suspect (and there were age group awards).
I ran without a watch or garmin and decided to go fast to see what I could do. So mile 1-fast, mile 2-slower, mile 3 to finish--ok, with little sprint at end (someone came up behind me and I didn't want to let them pass!) Finished in 23:18, which is a PR for me.
Had a little soup after (small sample of tortilla soup from Qdoba). rolls, cocoa, coffee.
Trying to start painting the kitchen this week--at least the ceiling beofer heading off to a COLD WDW.
