It's the little things that bother me...Cast Member parking around Villas

We checked into Old Key West on Thursday Feb 20th. I couldn't find any parking in the parking lot at the Front Desk parking area or at the villas across the street. I went through the 4 way stop over to the next closest parking lot only to have the last spot taken by a Cast Member in uniform who was going to work at Olivia's. Finally found a spot across the street in the next parking lot where the old sales center was located. When I walked over to the front desk area I saw two Cast Members get into their cars in the front desk area parking lot and leave.

Old Key West Cast Members have their own parking lot that DVC members are not allowed to park in. They shouldn't be taking up parking around the Villas or Front Desk parking area.

Another in a long line of examples of the continued downward slide of DVC's member service.

That would bother me also (maybe that means the little things bother me too?) I encourage you to write a note or Email to Member satisfaction when you get home. CMs shouldn't be taking the parking that's meant for guests since they have a CM parking lot. Meanwhile, try to make lemonade out of lemons and think of the extra calories you burn off by walking further-they'll allow you to eat more yummy snacks at WDW!

Did you say anything to anyone? If you don't speak up it won't change. Next time go find a manager or, as the previous poster suggested, write a letter. I recently had a negative experience at the Grand Floridian. I wrote a letter, sent it to both the GF and DVC and heard back from both of them.

YES!

I provide both positive and negative feedback on my stays quite frequently to MS.

Gosh, this is one of my pet peeves. We have a little store here where I live and I can never park in the their lot because the employees take all the spots! I hate that.

OhioDVC....I keep seeing your posts pop up here and there and all I have seen recently are negative things you say about DVC. Nothing seems to live up to your expectations. If you hate it so much, why don't you sell? From WDW to Hawaii....B&M about everything. You are either just very hard to please or you have some kind of vendetta going on regarding DVC. Of course you are entitled to voice your opinon....but again, perhaps it is time to sell your contracts and let someone else enjoy what you seem to dislike.

That being said, I agree about some CM's parking where they shouldn't; but a call made to member services...along with photos, should help this situation.

As an aside, I find it hilarious when we have a TPV at BLT...and every night during fireworks the same few cars in the employee lot have their security things go off because of the noise. I often wonder....do their owners know this happens each night?

The parking at the hospitality house at OKW is a nightmare situation. We very rarely find spots, and we often have my MIL, who needs accessible parking. There are ALWAYS Disney vans in these coveted spots. Drives me nuts that they built such a huge resort, with so few parking spaces at the Hospitality House.

Here's a thought, try the ignore feature. That way, those of us that want to hear about WDW, the good and the bad, can do so without censoring from the Disboard police. And just maybe the reason that the OP has been having so many negative comments is the fact that Disney is offering a far inferior product these days. We all love Disney or we wouldn't have invested so much money in DVC. However, that doesn't mean we have to sit by and let Disney give us a product that is far less than expected.

Oh the "we must love everything about Disney or else" response.

Another example of DisBoard cheerleading. :cool1:

I would rather hear the truth then "Disney can do no wrong" cheerleading LOL!

OP that would annoy me too! Especially if the resort is full and parking is tight. I'd probably let the CM parking slide if there were lots of free spaces but if those spaces are hard to come by they should park in their designated lot.

Let us know what MS says about the situation.

They tend to park near Bldg 15, too, since that is close to their lot and they have construction going on from time to time.

We have stayed at OKW twice and find the parking at HH a real nightmare. We only tend to need to park there when we check in although one trip was so cold we tended to drive (we were block 51) when we went to Goods to Go. I saw CMs parking in the carparks by the close buildings to HH but didn't realise they had their own lot otherwise I would have been more annoyed!

Something to think about, did these castmembers have disabled tags? If so, ADA Act allows them to park close to their work location.

They were not parked in handicapped parking places and seem to walk without any problems. I was not concerned enough to check for disabled plates.

All three had on Olivia's uniforms so I assumed they were not disabled.

As a highly educated, highly trained retired professional I set very high standards for myself, children and anyone I conducted business with. I expect what I have paid and contracted for to be fulfilled. I keep my word and expect others who do business with me to do the same. As a DVC member for 20+ years I have seen a decline in DVC's attempt at customer service and fulfilling the contractual agreements they agreed to in the public offering.

What do you call it when two of the housekeeping staff REFUSE to service your room as per the membership guidelines, housekeeping supervisor and front desk supervisor. I expect what I pay for! DVC Member Services agreed that the housekeeping I received at Aulani was substandard. As a relatively new resort, I do expect some growing pains.

I do not believe in Disney "Magic" or "pixie-dust".

I live full-time in my timeshares and over the last 21 months I've had a lifetime of experience (compared to normal timeshare owner) with about 15 different timeshare companies. I am sadden to see DVC continue a slow slide into mediocrity. It was SO much more. With that said, DVC is still a good place to stay and own, but just not the quality it was during the first 5-7 years that I own it. Not unlike many successful companies that grow quickly and lose their focus on the core mission that made them successful. There still good companies, but the quality has suffered.

"Nothing seems to live up to your expectations" , not true... Fiesta Americana Vacation Club (Los Cabos MX) and Club Intrawest (Sandestin FL, Blue Mountain Canada, Zihuatanejo MX) both have been fantastic ownership/vacation experiences!! FAVC philosophy is for their staff to anticipate your every need and fulfill it before you realize there is something you need. Service there is truly without equal. At Club Intrawest the manager's main focus is member satisfaction, especially Amy at their Sandestin location. The best resort manager anywhere!

I have no idea what your experience has been with the timeshare/travel industry, but if you feel that DVC is a leader in customer service, I politely suggest you try other timeshares/companies to get a good comparison.

I make comments to Member Services about every 2nd or 3rd stay. My complaints run about 55% and my complements to their staff run about 45%. Overall, not a bad mix.

The light rain shower is over. Time to hit the beach in St Thomas - Wyndham's Elysian Resort. :woohoo: Back to DVC at SSR March 10-22. :yay: I really love retirement - having the time of our lives :cloud9:

I have never exerienced CMs abusing parking around DVC . However I have not stayed at OKW.
The DVC vans are used to transport prosective buyers and to advertise DVC.So it makes sense to me that they be parked in high visibilty areas.

If you saw three Olivias CMS taking up guests spots and you were so offended you should have complained to Olivia"s, the resort and DVC.

I hope you enjoy living in your Timeshares and enjoy you retirment but please do not think that being "highly educted" means you are more intelligent or entitled to comlain more than anyone else.

I teach my children that their opinion is no more or no less important than anyone else.Regardless of how framed pieces of paper a person may have on a wall.

We experienced the same parking issues (among other things) at OKW this past December. I called the front desk to ask to speak to a manager and was quite rudely told that they would have to page one and they would call me back. We never received a call back nor did we have a message left for us. Once I was home, I sent an email about that problem and others that we encountered at the resort.

After 2 weeks of no response, I sent the same email again and within 2 hours of sending it someone called me. I was in a meeting and could not answer, but as soon as I left the meeting, I called back and left a message. They never called me back and I tried calling again--no answer, so I left another message. After another week, I sent the SAME email again and the same CM finally called me back. Anyway, after playing phone tag, I spoke with someone and he offered a $100 credit on my CC account. He said that since I rented points (I am a DVC member), there was nothing else they could do. He said that the owner of the points would need to file the complaint--totally understandable.

Due to our issues at OKW, we will not stay there again. I'm truly sad about that too, because OKW used to be our favorite resort.
