Just got back from a trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond with oldest DS, to get all his dorm stuff for college.

Where did the time go? I told him that the shopping center where this store is located used to have the only Toys R Us in our area, and I can remember driving out to that store with him as a toddler, when they first opened it. Seems like yesterday!

I'm really excited for him to start this new chapter in his life, but I'm also sad for me, as I am really, really going to miss him!

So, who else is doing the countdown to college?

{{hugs}} Bet!!

My little brother (13 yrs younger than me) will graduate in 2 years - that will be hard for me to realize - where did the time go. He just bought a car so he will be driving alone soon, 22 days by his watch. :D

Can't say I'm counting down to college, but Seth will start kindergarten in a few weeks. I DON'T WANT HIM TO GO!!!!!!
On Aug 3, 1986 we brought him home from the hospital. I can remember what I told my wife as we walked into the hospital. We are going in here as 2 people, but when we come out we will be 3.

I feel for you. Although I am excited for him, and all the new things he will encounter, like new friends, sleep overs, sports, and later on the prom, and graduation. I really want to keep him little.

I can remember when he was a baby, and all we wanted was a full nights sleep. Now I wish I was getting up all hours of the night. Guess we are never satisfied are we?

Hi,

My dd will be a freshman at the same college her brother will be a senior at this fall!

This is so wierd, dd has the same single dorm room as her brother did his freshman year! Out of all the hundreds and hundreds of rooms, and the switching of boy/girls wings each year, they end up in the same room, lol.

I am just so happy my kids have the opportunities to learn and grow at a great college. It will be a whopper of an expensive year for us, tho!

Herc.

I'll drive my oldest DD to college in Texas in just under 4 weeks, and she won't be back until Christmas break. :( The time really does go by so quickly. I feel as though I've looked at every compact refrigerator that's sold in my town, and thank goodness I settled on one! I think almost all the dorm necessities have been purchased, but DD wants one more shopping trip for clothes.

Good luck to Seth on his first day of kindergarten! And good luck to your DD's, herc & Nancy!

Nancy, I'm sure the shopping is a lot more involved with girls. I had lots of things on the list today, and Matt kept saying "Nah, I don't need that, I'll never use that".

No more college countdown, my ds finally finished graduate school last May :)

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie it isn't as sad as it seems, really it isn't, just wait -your son will be bringing home his dirty laundry on a regular basis :teeth:

{{{HUGS}}}

I am not sending a son or daughter off to college, but I know how you feel. That is exactly how I felt when DS moved out of the house into his own apartment.

It will be hard to get used to it, but we are here for you anytime. :D

I dread that day. DS has 3 more years. I try to treasure all the "moments" that I can.
Time does go fast, I don't envy you right now.

Seth will start kindergarten in a few weeks. I DON'T WANT HIM TO GO!!!!!! On Aug 3, 1986 we brought him home from the hospital.

He's gonna be the most popular kid in his K class when they all find out he's old enough to drive! :earseek:

Not sending any children off to college yet, my oldest is 10 yrs. old.

My neighbor is sending her DS off to UCF (I think). I asked her how she was handling it and she told me that she lost it at Walmart when she was buying laundry detergent with her DS. :( It's tough being a mom.

{{{hugs}}} to you.:D

Hugs, Bet! I can't even imagine the emotions you must be having, but just be glad that Matt is going to college. :) Its got to be better than having a kid who has no intention of going to college or going to work, but every intention of hanging around your house for the next 10 years or so, heh heh.

Thinking of you, sweetie. Hope the transition is as easy as can be.

I know how you feel Bet. It wasnt that long ago when Steph was going away for the first time. I still have a hard time with her going back even though shes a Jr. now. Her school starts in about 3 weeks.

I'm not bet....thank goodness I have about 6 more years before we hit that loop...but I just wanted to give you a giant....
