It's the "little things"... what's yours?

My daughter was 4, pigtails in her hair and her autograph book in hand. We were waiting to meet the princesses (Aurora, Belle, and Cinderella - in that order). She turns to look at my wife and me and tells us, "this is the best day of my life." At that moment, I made the decision to bring her back to WDW as many times as I could until she told me to stop.

That memory is burned into my memory. Much like the memories of many in this thread, I could walk back to the exact spot where that happened.

The best part is that something like that happens every trip. The little things...

For me I took my kids to 1900 Park Fair to see Cinderella and my elder daughter (5yo) was just speechless. After Cindy left the table she said "Mommy thank you so much for bringing me on this trip." Best!

Disney Magic - my 7 year old, who is way too smart, explaining to her little sister that there is no such thing as magic, except at Disney World. Disney Magic is real.

Exactly. :cloud9:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Casey pictures of your son! What an awesome idea! I also like the cute Sci Fi Dine In family photos in your ticker. Why do they have to grow up so fast???? Mine are 14 and 16 right now and I'm dreading the empty nest in just 3 short years:worried:.
ps

thank you! We had a great time this past trip doing a bunch of pictures specifically to recreate some earlier ones (link to some are below. I've still got about 100 more in the works across all our trips that I'm not done with.)

My daughter is graduating this May and going to school in Oregon, son is in his third year of college in Texas. They were little bitty just . . . yesterday!

But if this month's trip taught me anything, it's that they may fly away, but they'll always come home for Disney World!;)

For me, it's just walking around down by Settlement Trading Post and having a meal at Trails End and walking through Fort Wilderness. That's it. The place to be.

For me it's the first walk down Main Street, browsing the merchandise all through the trip and eating at Ohanas

For me it is the first glimpse of the castle....pure magic!

No trip would be complete without riding It's a Small World first. We begin each trip with that ride. "It's a small world after all. It's a small world after all....." you know you are singing along right now :)

At Blizzard Beach - when you are just about to get into your raft on Teamboat Springs and you take a moment to look out at the view and you can see almost EVERYTHING in Walt Disny World!!! It's such a cool view, but then you have to jump into your raft and get going :)

At Typhoon Lagoon - when you are in the big Wave pool and you hear the RUMBLE!!! right before the wave comes again, and EVERYONE SCREAMS!!! :hyper:

I love both of these. I spent a lot of time enjoying the view up there as we rode Teamboat Springs countless times.

And yes, you can hear those screams all through TL :lmao:

-Magic Kingdom Welcome Show! (I tear up every time)

-The music to Fountain of Nations

-That moment on Test Track before the door to outside opens

-At the end of Soarin'...first when everyone applauds at the end, then when Patrick tells everyone to press the button on their right...and you hear everyone 'click' at once!

-The music that plays around World Showcase before Illuminations starts

-That moment of bliss on a hot August afternoon, when we're all relaxing by the pool just enjoying being there.

:)

Are you me?? My exact sentiments! Especially the Test Track and August ones. Bliss!!

The Casey statue that's marked my son's growth on every trip

This made me cry. What a great memento to have!!! I wish I had thought it when my kids were small :(

My list:

The feel of the hot August air as you step out of your room early in the morning. It's thick and wet and just feels GOOD.

The song they play on the bus to AK - http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Hapa+Duniani/ehIih?src=5

Hanging out on a bench in Germany with a bier, pretzel, and my family. Just resting and rejuvenating...soaking in the atmosphere.

The smell of the Pop Century lobby.

The vibe of Pop Century, in general. Always buzzing. I love the liveliness of it.

Our fave way to end a night - sitting at a table outside of Petals bar (Pop) with a double gin and tonic with 2 limes (me) and a Yuengling (him) watching our kids play ping pong. It's heavenly.

THe Michaelangelo scene in SSE. I love the music there. I close my eyes as we go through and just absorb the sounds.

What a great idea! Wish I'd done something like that.

-Riding the Monorail for the first time on the trip & hearing THE voice
-Eating your first Mickey Bar of the trip
-The excitement of showing up at your first ADR
-The floral smell of the Grand Floridian lobby (takes me back every time)
-The Circle of Life playing as Animal Kingdom Opens in the morning(I get emotional every time, I can't help it)
-Visiting my first gift shop of the trip
-The first time you get hit by one of Typhoon Lagoon's surf waves
-The relaxing, calming feeling I get while riding The Land
-Riding POTC for the first time and THAT water smell lol
-Walking into the stretching portrait room of HM and then later turning the corner to see Madame Leota and later awaiting the Opera Singer Ghost. I also can't help anxiously over analysing the Bride & Little Leota "Ghost Hostess" faces, expecting to catch a different look or whisper

I could go on, but thats a good list for now :goodvibes

My favorite 'little thing' has got to be getting dragged out in the early morning by DS to go make sand castles on one of the Caribbean Beaches. We've been doing that together since our first stay there in '09, and I love it as much as he does. Even our last trip, when we stayed elsewhere, we had to make a special trip to CBR to build some, since we couldn't find any beaches at Port Orleans.

Watching Tinkerbell fly from the castle to Tomorrowland during Wishes! On our last trip, my DD and I stood near where she lands and waved and yelled "Tinkerbell!" She waved and blew us a kiss!

As so many others have expressed, THANK YOU to the OP for starting this thread! This thread and restored my faith in the humanity among DISers. I've heard FP+ complaints for months. My family and I have not been to WDW since 2009 and the DISboards was always such a warm and friendly place. I return five years later to start planning for our May, 2014 trip and there seems to be such negativity and, in some cases, down right whining about a lot of things.

Anyway, here are a few of my contributions to the "little things":

- Photo ops around the geosphere at Epcot
- Boat rides: From MK to GF, WL to MK and back, POR to DTD
- The authenticity of the Irish Pub at Raglan Road, DTD
- Quiet pools at CSR and POR
- A frozen cocktail by the pool on a warm Florida day
- On RnRC, waiting....then the light turns GREEN!
- Even though I don't eat them, the smell of turkey legs on Hollywood Blvd
- Watching "Wishes" from atop the Contemporary
- Resort hopping....just having a look around!
- The lady in the Japan pavilion that makes the candy animals! Amazing!
- The Tower of Terror advertisement board in the median before you reach Hollywood studios
- Seeing Devine at Animal Kingdom
- Views from Astro Orbiter at night

As a previous poster stated: Disney magic is REAL magic! pixiedust:
