The last day at sea was what you dreamed of; warm temps, blue skies, and calm seas. My husband and I took advantage of the adult pool area and the kids once again enjoyed the camps. Both my DD6 and DS10 absolutely loved the activities, meeting new friends, and the counselors. We would go to the camps and ask them if they wanted to come out and usually they said no. I do wish they would have had more activities with individual characters like the Goofy PJ Party for the 5-7 group. My guess is that these activities attract almost too many kids to handle so maybe they have to limit the number of these activities. DD6 loved the club and enjoyed many programs and activities. DD10 enjoyed checking himself in and out of camp and did very well with this. The 10-12 group has this option automatically. If you do not want to have them check out by themself, you can put this restriction on their card/file but then they cannot check in by themself. Often he would finish his dinner before us and would leave and go to the camp before the show so we removed the restriction so he could do this. I was nervous at first but he did great. When he checked out he generally knew where we were or where the parents/kids were that we were travelling with. He often was with his friend. He knew to go to the room if he could not find us. By the middle of the week he was a real pro and we were very comfortable with it.
Castaway Cay was as beautiful as I remembered. The day was fantastic. We left the beach by 3:15 as we had to get back for the children's farewell rehersal and show. It was really cute and something DD6 will always remember.
The Until We Meet Again show at 10:15 the last night is so special and quite a sight. Many of the characters from the shows come to the atrium lobby and there is singing, posing for pictures and pixie dust. I actually woke my daughter up for this and my husband thought I was crazy at first. But after we went he understood why. If it wasn't for these boards I would have let her sleep through it. Thanks for the great advice.
Getting the luggage out by 11:00pm was not fun. Thank goodness I did a lot of packing in the morning. I had emptied most of our suitcases so I had a lot to do. I got them out before the Until We Meet Again Show so I was really able to enjoy myself.
The last morning we went to the dining room right at 6:45 (we had early seating and therefore early breakfast). We returned to our room to get our carry-on luggage and left the ship at around 7:45. A baggage handler found our luggage quickly and took us to the Delta check-in. They set your luggage in an area by check-in so you didn't have to drag it through the line. The kids and I sat on the luggage while my husband stood in line. It took about one hour but our flight was not until 2:00 so we did not care. We still arrived at the airport by 10:00.
Well, I hope some of this info helps you. For all of you on future cruises, ENJOY!! We hope to go again in the future but have no specific plans.
Take care everyone and thanks again for all the great info.
