Its Not Fair

I would send an email/phone message to someone as well. I like the idea of more variety in the character meals, "boy themed" or "girl themed". Maybe just Disney-themed, but either way it would be great.

I am kind of tired of people complaining about the "no boys meals" thing. First of all - in answer to your thread title - life's not fair.

Second - Disney is a business. The Princess meals are some of the most expensive on property and are consistantly booked solid so why would Disney not want to continue to offer the same or more of these meals. The crown package at the Bibbiddy Bobbity Boutique costs over $150.00 and judging from the parks plenty of people are booking these too. These are the reasons Disney has "princess" offerings.

Lastly - I can't think of anything that appeals ONLY to boys like, or even to the same extent as the princess do to girls. Girls would love pirates, monsters inc, pixar, toy story, star wars and all th other things that people ask for for boys. Disney hasn't ignored these things there are several pirate cruises at different hotels, there is the jedi training academy and there used to be a pirate tutorial (not sure if its still there). When the families of boys book activities (like the pirate cruise) and buy merchandize about "boy characters" at the same rate as the families of girls book activities and buy merchandize about princesses I bet Disney will add more opportunities.

As the mother of 5, (2 boys, ages 6 & 9) I'd like more information on these events... Jedi training and pirate cruises.

The last I knew (and it could have changed, or maybe it was only the one particular cruise I read about) the parents didn't go out on the cruise with the children. If this is the case, I don't care how well trained the CM's are, I would not send young children off on a boat with total strangers.

As for Jedi training, I would be willing to pay for this experience, and I'd pay big bucks, but for a long time, wasn't this only available on Star Wars weekend? I recently read it is not limited to those weekend, (Anyone know if this is true?) however, isn't still a "chosen by chance" (picked from an audience) experience? If they are taking appointments, point me to the sign up sheet... I'll have my CC ready.

(I have also read your 2ND post in this thread, but as for your 1ST post, it is unnecessarily harsh sounding.)

The pirate cruise is without parents and I agree I would not send my child without me. After all it is a family vacation...I want to experience things with them!

The Jedi training...I think is offered all of the time but you have to get their early and chance being picked which we will be doing for all of the show the two days we are at studios. DS is really wanting to do this and yes if it cost 150$ like the crown package I would be pulling out my credit card just like the parents of the girls.

I would be willing to bet if their were a Star Wars character meal you would have to call 180 days out at 7am just like CRT once the word got out.

Uhh, all the OP is saying is it would be nice if there were more boy things and shes saying it from a business pov, it would make money.

Imagine you have a daughter and son and there is tons of merchandise geared to girls in the form of meals and experiences like BBB. Obviously the boy will want something to. It doesnt have to be male only, but something like a pirate equivalent or buzz or whatever, would be nice. No one said girls can't buy them too. The OP did not say stop all the princess stuff, they asked for a bit more balance.

And life's not fair? I didn't realize that, I thought everything was equal and fair and we lived in a communist world where equality of outcome was identical from one person to the next. Im sure the OP did too and thats why they demanded changes and were rude and mean about it. Oh wait, they didn't and weren't.

Oh, OP I'd definately buy a jedi meal, and I would have really wanted one as a kid too :). I think thats a great idea whoever suggseted it.

This would be one ADR my husband would be willing to book himself. :rotfl: My boys... including dear husband, would love this. It would be the highlight of the trip, I'm sure.

I think my husband would have appreciated a Star Wars meal in lieu of one of the princess ones we drug him too:goodvibes He still think he's a Jedi:rotfl2:

Welcome to my world! DH to be (getting married next October at WDW) thinks he's a Jedi too and painfully is subjected to Princess dining experiences. Oh, what our men do for us :thumbsup2 . Poor guy :goodvibes .

As I mentioned before, seeing a "guy themed" meal would be great as would
Jedi training on NON Star Wars weekends (yes, I know this is a great way to get people to come to Star Wars Weekend, but I'm pretty sure they'd still make $$ on it all year round).

As for the "rude posts", :grouphug:, we all love Disney.. just keep that in mind.

It is true that there is really nothing special aimed at boys... I like the ideas for meals thrown out.. A Star Wars one would bevery, very cool..There should be a "male" counterpart to Bibbity Bobbity as well.. My 10 yr old son would love to be all made up as a Pirate or something and I'm sure others would as well while their sisters were doing the "princess" thing.. I know boys can go in there and get some sparkle or something BUT I know mine wouldnt do this on a dare just beacuse of all the "princess focus" in there.. But, if there was a special "pirate boutique" or become "Anakin" or something- he would be all over it.. Also, I'm sure there are many little girls out there ( that are like I was when a child), I would have rather died than been turned into a princess but a pirate - well that would have been another thing altogether.

One last quote Why are you telling me the price of the BBB Crown package? are you saying that boys parents wouldn't pay $150? You do not know me nor my Financial situation.

I agree. I only have one DS (9). I would gladly pay $150 or more to have him dressed up like a pirate, Star Wars, whatever and have pictures made and a big deal made. When we go to Disney its not about the money (only on vacation) its about having a good time and making memories that are priceless.

To me its about making the kids feel special. You can't tell me those little girls don't feel VERY SPECIAL princess: when they leave the BBB. I think that is great, we are just looking for ways to make our boys have those same kind of unforgetable moments also.

My point about the moms of boys not buying merchandise the way moms of girls buy princess stuff is that Disney has no business reason to make more boy activities because there moms aren't buying the merchandise in large quanties. .

Tell that to my son who probably has every toy story 1 & 2 toy, costume, collectible!! DD has the princess costumes and movies sure, but Disney could make some real money on the toy story characters!! ( here's hoping )

My point about the moms of boys not buying merchandise the way moms of girls buy princess stuff is that Disney has no business reason to make more boy activities because there moms aren't buying the merchandise in large quanties. Princesses were just idea at some point, but they became very popular with lots of activities available because of the demand shown through sales. I was in no way insinuating that boy moms couldn't afford the merchandise, just that they don't buy it in as large of quanities as girl moms buy princesses.

I have two boys and one girl. When we go shopping, she usually gets a lot of stuff because there is so much more to buy for her. It's not that I don't buy the same amount of stuff for the boys, it's that there isn't as much out there for them to purchase! AND if/when there is something in large quantities for boys, I usually buy one of each color and/or style just because it's so RARE! I would totally go all out and spend 150 bucks on a pirates meal or jedi training or a cowboy corral or something for my boys if they would have it. We're not doing the BBB for my daughter b/c it's not fair that she gets to be pampered and the boys will just sit there. It's like that everywhere you go, not just disney. Every time i'm in the mall I complain about not having enough stuff for my boys...and i'm usually not the only one. And girls can always play with boys stuff no problem...but boys always get made fun of if they are caught anywhere near anything girlie or pink.

SOOOOO if there are any Disney Execs out there reading the DISboards, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!! You would make lots of money if that's the only reason you need! (especially the whole Jedi training thing...you would have boys (and girls) of all ages wanting to do that! :lmao:

Years ago, there was a VILLAINS breakfast at the GF. It was only around for a few months because of so many terrified children.

Well said! :thumbsup2

I had one boy and one girl......and now have two granddaughters and two grandsons......I understand where you are all coming from ...but lets be nice of other opinions and suggestions......thanks

I agree that a more boy oriented meal would go over well. I would imagine that they're toying with the idea. I would personally love a Pirates, Toy Story, or Monsters Inc. meal etc. I don't have any kids, but looking at the options for character meals in general it would make sense to have a little more diversity.

Again I'm pretty sure they're probably toying with the idea. Though I can see how it would be difficult to choose a location. Buzz and Woody are great, but there's already Pizza Planet.... Monsters Inc. wouldn't slip seamlessly into any of the already existing restaurants, neither would Pirates. Basically, they would have to create an entirely new restaurant somewhere, or replace one of the existing ones, which might not go over so well. I'm sure they try to balance the number of Character meals with non-character meals. However, maybe such a Character Dining Experience is in the plans for the future.

Amen!

It's funny because it almost seems (from a buyer's perspective seeing products, etc) that as a culture we value little girls more than little boys.

Picture this. Your family boards a pirate ship outside of DHS captain Jack is stearing the ship from there he takes you an a boat ride to the Beach Club where on the beach Captain hook and other pirates there having a BBQ. I don't know about you but sign me up.

Haha... that would be absolutely awesome. You should develop a presentation and present it to Disney.
