A coworker brought in fresh sweet corn that she picked out of the field this morning!

Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight? ;) YUM!!!

We have a bunch of fields all around us and I love it when they sell on the side of the road for 12 for $1! Almost that time!

Hey Steve if you have a Foodsaver you can save it in the freezer and it will last for years! ;)

Wow what a great price, we are paying anywhere from $2-$3 a dozen this year. It has been really small but tasty this year!

They sell the corn around here 12 ears for $1 too. Actually its been in for a few weeks around here. I love fresh sweet corn so I've been doing my part to support local farmers, lol.

Yummy, I love fresh corn on the cob. Silver Queen (white kernels) is my absolute favorite. Living in Florida, I get use to having corn just about year round.

Debster, you're from Abington, right? Where are your corn stands? I'm from Whitman and I'm dying for a stand nearby us! I usually go to Lamberts Fruit and just had some delicious corn the other night, but would love a real good stand, you know? Shoot, I can't remember, maybe you're from E. Bridgewater? Either way, would love something nearby.

I'd better not let DH see this thread!! He is originally from CA ( I lived there for 10 years), we now live in the UK. We cannot get nice fresh corn. The supposedly fresh corn that we get is yuk, we have to make do with frozen!! :(

OK!!! I'm going out this morning in search of corn! I thought
it was a bit early but if MN has it-so does Ohio!
Yippeee! I once won a contest eating sweet corn at a sweet
corn festival.

I saw that post title and though "On the steps of main street?"

Anywho...mmm fresh corn with salt and butter.

jillpie--we're in EB, you're right. And, to tell you the truth, I don't know HOW to tell you to get to where we go. It's a little farm stand, on a side stree off Rt27 down in my neck of the woods. I don't know the street name or anything. (I'm simply pathetic, not trying to be evasive). I also know that CN Smith Farm here in town is getting ready to start harvesting too. They are up behind the Y off 106. I will do a drive by this weekend, and get more specifics. :teeth:

I'm going to have to hunt some down in our area too. Sounds really yummy & the kids love to shuck it. Keeps them occupied for a little while.;)

I've always added a teaspooon of sugar to the water as the corns boiling. My aunt told me many years ago it brings out the natural sugar in the corn. Never tried it without.

Does anyone else add sugar?

ok, thanks Deb! Ya, I know the CN Smith farm, but thats just too darn far (like 15 minutes from my house ;) ), not worth the drive...wait a minute, did I just say that? There is an awesome farm on Rt. 104, forget the name, have you tried their corn? omg. Have a good one Deb, and happy eatin.

You gutys are getting me sooo hungey! Looks like I'll be stopping @ the supermarket for some on the way home..hot buttered corn, YYYYUUUUMMMMM!!!!!!

OK you guys are making me very jealous :( :( Do you have any idea how long it's been since I had fresh corn??????? I can't even remember when. I'm hoping that when we go to Ohio in Sept. that there'll be corn still being harvested and I can pig out.

Hi Jillpie  I'm originally from Whitman. Have you lived there long? I know that we used to get our corn from a farm stand on Harvard Street. You cross Rte. 14 (Auburn St.) and keep going past St. James Cemetary about 1/2 mile. The stand was on the right hand side. It was there for years and years. The last time I got corn there was at least 7 years ago, so they may not be there anymore. But you can check it out anyway.

We just had sweet corn Saturday night! However, our kitchen is currently all torn up so we don't have a stove! Maybe it's all in my head, but it's not the same if you're not eating it in a kitchen that's all steamed up from the boiling water!

If your looking for great corn in MN, stop at the little farm on 169 and 93rd!

manchurian - where do you live? That stand is right on my way home?

You could grill your corn! I love it on the grill - yum :)
