"Holly from www.**********************.com was officially the first to check into the Polynesian Village DVC this morning. Unfortunately it was somewhat uneventful especially compared to past reports of guests who were the first to check into a new DVC. There also seems to be something scheduled for the media today but nothing for new guests. I few people have contacted me and told me that no one seemed very excited to welcome the new DVC guests and they were surprised how low key everything was.
The pool is delayed in its opening, the beach is full of pool furniture and construction continues right outside the balconies of the new DVC rooms. Maybe something will happen later but guests have not been told that anything will.
Holly got some photos of the laundry room in Moorea and confirmed that there is no laundry in the other DVC longhouse."

Maybe they shouldn't have rushed for the April 1 date. What types of issues? I agree on the bathroom door lock. I don't if I would consider it major, but I'm in healthcare and that doesn't freak me out.It was a serious let down when we arrived. And the magic bands didnt work to open the door. Took all day to get it fixed.
And while the room is beautiful, I have about 20pics to send to member satisfaction to show the shoddy work done in the room. And there are no locks on the bathroom doors. Major fail IMO.

OK - I'm surprised that DVC would let that happen again after the BLT bathroom no lock fiasco. Guess that everyone who worked for them then is gone or has a very short memory.
Shoddy workmanship really showed up in the VWL renovation - I hope it wasn't the same construction crews for Poly. And I hope they'll start holding the contractors up to certain standards whenever work is done at any resort.
My bathroom door last night has locks. They are just on the opposite side from where you would expect them. I didn't think they had locks either. My daughter found them as I was getting ready for my wedding.
The doors could easily have the pocket door locks imstalled on them. They arent pocket doors but slide closed in a similar fashion. They are sliding panel doors. Amd thank you for validating that Im not nuts, that this was already an issue at BLT.
In the pic, see the sliding door that you can see the blue in the crack? That is the shower room.
The paint job looks like they rushed through, there are roller marks on every ceiling and painted wall, not painted to the edge or free handed so it is really sloppy, there is grout all over the bathroom floors and shower, blue paint on the shower tiles in the shower room, the shower room fan would not turn off the entire time, the light over the shower room sink was burnt out, the microwave let off a horrific burning smell when we used it..we had to open the slider to get the room aired out, there are marks and gouges on multiple walls, the tile work doesnt line up and is sticking out, there is a scrape mark on the bed, there are black scrape marks in the tub, etc.
I'm in construction and not sure how they are going to have the contractor fix these issues after people already started renting the rooms? Punchlist items (like the ones listed above) should have been done before occupancy.
This is CRAZY.....not sure who is doing the punchlist, but they need fired if they missed these many items. I've been picked apart for warehouse offices worse than this----I would have expected better workmanship for a Disney flagship resort.
Don't know if the Poly is a flagship resort, according to Disney that title belongs to the GF.
Maybe they are building the DVC resorts on the cheap. Once built, the DVC owners get stuck with the bill.
Bill
Maybe not 'the' flagship resort, but one of the big 3 when you think about Disney. Regardless, that is horrible workmanship that would not pass a local architect, let alone Disney. I would be PO'd if I found out punchlist items were winding up on the upkeep/maintenance accounts.
