As we are going to HH for T-giving next week, we were trying to figure out how to fit in a quick weekend trip to Branson to enjoy the final season of the Rockettes 10-year run there.

Although we tend to save Big Cedar for summer stays, we have been known to "settle" for a Residence Inn while there in the winter. When I called to make the ressies, the Residence Inn was booked solid. So was our Holiday Inn Express standby. So we opted for another chain hotel that was built within the past year or so.

We're driving up the strip to the hotel that first night and DD (8) says, "Boy, I sure don't like those hotels where you have to walk outside to your room--too cold!" (Translation: Motel). We pull into the parking lot and sure enough it was one of THOSE! We get out of the car and DD (5) says, "Did you get a 2 bedroom?"

Then we get to our room, turn the lock, push the door open and.......... the room is SLANTED!!! Everything slanted to the left and down. NO JOKE!!! You actually felt yourself walking down from one side of the room to the other. DH seemed more bothered by that "feeling" than cruising on the ocean with Disney last May! (not that I blame him). He actually rolled up his pillow to get his head a little bit higher than his feet!::yes::

So..... to make a long story short

We are HOTEL SNOBS! Thanks DVC! Luv ya!:wave2:

Laura, I understand! A few weeks ago we were in Charleston, SC for several days. I can name two really nice hotels to stay at - Holiday Inn at Meeting & Calhoun Streets & the Courtyard by Marriott near the marina - & one hotel to definitely stay away from - the Francis Marion. Another family stayed with us at each hotel. We agreed that we were used to (maybe spoiled :) )resorts with excellent service & amenities (they are non-Disney timeshare owners).

DH calls me a "Disney Snob". It is awfully hard to get first class accomodations anywhere else when you are used to Disney!!

Count us in as resort snobs. With DVC since 1997, another timeshare (Branson) since 1999, and Big Cedar since 2001 we always stay in one and two bedroom accomodations. Can't stand a regular hotel room while on vacation. I like to get up early with coffee (DW doesn't do the coffee thing) and it is really hard to sit in the dark in a motel room drinking coffee trying to be quiet so I won't wake up the family. My biggest concern is DD (18) and DS (15). I'm afraid we have ruined them for life always requiring resort suites. I do have enough points in all three that DD and DS will have great vacations for thier life with us or by themselves.

We also qualify. We stayed at Portafino Bay Hotel at Universal last year for two days inbetween Vero and Beach Club Villas on the weekend. If you've ever seen this hotel it is beautiful. The rooms are beautiful. But it's not Disney.

Anyway, the kids walk in, ages 8, 8 and 10 and one says, "Where's the kitchen?" Another tried to open the door adjoining the next hotel room figuring it was her room. They couldn't imagine that it was just one room for all of us!!! Oh well.
