I noticed all of the Princess Character meals and this Hanna Montanna BBB package or whatever it is. What does Disney have for the boys. This has bothered me for some time now. Its time for them to step up and correct this situation. How about a Star Wars meal or a monsters Inc or Pirates meal?

I hear Disney Management sometimes reads these boards. Its time to step up.

Ewww A Pirates meal ! I'm not a boy but I'd totally do that. Seems like I remember a rumor about a Pirate meal recently. Also they are building that Dinosaur themed restaurant at DTD.

I am kind of tired of people complaining about the "no boys meals" thing. First of all - in answer to your thread title - life's not fair.

Second - Disney is a business. The Princess meals are some of the most expensive on property and are consistantly booked solid so why would Disney not want to continue to offer the same or more of these meals. The crown package at the Bibbiddy Bobbity Boutique costs over $150.00 and judging from the parks plenty of people are booking these too. These are the reasons Disney has "princess" offerings.

Lastly - I can't think of anything that appeals ONLY to boys like, or even to the same extent as the princess do to girls. Girls would love pirates, monsters inc, pixar, toy story, star wars and all th other things that people ask for for boys. Disney hasn't ignored these things there are several pirate cruises at different hotels, there is the jedi training academy and there used to be a pirate tutorial (not sure if its still there). When the families of boys book activities (like the pirate cruise) and buy merchandize about "boy characters" at the same rate as the families of girls book activities and buy merchandize about princesses I bet Disney will add more opportunities.

My daughter would gladly go to a pirate meal, but my boys will not go near a princess meal. It would be fun if the castle alternated princess and pirate meals.

Seeing some more "boy" meals would be nice-- but I don't think it would be limited to boys. So many girls and adults would love to go to a Pirates or a Buzz Lightyear dining experience.. as someone mentioned before, they are building the Dinosaur resturant and I'm sure Disney will do something new since Universal is putting in the Harry Potter World. If you are looking for more boy oriented activities, try the Pirate and Princess Party!

OP - What's the Hannah Montana BBB package? I think I need to find out about that. Daughter's booked for the basic package for our upcoming trip.

I agree!! Boys are not nearly the focus that girls are at the parks right now. My ds would LOVE a meal with Buzz/Woody or the Pirates! Yeah...they have gender neutral meals like Chef Mickey's, CPalace, etc. but something that is really "boyish" would be great!! I'm with you that it is NOT fair and something needs to be done...I don't think anyone is saying to stop the girlie stuff but add some boy stuff too!

I hear you! On our last trip, day 3 while waiting for CP dinner, my nephew (8) was groaning, "I think all these dinners are just for Kaitlyn!" (his 5 yr old sister) When even an 8 year old notices something missing, it is definately a problem!

Having some additional options that truly appeal to boys, while including the girls too (a la Pirates, or whatever) would be really cool. As it is, the princess thing is truly overdone. We have 2 boys who love the character experience, but are honestly T - I - R - E - D of seeing the same basic characters at the NON-princess meals. Honestly, how many times "should" you have a character meal with the fab five or Chip & Dale? Mixing it up a bit more than WDW currently does would be a big boon. Character meals have become the primary means for the character experience - you just don't see them out and about in the parks as much as in the 80's or 90's... and every character meal is booked at like 85-95% capacity because of it. But if they offered something cool FOR THE BOYS, they would only improve upon the experience (and their own bottom line). We go because Disney has made them a "must do" if you really want to be able to be guaranteed to "see" some characters... but it sure would be nice for the autograph books to have some DIFFERENT siggies in there for once.

Our DD is now at the age where princesses are everything. Previously she like Pooh, but now it's all about the princesses - but my boys are 5 and 8 yrs older than she is, and CANNOT STAND the princesses. We forced Cinderella's Feast at 1900 PF last trip - and had a blast with the step-sisters vs. Cindy herself... but the boys were crawling under the table trying to get away whenever the characters came by. But you'd better believe it, if Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Mr. Incredible, Sully, Jafar or some other cool character that is not JUST for the girls came by - they'd be all over those experiences. Stitch is their favorite Disney character - so they've asked to go back to Ohana 2 or 3x this Oct and SKIP anything with the princesses... but we'll force them into a princess one once "for their sister's sake" ... and we'll end up with the fab five.... again, I'm sure.

I don't think the OP was starting a 'fair/not fair' controversy when she posted this & I think its a legit comment/concern and something Disney should think about and I understand Disney is a business, but, how does Disney know how much profit can be brought in, if its not ever/even been tried? In my own opinion, not everything needs to bring in a million dollar profit to be a success & if that's what Disney is looking for, I'm sure there are parents of 'boys' who wouldn't mind dropping the cash!!

I agree with the OP 100%, I think there is plenty Disney could do w/Woody & Buzz, Pirates, Star Wars, etc....

Well I can see it both ways....we are taking my dd there for her birthday and there was many different options for special events for her day. If we are offered bounceback we will probably book for next year for ds's bday and I was trying to think of what we could do that would be special for him. I am thinking we may try Hoop de do - not exactly what I was looking for what it might do. Having said that - both my dd and ds are going on one of the pirate adventures this year which I would think are more geared toward boys although some girls (dd included) would like them too. I see your point that it is definitely easier to find more *all girl* activities but there are ones that appeal to the boys as well. I don't think they would have any probably selling out those events either.

I, for one, would be all over getting an ADR for a Buzz and Woody Character meal, or a Pirate one, or Monster's Inc. I do have a son and it is on my mind. We took DD to WDW for her birthday and did Princess everything- there really is no equivalent dining experience for boys there.

It has made us reconsider going to WDW for DS's 4th birthday and instead staying at the Nick Hotel and going to Universal. There are more specific boy themed attractions there IMO.

Really not sure what we are doing..... we have until May 2010 to decide- maybe by then there will be more boy stuff other than the P&P Party.

Don't sweat it aarmando20. I don't even have a little boy, but can see how those who do, can get overrun by the princess stuff. I think my husband would have appreciated a Star Wars meal in lieu of one of the princess ones we drug him too He still think he's a Jedi

My DD LOVES LOVES LOVES all the princess stuff, but she would surely love a Monsters, Inc. or Toy Story meal too.......it would be something different for everyone.

My boys would be THRILLED with a Buzz Lightyear (or similar) dining experience.

That said, my daughter LOVES princess stuff but when we went to the P&P Party last January she dressed as a pirate because the princess dresses were "way too itchy!"

I'm sorry you felt I was rude. I was simply stating my opinion, which I believe is as welcome on these boards as yours - everyone has the right to speak their mind.

I don't have children. I do have a neice and a nephew that I take to disney sometimes. I seems that on these boards the moms of boys like to complain about how Disney does more things for girls without thinking through the reasoning for the different treatment.

My point about the cost of the crown package was that princesses make Disney a lot of money so that is why they are willing to have sooooo many princess activities. If no one went to the princess activities or people weren't willing to pay the high cost then they wouldn't be offered.

My point about the moms of boys not buying merchandise the way moms of girls buy princess stuff is that Disney has no business reason to make more boy activities because there moms aren't buying the merchandise in large quanties. Princesses were just idea at some point, but they became very popular with lots of activities available because of the demand shown through sales. I was in no way insinuating that boy moms couldn't afford the merchandise, just that they don't buy it in as large of quanities as girl moms buy princesses.

I am not sure whether or not there is truth to the fact that Disney Management reads these boards, but I think it would be better the send Disney an email or phone call that way you can be sure they are hearing your comments/suggestion directly.

Most companies record feedback given and do pass it along to people who are responsible for making decisions like these, the more feedback that is given the more thought Disney may give to making change or in this case adding a character meal that is targeted mostly to boys.

I did e-mail Disney concerning this. It is a concern I see everytime I am in the park and as my son gets older he will see it too. I got an e-mail back from a member of Disney managment that wanted me to call her back. I never did though.
