It's now cheaper to fly then drive!

whoa...might be nice for Vegas. But can't you fly first class on a 2 hour flight too?

I don't think there is an option anymore here. DH checked a couple years ago when we were going to WDW and no one had it anymore. There was a few business seats but they are nothing like first class. The last time we flew first class to WDW was 12 years ago. It was only a 2 hour flight but still nice.

ah well, too bad. But if they start pricing all 2 hour flights to Orlando as if they're first class so they can offer movies and meals, there goes my frequent trips. Maybe that would encourage me to find something fun to do at home.

You could always drive. We would rather drive to WDW then fly anyway. We make it part of the vacation by adding on the driving days to the days we are going to be at WDW. We fly to WDW in October so as not to miss as much school. In June we drive down making it a 3 week trip! We look forward to driving down more then flying. Costs more then flying but definitely worth it to us.

We are outside of Philly & were considering driving because the air fares were high. You all have given me hope!

We are a family of 5.

If I book my Disney Package first, then keep checking airfare deals, is it difficult to add the Magical Express service?

Also, I have a relative who is a travel agent. Is it better to make my own reservations or use an agent? I know she won't make any money on us (last time she kicked it back in Disney Dollars for the kids), but my question is can I get deals just as good onb my own?

I always do my own reservations. You have to check flights ever day and you have to sign up for SWA dings. You can book your trip, then add your flights. You can call and add ME once you have your flights. You can also book your flights in increments. In other words, if you find a cheap departure flight - book it. Then search for a cheap return flight. I do this all the time on SWA. I already booked my departure flight for $49 on 8/24. It might be another month or two before I find what I want to pay for a return flight.

Also - regarding SWA - I have never had a bad flight with them. Their prices can't be beat. I am flying them nonstop to Denver in 2 weeks and I booked my flights for $144 a person RT!!!!!. Then I applied $120 credit I had from rebooking previous flights with ding fares. WE are flying nonstop from BWI to Denver for $114 a person. Normally it cost a family of 4 $1200 to fly there from the east coast.

Driving by myself isn't fun. Nor is it inexpensive, what with the gas prices hitting the stratosphere.

It takes 13 hours, too. Two hours on a plane, even with the airport waiting time, is highly preferable. If I am going to WDW for the weekend, two days of it would be spent driving, leaving 1 day at WDW which will be spent getting over the exhaustion from driving.

When I booked my air, I did it myself online. I called my travel agent and she said she couldn't give me the same rate on those flights so they were probably an internet special. She said book it then call her with flight details and she'll arrange magical express.

Yeah, I don't mind the cheap SW fares while I can get them. I have 7 people flying from Philly to Orlando in Mid july for a total RT price of $879.25. I don't mind the cattle call and I don't mind no services as long as the plane takes off's and lands in one piece I'm fine with the ultra cheap fares.

And as long as the LAST part of your sentence is done they have fufilled the contract (The most IMPORTANT part LOL!)

It's not cheaper for us to fly. DH only gets to take vacation the weeks of July 4th and Christmas. Even with gas at $3/gal and two overnights, driving still costs less than flying for my family of 4. If we could go anytime, it would be a totally different ballgame...
