It's Official...IT'S PALIN

Birth control that will all become illegal under a McCain-Palin Woman Hatin' Presidency, because they are considered "abortifacients."

And hospitals in Latin America are refusing to treat women WHO ARE MISCARRYING!

DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD!

Will they outlaw tin foil too?

While I think Palin is an interesting and historic choice, I find the discussion on this board is focusing on 1 narrow issue of pro-choice/anti-abortion. Our current President certainly has strong views on this position, but what impact has this one issue had on our lives in the last 8 years? Not much. What has impacted us is the ongoing war for WMD in Iraq (with McCains full and ongoing support). The diversion of our troops from actually focusing on al queda, Bin Laden and other terrorists activity to the extent needed.

Bush and his staff is obviously out of touch with the realities of the Economy as our current tailspin is proof and McCain with his lack of knowledge of his own personal economy with the number of houses he owns is not a solution. The next president will have a huge deficit to inherit and clean up and it will not be an easy task. I, for one, want someone in the office who knows what it is like to grow up poor, make sacrifices, pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, and was not handed everything to him and did not marry into an incredibly wealthy family.

Abraham Lincoln had less experience than Obama when he was elected. Proof that leadership ability and common sense can trump experience.

THAT'S who everybody's been talking about?? I thought it was MICHAEL PALIN. Ya know, Monty Python? Shoot, I almost would've voted for it that was his pick.

And if Lincoln hadn't been martyred on Good Friday 1865 he may have gone down as one of the worst Presidents in U.S. History. His approval ratings weren't all that great either.

But nobody else has as much say (or influence) as to which bills get passed, introduced, etc...
I know that he can't pass them alone, but he has more influence than any other individual in this country. If that weren't the case than why would anyone care about Bush's or Clinton's, etc... stance on abortion? My point being, that whoever is President is going to have to know where they stand on abortion, and not just say "it's above my pay grade"

Dang your lost.

The president doesn't pass bills PERIOD. He signs them into law if/when Congress passes them.

People care about the Presidents stance on abortion etc. becuse it's the President who selects Supreme Court nominees.

Au contraire, mon fraire.

BO can not even think about uttering the word experience.

Well, he can think about it. The Bush administration hasn't employed telepathy yet. Just wire-tapping, video surveillance, and the sale of your civil liberties to telecommunication companies.

Down Syndrome testing is NOT about options of keeping or aborting - it is about education and preparedness - as are most of the tests done during pregnancy

I am pro-life - however - I believe that in the cases of RAPE or INCEST then it SHOULD be an option - other than that God's will and all (I am a woman who suffered multiple miscarriages at varying stages - all for unknown reasons)

I do not normally include myself on these types of threads ( I do however, LOVE LOVE LOVE to read them) - debates - politics, religion - I am thrilled with McCain's choice - I have enjoyed reading about her and finding out about how she got here!!

I have no need to worry myself over something I can't do anything about until my child is born. Sarah Palin found out ahead of time and people want to canonize her because she chose to continue the pregnancy and not terminate it. Big deal, I say.

Stay off the left wing loon web sites with putrid drivel like that. The money the citizens get from Alaska oil is not "windfall profits" it is royalties and it has been done for decades. They get the check wethere there is a huge profit or a little profit on the oil for that year.

This is a funny day! I have not seen the Obamabots is such a hissy fit since the Brittany Spears add....btw the way, the guy that designed the "greek temple" also does Britany Spears shows. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!

You really haven't looked at her record have you...

Windfall tax lets Alaska rake in billions from Big Oil

While Congress and the presidential candidates debate the wisdom of a windfall tax on oil companies, Alaska has already imposed one, hauling in billions of dollars in new revenue for the state treasury. Republican Gov. Sarah Palin pushed for the windfall tax over oil-company opposition.

Most of Alaska's oil production comes from land owned by the state — and leased to the oil companies that look for and extract the crude. But some of the most significant undeveloped resources are in areas owned by the federal government, such as the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge and federal waters in the outer continental shelf. Revenue from oil production there would go mostly to the U.S. Treasury, but the state could claim a small part of it, according to state Department of Revenue officials.

The tax is imposed on the net profit earned on each barrel of oil pumped from state lands, after deducting costs for production and transportation.
The tax is set at its highest rate in Prudhoe Bay, where the state takes 25 percent of the net profit of a barrel when its price is at or below $52.
The percentage then escalates as oil prices rise over that benchmark.

Republicans in Congress this June united to defeat a proposed windfall tax on oil companies, deriding it as a bad idea that would discourage investment in U.S. oil exploration.

Things worked out far differently in the GOP stronghold of Alaska, a state whose economic fate is closely tied to the oil industry.

Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry — a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.

At a time when Americans are feeling the pinch at the gasoline pump and oil companies are racking up record profits, Alaska's choice foreshadows one of the sharpest debates in the upcoming presidential election.

Democrat Barack Obama supports a national windfall-profits tax, while Republican John McCain opposes it.

Keep it up SeeVee, you just might end up convincing yourself you've got a real powerhouse that adheres to Conservative economic principles yet!! :rotfl:

:worship: Amen!

Yeah, the whole "Emancipation Proclamation" thing really hurt him in the swing states.

Good thing for Obama and the people who support him that front page headlines aren't what we care about. We're thinking 5, 10 and 20 years into the future. Headlines don't make a country come back from financial ruin. Plans for the future that involve everyone working together as Americans do.

With this choice of a young mother of five who's only experience as a leader has been a one-term token woman governer of a cash-rich, low-population state, an Obama/Biden Administration is in the bag now.

A grateful country thanks you, John! :cheer2:

Maybe some but I think the typical America voter has a political attention span of about 6 months. Tops.

Oh, that's right, you've got me on ignore because I'm a closet (part way out) racist. Please disregard.

Interesting choice, McCain's definitely going for the Hillary voters.

Well, I am a Hillary voter/supporter and if McCain was hoping to get my vote with his choice of Palin, he is definitely NOT getting it now ... I just listened to Palin's speech on TV and she did not impress me at all ...

You really haven't looked at her record have you...

Keep it up SeeVee, you just might end up convincing yourself you've got a real powerhouse that adheres to Conservative economic principles yet!! :rotfl:

Well, you can't blame SeeVee. The vast majority of the conservatives hadn't heard of Gov. Palin before they woke up this morning. They need time to read up on all their talking points.

How petty! I can write pages on why I will vote the way I do. Everyone has a platform that is close to their heart and identify with. I have a business that works with disabled persons. I just happen to have a soft spot for Down's babies. I know the everyday struggles that people with disabilities face. She will be a champion on that issue. I am pro-life all the way. I don't believe in abortion or the death penalty.

Hey, hang on...not being petty here. Just trying to see what is going on with how people are voting. I'm glad it is close to your heart. What I need to know is that IF her youngest was not a downs syndrome child would she still be a "champion" for that issue?
I, too, can write pages on while I will vote the way I do, but no one here really listens to anything. We all have our own views and you can't change mine, and I can't change yours.
Thank God this is a free country and we choose who to vote for based on what we know.
BTW, if you took my post as a slam against people with disabilites I apologize.
We have family members with disabilities as well, and my post was not meant that way.

Well, I am a Hillary voter/supporter and if McCain was hoping to get my vote with his choice of Palin, he is definitely NOT getting it now ... I just listened to Palin's speech on TV and she did not impress me at all ...

I hardly think McCain can just pluck any woman Republican out of obscurity and expect all Hillary supporters to think he's their man.

Abraham Lincoln had less experience than Obama when he was elected. Proof that leadership ability and common sense can trump experience.

Abraham Lincoln? John McCain KNEW Abraham Lincoln. And BO is no Abe Lincoln...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

The logical leap for many is that all women who are pro-choice would automatically terminate, I most wholeheartedly assure you this is a lie.

Most prochoice people I know would never choose abortion for themselves. They just think it a decison between a woman and her doctor. No more no less. Many on the right just do not get this MAJOR distinction. And it is a major one.
