Lets start at the begining. We have been in this manufactured home for 12 years, bought it new, it sits on 7 acres. We love it.
Three years into being here, we found a huge problem with the roof, it had been leaking and caused alot of damage in a closet. Hadn't noticed it cause really how many of us can find the floor in our closets anyway. This was 2 years AFTER the warranty on the house had expired. Skyline owned up to the problem and fixed it and all the damage OUTSIDE of the warranty period, their contractor told us at the time that either the house hadn't been "married" correctly or that it was a design flaw with the way the roofs came together on the three pieces but that it was fixed. Fast forward to the recent last few weeks, noticed a "water" stain on the ceiling in the dining room...oh crap...found mold again in the bedroom closet...oh great....went on roof and saw the problem...water sitting in a "valley" with no place to go. Can't tarp it because its just wouldn't help....yesturday it really rained here in Oregon (like thats a first) and my ceiling was POURING water....
Contractor came out today went up on the roof and said that it was beyond him that he had "never seen anything like it in all his years of working" he said definatly a "design flaw" with the way the roof is made that the water has NO where to go. Agreed that with the two slopes ending in a flat spot that tarping wouldn't stop it because the water would run under the tarp. Also said that it was about to cave through in the two places where we've got interior damage and that it would have taken this long for the damage to become evident to us. I don't know what to do. He said that its not the shingles but the manufactor for building it this way. He also said that there is probably mold growing up in the ceiling as well. This would probably explain DD severe asthma wouldn't you think? Shouldn't Skyline be responsible for their faulty "product"??? HELP!!!! I'd cry but don't need any extra water in the house!!
Shouldn't my homeowners policy at least fix the damage CAUSED by the water..I know it won't cover the roof but it seems like it should cover the interior.....as for the roof.......I don't even have any trees close enough to cut down (and thats a JOKE!!!)
