Country Rock?

The only one rockin tonight was Josh. I was looking forward to some really upbeat country and was very disappointed.

Thought Kimberly Locke did well tonight.

My favorite is Clay but can he do something upbeat? A true American Idol will shine no matter what style of song they sing.

I'm voting for Clay again as usual of course! I only got through 9 times so far though grrr. I also thought Kim L did really good tonight as well as Ruben. I don't think anyone else was really that great. I really hope Corey goes soon because it is just painful to listen to him sing, he is not good at all. I have no idea how he made it to the top 10. I also think Julia and Kim C should get voted off soon.

Josh - He is a country boy! I thought he was a star tonight!

Trenyce - Ouch! I usually like her, but she did have lots of pitch problems tonight. I hope they keep her around for another week if they base her on her past performances. She's usually in my top 4.

Kimberley L. - FANTASTIC! She was at one of her best tonight.

Corey - For him, I thought it was pretty good. I'm not a fan of such a high male voice, but he did pretty well tonight.

Ricky - Great voice. He seems like such a great guy too. I don't know though, I don't "feel the magic" with him.

Kimberly C. - Good job. I don't think she has a spectacular voice, but she has great stage presence and she worked the song pretty well.

Carmen - Sorry all. I don't get it with her. Her voice could do a country song but I just didn't buy it tonight. She seems sweet, but I won't be sad to see her go soon.

Ruben - Great performance. I prefer him singing soft ballads, but he did Sweet Home Alabama very well.

Julia - Poor girl. This was the best she has done over the 3 weeks of finals. That said, she just doesn't have the strength of many of the others.

Clay - TERRIFIC. Admittedly, it wasn't his best performance, but he is VERY consistent. He's still my man!!

Good night overall. The talent gets better and better. Oh yes, did I mention I love Clay??????

I'm with CJK. Rickey surprised me tonight, I've always liked his voice, but tonight, I though he was really really good. Ok, not Reuben or Clay good, but top three!!! Kimberly Locke was great, too.

I'm still torn between Reuben and Clay, but was I the only one that thought Clay had a strange expression on his face? (I tape and watch later, so I can play again...)

CLAY CLAY ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has the purest male voice on the show. As far as females I like Kim L.

Josh is our #1. Has been since the auditions. My 15 yo dd is totally in love with him! He could get up there and sing the alphabet song and she'd still vote for him!

That said, we also love Clay and Ruben.
It was good to hear Ruben do something more upbeat. I wish Clay would try it.
Trenyce was so bad tonight I felt sorry for her. That was a hard song and she was NOT hitting those high notes at all.
Julie was as bad as ever and I'm ready for her to go. Same for Kimberly C.

If I had known how addictive this show would be I never would have started watching!

I thought the Kimberley's definately ruled tonight. I love Kimberly L's voice and her song tonight was absolutely fabulous. Kimberley C isn't my favorite, but she performed well tonight.

I don't really get all the Rueben hype even though I love his voice (I did think his performance shined last week though). Trenyce usually sings so well that tonight was a disappointment - I could tell she was disappointed too. Corey is so incredibly bad IMO - I just don't get why they all keep loving him. He does not articulate his notes or the lyrics very well. I agreed with Simon about Clay's song sounding like last weeks - I kept thinking about the similar lyrics. He looked uncomfortable and his vowel vowel formation/pronuciation of ending consonants thing bothered me again - but I still love him! Ricky, Carmen, Josh, Julia all seemed to follow in pretty much their standard places for me.

Kimberly L. had the best performance, imo. I also thought Corey was MUCH better than he has been in the past, thank goodness! Josh was also very, very good - he is obviously in his element singing country music.

Honestly, all these kids are so talented! Even Julia, who is the least talented of the bunch, is not bad. When Simon calls them "dreadful" or whatever, I just laugh - obviously they aren't "dreadful" or they wouldn't have made it this far!

My picks for the top 3 are still the same though - Kim C., Reuben, Clay.

Corey - I thought he was terrible last night and I was sick of Paula talking about his "high register."

Kimberly C. - I don't like her. Not crazy about her voice, she seems fake to me. I can't exactly put my finger on it but I'm just not a fan of hers.

**Is there anybody else out there getting tired of Paula? Sometimes I really think she is out of it. Maybe I'm just being picky.

My Mom and I were always at odds about this. She loved it and I cringed when it came on!

Liked but didn't LOVE anyone last night.

Clay and Reuben are stil my favorites, but thought both Kimberly's and Corey (surprise) did a good job.

Don't get the Josh hype at all. I just don't like that voice! To each his own I guess.

I loved Josh last night. While Paula is starting to annoy me too, she was right in saying a lot of them were 'pitchy'. But, nerves will do that to ya. Trenyce was okay. I like her but not last night. Reuben is just so, I don't know what it is, but I love to listen to him. Very relaxing. Kimberly L. was good, Kimberly C. I just can't abide. She's very phoney to me. A decent performer, with a good voice,but I just don't care for her. Julia is done. She just can't compete at this level. Ricky was fine but I think his talents are limited. Cory I'm not crazy about. I think his 'upper register' is more like a falsetto. Thougt he was kind of straining last night. That leaves Clay......not his best moment but he is still tied with Josh as my favorite. Simon may be somewhat nasty but I'm starting to agree with most of his assesments.

Kimberly C was OK. She has great stage performance, but didn't care much for her song last night.

OK I am here with my expert opinions.

Josh - I really like him and I honestly thought he would do better in this element. I think the problem for me was the song he choose. It was very difficult but it sounded strange to me without Garth Brooks singing it. Josh did a good job with it but it was not GB.

Trenyce - Painful. I really thought she looked uncomfortable and she seemed to not be very happy with her performance. This was by far her weakest performance IMHO. I think she has a chance of being in the bottom 3 this week but hopefully she will stick around and improve next week.

Kimberly L - WOW! That was fantastic and she is my pick for best performance of the night. I loved her performance!

Corey - I could take it or leave it. He wasn't bad but he wasn't all that great either. I think he was good enough to not be in the bottom 3 but in a few weeks he will be gone because he cannot compete on the same level as several others.

Rickey - I feel that same way about Rickey as about Corey. I could take it or leave it. I didn't like the song choice but he still sang well enough to be safe this week IMHO.

Ruben - This was the first week that I actually liked Ruben's performance. I still can't say I understand why most people think he is that great but last night was good.

Julia - She needs to go because it is getting painful. It may have been her best performance last night but it was still not near good enough. She really over enunciates words and it drives me crazy.

Kimberly C. - I thought she would do better especially since she spent years singing country music in Branson. I didn't like her song choice and I really felt she tried to oversing it but it was OK. I usually like her more than I did last night.

Carmen - I really didn't care for it even though she did better this week than in previous weeks. I think she will be in the bottom 3 tonight.

Clay - I thought he was really good but like others I would have liked to hear something more upbeat. He is still my favorite to win the whole thing.

I thought that the only true example of country rock that we heard last night was Ruben's version of "Sweet Home Alabama".
I thought that he did a good job, and stayed with the genre.

Julia was better last night than she has been so far, but I do wish that they'd put her out of her misery already.

Carmen did much better but still is not able to compete with most of the others.

Corey just drives me batty. He didn't annoy me as much as usual last night, but I wish he'd just go away (and then maybe Paula could stop drooling everytime he walks onstage).

Kimberly Locke was amazing. I thought that it was her best performance by far.

Unpopular opinion, I know, but I wasn't crazy about Josh's performance. He seemed to have alot of trouble hitting the notes last night. Did enjoy the energy though!

Kim C. did a good job, but I didn't like the outfit. Rickey and Clay both sounded great, but didn't move me with last night's performances.

Trenyce seemed off last night.

I didn't like Josh's singing much, either. And what was with all that head-bobbing he did? I admit, though, I hate country music.

The only 2 I liked a lot were Kim L. (although I still think she lacks the charisma to be the American Idol) and Ruben. He is just so much fun, and I love, love, love his voice. He's my favorite to win.

Kim C., Julia and Corey make my skin crawl. Blech! And they all have such limited vocal range.

Clay was totally boring tonight. I'm getting sick of all the treacly ballads he's singing. He needs to show some versatility, AND he needs to stop over-enunciating things (esp. his "R's").

Trenyce was really off tonight. I still think she's got lots of talent, but she had all kinds of pitch problems, and she messed up the words. I don't think she was pleased with her performance.
