It's not just BLT which is showing wear and tear

I have read on this forum a lot of comments about wear and tear at BLT and have seen some signs when I visited the resort.

Currently I am visiting VGC, this is my 5th trip to this resort. I love this resort.

For the first time I have noticed signs of wear and tear at VGC.

The cushions on the sofa bed are starting to split and some of the furniture has chips in the wood.

I guess the point I am making is that this shows that the wear and tear at BLT is not unusual... It happens with all resorts.

They were painting the bridge today and putting in new plants at the waters edge yesterday. Wear and year yes, but they are keeping up with it.

We were at VGC last month and I was very impressed with the high quality of the construction and the furnishings. The carpets are gorgeous. The bedding is that of a high end resort, much better than any other DVC resort I've been to. My thought when we were there was that the quality was so much better than BLT and it was in great shape in comparison (we've stayed at BLT, too.)

I guess it depends on which unit you get but our VGC studio really looked brand new and was in great shape.

We are new to DVC and haven't had a lot of DVC Villa experiences although we have stayed at all the hotels that have DVC units. We were at the VGC last July and I was completely impressed with our 1 Bdrm and didn't see any signs of wear and tear. However that was nearly 7 months ago, so it has been enough time for things things to pop up I am sure. We are going to BLT for the first time in June and are awaiting to see what it is like as we have all read about the wear and tear there. Overall I loved VGC so much that I really would love to own there so day.

Any physical structure that is in use virtually 365 days/year will start to show signs of wear. VGC has been open for about 15 months now so it's probably not realistic to think that every room still looks like new. All it takes is one careless guest to bang up furniture--and hotels / timeshares tend to have a pretty good percentage of folks who aren't on their best behavior.

Having been around through at least 4 DVC resort openings, I have to say the volume of complaints about BLT have been quite a bit louder than any others. We stayed at BLT a couple months ago and our room was in very good condition but apparently that's not the case for all rooms. Here's hoping they can come up with a reasonable long-term solution.

It's been my experience that the resorts at Disneyland, including the Grand Californian, are run very differently than the resorts at WDW. Housekeeping and maintenance in Florida is a joke. In Anaheim, they do a better job. My guess is that the VGC are going to continue to stay in better shape than the ones at WDW. Last summer, we were already noticing stains on the carpets in Kidani as well as furniture being scratched, etc.

I first stayed at BLT Dec 09, and again in Jan 11. My room in Jan 11 was in far better shape than in Dec 09, so maybe they are working to improve some of the issues, or maybe I just got lucky the second time around.

I agree with the other posts, my sister stayed recently at a 1 bedroom and she was very pleased with the resort.
