IT'S OFFICIAL!!!****OCTOBER 2014****...ROLL CALL!! Join the party!

Woot woot!! Yay for settling on dates!!

I have to fly there, so I am NOT so patiently waiting for the flight schedules to be released for next October. Not to mention park hours, EMH,etc haha

So excited to be put on "The List!" :thumbsup2

Me too! Touched that the OP put in that I am getting married too :) Just to clarify, not getting married at Disney, but heading there about 3 days after the wedding for our honeymoon :)

My Mom is in Florida and was asking if I wanted anything from DTD. I said we decided to go there for our honeymoon and she said oh that will be awesome! They have the bride and groom mickey ears! and I said we would probably buy them..so I suspect there may be a set in my wedding gift :)

I am right there with ya!

I REALLY WANT TO JOIN THIS ROLL CALL...WE are just so undecided about getting the kids out of school.

That was something I struggled with too. Then I decided to just go for it, he will be in 8th grade and I don't want to take him out once he gets to high school.

Also I want to go for his birthday, he'll be turning 13. He is not into thrill rides at all so I know he will still be into Disney lol

So, it looks like SIL and sig other have become jealous of our annual DW vacation; they are hoping to join us for our Oct/Nov 2014 trip. I've only ever planned for two adults; WL or AKL every time. Anyone have a recommendation for where two adult couples can stay? Is a suite better than two rooms? I'm not a member nor have I ever used DVC. Are there better options there? Thanks! :thumbsup2

How many actual school days would your children miss, how old are they, and how do they do generally at school? I think those are the questions to consider when determining if this is the best choice for your family.

We went to Florida for 3 weeks in October when I was 8 (Gr.4) and my brother was almost 6 (Gr.1). It really didn't affect our education in the least. We were basically only a month into the school year when we went on vacation, and we really didn't miss anything that we couldn't catch up quickly.

Personally, I think that a vacation where family spends quality time together creating memories far outweighs the benefit of a couple of weeks in a classroom, unless your child really cannot afford the disruption in schedule for two weeks.

You could talk to their teachers and ask if it would be an appropriate time, if the teachers have any concerns about your child's ability to handle a couple of weeks away, and if they have any assignments they can send along for the child to complete, depending on their age. Frankly, if your child is in first or second grade, is literate and has basic math skills for their level, then there is no reason they should fall behind for the sake of a vacation. As I said, every family is different, but this might help you in making your decision :)

I am currently planning my third trip to WDW! My mom has always planned our trips before and now its my turn!! It will be my husbands first Disney vacation and I am SOOO excited to get to introduce him to the Magical world of Walt Disney!!! :woohoo: We have set dates for September 8th through the 15th! I stayed at Pop several years ago and just fell in love. That's where we will be staying in September!! CAN NOT WAIT!! Hoping to get the free dining plan! Does anyone know how the weather is in September? and the crowds??

So excited for our 2nd trip to Disney, Our first went so smooth we jumped at the buy back offer!:yay: , staying 09/28-10/05

We stayed this year 9/28-10/05 and It was as magically smooth as I could have dreamed, no crowds longest lines were 15 minutes, restaraunts were not very packed. It was my first trip and I cant wait to go back we also stayed at POP and it was great were trying Caribbean beach next year.

we took my 8 year old son out for 1 week to celebrate turning 9, his teachers were very helpful and it was a few weeks in where he had been accustomed to the classroom so I knew he wouldn t be completely out of the loop once we returned. it has taken him about 1 week to catch up and complete any missed work or tests. I think it was worth it and heck were doing it again next year lol

So excited :cool1: and here's the perfect place to share!

DH and I just booked a really special trip. It will be our last full-family trip before my oldest heads off to college! In addition, we're celebrating all of the big things from 2014 - Chase's 18th birthday, his upcoming HS graduation, DH and I are both turning 40 and we're celebrating our 20th anniversary just before the trip. So we went big (at least big for us...).

We just booked a 2 week stay, coming in from Oregon on 10/18 and staying at the ASM Family Suite for one week. Then we'll spend a week at a family member's timeshare, the Marriott Grande Vista. We've got 10 day WDW passes, will hit a Disney waterpark one day and I know we'll spend a day at Universal to see Harry Potter. Other than that... we don't know. We'll plan whatever seems fun. So excited to finally have it booked and can't wait to get it paid off!

Planning to do a Mother/Daughter trip Oct 7-11 2014. Just under a year. I am going on a Mother/Son trip in 4 days so have something to be excited with now and in the future. Not sure where we are staying yet but will be DVC. We'll have to see where we can get into. Hoping GF or BLT or AKL in that order or the old stand by OKW.

Hi everyone, still here!:)

I will be back to update the list soon and welcome to all the new people! :dance3:

Awesome! Please add me to the list we are planning on going Oct. 16-Nov.2, although are dates may change. We are definitely going in October for Halloween just haven't decided if we want to be there the week before and during halloween or the week of halloween and then a week in november. When do they decorate for Christmas? We have never been in October so looking forward to it! Any suggestions on dates from people who have been in October before?! SO EXCITED!!
