It's The "Little Things" - Status Update?

It's always the "little things" that are most special and matter most for me when visiting Walt Disney World. Whether walking through the parks or an attraction, downtown or the resorts. If lights are all burnt out, something is broken or non-operational/falling apart and not maintained, it puts a little dent into the magic. Occurrences that seem more prevalent now than in years past.

So please share, your personal status updates observances for around the resort. What is the current state of many of the little details throughout WDW that maybe the average person would not notice or care about, but many of us have been noticing?

Are weeds overtaking the Grand Floridian Parking lot?

Are lights and lamp posts burnt out during your evening walks?

Is Dumbo still flying inside the Storybook Circus Play Area?

Are the water effects and animatronics in Splash Mountain all working as they should?

Is the water still flowing through Rapunzel's themed area at MK?

Do the rooms at your favorite resort look banged up? Lights burnt out? Torn Carpets?

Notice paint chipping and damage to your favorite statues, decor or icons?

Are some of your favorite water features broken with no repairs in sight?(Disney making it a new flower pot doe snot count as a repair)

So, I don't mind people complaining. I honestly don't. I'm a complainer, I do it all the time. But I dislike it when people use confirmation bias to question the reader. It's lying, and it's the worst kind of lie, it makes the reader think that it was their idea.

It is the trend on the DIS lately.

I think constructive criticism is good but it seems some people are going out of their way to post about the negative. Even when you see a positive thread come out, the list of "usual suspects" will soon be right behind trying to tear it down.

I am not saying that every thread has to be "magical" but I wish we could give the negativity a rest for a while.

Fwiw, I was pleased that everything seemed to be in fine working order on my visit in late September.

I think this is missing the point. If maintenance in the resort has gone downhill, that is showing something less than "total" attention to detail. Paying attention to the details is exactly what is leading so many people to complain. It's only if you overlook the details that you can think the whole operation is looking great.

As for fantastic cast members, even the podcast crew would take issue with that assumption. It has been widely noted that the overall quality of cast member performance and guest interactions has gone down, so focusing on cast members is also likely to lead to complaints.

I find it so strange that so many people on these boards respond to the comment "At Walt Disney World I do not like X, Y, and Z" by saying "Why not focus on all the good stuff, like X, Y, and Z?" Two ships passing in the night.

I think the real message is: "I feel bad when you say bad things about things I like, so stop saying those bad things."

I visited Disney 3 times in the past year, staying on site at Wilderness Lodge each time.

I can't recall any overt issues and I am the type of person who notices. DH always tells me to go with the flow because it is vacation.

I actually think the OP was a tongue in cheek thing about what people have been complaining about. Like weeds in the Grand Floridian parking lot. Something that shouldn't put a damper on a Disney World vacation for 99.9% of guests but someone else thought it did. I think the intent for the thread was for people to realize others complain about things that don't affect the vast majority of guests. Yes, it is the simple things that make a Disney World vacation. But those "simple things" are different to each and every one of us.

I agree 100%. Personally I am totally sick of all the negativity on the DIS!!!

WOW! Geez, talk about taking this topic out of context and blowing it waaaaaay out of proportion. What's with some of you mouseketeers? Good grief.

I was SIMPLY just creating a topic to discuss the status of some of our favorite details we love around the resort. That is negative? Apparently. My examples above are just some of the details I have come across from those who have visited over the past year. It must be in pretty bad shape then, based on some of the defensive responses here. The point of this was to HOPEFULLY discuss how GREAT everything is looking and working.

I apologize for asking. Where are all you positive people when some of us are positively defending the Polynesian renovations, Magic Bands and FP+?

I didn't notice these things, others on here have mentioned these issues. This wasn't meant as a formal report. Pretty much, was simply asking a status update on what numerous vacationers and visitors have mentioning on here.

Either these things are working/looking great or they are not.

As I mentioned, I was hoping there would be discussion of how great everything is. That was the purpose. An update. No bias. No conformity intended. I guess all the constant negativity has gotten to many of you. Rightfully so.

No issue with valid complaints either. But if you were in court, you would get an "Objection your honor - leading the witness" on the spot.

We got stuck on Winnie the Pooh. It happens. We were actually going through a doorway when it happened so we were the last ones evacuated. They had to get extra maintenance CMs to push our car forward so we could get out. Were we upset? Did we think DW was going downhill? HECK NO! We got to walk out through all the props (Tigger seriously needs some oil), got some cool pictures, bonded with the kids sitting behind us who were Epcot CMs, and we got an anytime/anywhere fastpass. It was awesome lol.
