Ok, I have a 3 scenario situations, I'd like opinions on..I think I'm going w/B.

A) Fly on JetBlue to WDW on Fri, I'd have to get the earliest flight because the flight I want is $290 just one way:scared1:...BTW, I have an Amex JetBlue card.

B) Fly down on Thurs instead, I get an extra day in WDW:yay: I can take a later flight and save over $100. But thats means taking another day off from work (should have the time) an extra day to budget for food, but this portion of the trip is solo, so no TS would fine anyway.'

C) Fly Delta...Which obviously wont earn me any miles whatsoever, I dont have a Delta credit card, and the Sky Miles just from this one trip wouldnt amount to much...HOWEVER, it's cheaper than both above scenarios.

....personally, I pick option #2. You could always stay either off-site, in the DTD area, OR stay at one of the values. That way, they can transport your stuff F-o-C.....it's really not a big deal to transfer from one WDW resort to another, epecially if you don't have young ones [ or senior citizens]....as far as the 'bugeting of food', well, you gotta eat anyhoo....grab something at the Food Court, or go to Earl of Sandwich at DTD....

Hi everyone :) Hope you all are having a great day!

Hi Ann... :wave2:

We stopped at a smokehouse along the way, and had some great pulled pork sandwiches, I am hoping for some great seafood tonight...

Texas style pulled pork correct? I have never eaten pulled pork in the north east but I really, really can't handle North Carolina style. :sad2:

* Love North Carolina, the countryside, people and all the rest of the food. Just no BBQ with vinagar watery sauce and cole slaw on top. :scared1:

I just moved to AKL from POR for next week. We will be there the 19th through 24th. I am so excited!

Super....you are going to fall in love with AKL. Have a great trip. :)

Heh heh...ditto.

We arrive at WDW (Kidani), late afternoon of the 6th. We'll be at MK on the 7th.

You can find the announcements about the opening all over the place, but here's a good start:

www.allears.net

Hey Rodney :goodvibes good to see you again. So you have a trip to Norway coming up soon. How awesome is that! :thumbsup2

Good morning Js & Ks! :)

I thought we were cutting our business trip short and coming home today, but that's not happening. 2 more days here, with no work to do! :(

AKL IPO came through for me this morning! The F&WF frenzy started today at 7am. IPO got our reservation for the Mexico Tequila Lunch on 10/14!!! JD (that's my DH! ;)) will be so happy!! :woohoo:

Laura two more days :sad2: Hope your hotel has a nice pool area, rest and relax getting ready for WDW? Do you need to do any shopping for WDW? Catch up on your DIS time? Notice it all has to do with your next vacation. :rotfl:

Jen, I agree with Pam on C. Because we all love WDW and want as much time as we can get. However I think I would go with A. My reasons are you would have extra time at WDW with flying out on the first flight of the day. It will not require you to take off another day from work and no extra money for a hotel room or food for an extra day.

Also Delta charges for luggage and I have had issues with their flight leaving and arriving on time. So they are not on my list of good airlines. But that is just me.

Hey everyone! I can't believe how quickly this thread moves when you take a few days off!

I did read up but probably can't comment on everyone. I do want to get my $.02 Ann. I think he might be taking you to one of those inclusive resorts, but that's only a guess!

So many people with upcoming trips how exciting! I decided not to get up at 4AM and book any events. The only one that I'm really wanting is PFTS and I'm hoping that doesn't sell out.

Our weekend was fabulous, but incredibly exhausting. I have a lot to catch up on and over a thousand pictures for my TR!

Wow Alison...that is an idea that never entered my mind. An inclusive resort is a good possibility. :thumbsup2 We talked earlier this year about how we have never been to one.

I am so glad you had a fabulous weekend. You both so deserve one! Looking forward to reading your TR and over a thousand pictures. :yay:

....:scratchin don't s'pose anyone's interested in an update......nahhhhhhh.....popcorn::

Nope

not at all

Really working to get off that pole? School is starting soon so you better hurry.

I will head on over to read in a little while Kim

Jen, to me you are the only one that can answer this question. I don't know how much of an impact this will cause financially. Does the extra day off from work put you in a bind or the flight or extra day at WDW, if you guys don't think it will be too much of an impact I always say go for the extra day, but I am a skinflint and always look to save money too...

Yes... Dry rubbed, not sauced!!!!! Smoked for 14 hours kind of pulled pork. We are Texans and must have it Texas Style.

Evening J's & K's - hope everyone is good today, I'm SOOOOOOOOOO tired and worn out, was out in the pool all day with DH - light yardwork around the area - I'm pooped!!! LOL

YAY - glad you got it!!

Thats so funny, DH just pulled some pork butts/shoulders off the smoker - DRY rubbed as well - OMG, we had pulled pork for dinner tonight - it was beyond good. He smoked his for almost 19 hours - 210 degrees - it literally just fell apart when he pulled it off - with that amazing bark it gets on it........... OMG, my mouth is watering again!!!! :)

Jen - I'd always go with the extra day if I could afford it. Did ya get your car back??

Alison - can't wait to see pics!!! :)

Laura - sorry you're stuck there for a couple more days - maybe you can explore some more?

Pilferk - good to see ya!!

OK all - hope you have a wonderful night!! :goodvibes

Such a tough life, Wendy - hanging out at the pool all day! :rotfl:

I was watching TDC Nala's thread this morning -- I'm so glad IPO took care of booking our F&WF Tequila lunch. From what I saw posted, the phones were worse than ever this year. :(

My colleague and I are checking out of this hotel tomorrow, heading to St. Louis and staying near the airport. We've done just about all we can do out here by the Base and with a full day and no commitments Wednesday, we figured we'd go back to the big city and play!! ;) Can't wait to get home Thursday night! :)

We had lunch at the County Grill & Smokehouse
http://www.yelp.com/biz/county-grill-and-smokehouse-yorktown
This was really good and we were glad we stopped

And we had dinner at
Bennet's creek Marina and Restaurant
http://www.yelp.com/biz/bennetts-creek-restaurant-and-marina-suffolk
This was ok, nothing really had a taste and the placed was a little run down, but the view was amazing...

forgot to take BBQ pictures...

But here are the seafood ones.

the buzzer thing to take you to the table was a lobster, don't think I had ever seen one before like this..

Today on the drive back we stopped at little homemade ice cream shop, called "short lane" and I got these

Now we are home safe and sound!

1,000 pictures, whew! Can't wait to see them :)

I'm workin' on it!

I don't know, when I read that it was the first thing that entered my mind. There are a lot of of them down in the islands there, and it doesn't make sense to fly all the way back to Hawaii. :confused3

The only thing is that it was incredibly mentally stimulating, wonderfully emotional and not a minute of resting! I need a break from my break! :lmao:

Jen, to me you are the only one that can answer this question. I don't know how much of an impact this will cause financially. Jen, I'm in this same camp. I've heard you struggle with finances when you talk about your trip and not affording passes, so you would be a better judge of what will work for you. That said, we don't buy a THING that doesn't somehow get us Airline miles, or other kinds of points because in the long run we use them. We haven't actually paid for an airline ticket in over 5 years. Of course we haven't been on a plane in almost a year and a half. :scratchin but when we go again we lots of miles to use now! :rotfl2:

Can wait for the pics..... :yay::yay::yay::yay:

I'm doing it as fast as I can!

With all this talk of pulled pork, maybe I'll go out to the freezer and get my Kirkland pulled pork! That's the closest I'm going to get to homemade!

I can't wait to post the pics!

Hey Rodney :goodvibes good to see you again. So you have a trip to Norway coming up soon. How awesome is that! :thumbsup2

I lurk a lot...but it's tough to post and follow along when work is crazy (as it has been). Hoping it'll start slowing down in mid-September.

We're not GOING to Norway. We ARE the Norway's. It's our last name. :)

Good morning Js & Ks! Heading to St. Louis today - it will finally feel like we are going home soon!! ;) I'm getting excited for my upcoming WDW trip -- so very needed!

Brandi - your rum runner caught my eye!! ;) My traveling companion doesn't drink -- it's been a LONG week!! :rotfl2:

Hi. I have been lurking here for a while. We are new DVC owners at AKL so was getting as much info as I could. This is a great site/thread. Everyone so friendly.
Someone mentioned a number of pages back about a tree nut allergy and trying Zebra Domes. DH has a nut allergy and was warned to avoid all pastries and cakes at AKL by the head chef at Boma's. One type of zebra domes actually has walnuts in it and the other types could easily be contaminated. All cake bases and pastries are not made at individual resorts so they can not say if they have been contaminated. Please speak with the Head Chef when you arrive. They will point out what has nuts in it and if you want they will prepare special dishes for you that are completely nut free with no chance of contamination.

Thanks! That was me that mentioned the nuts a while back. I have actually been to Boma before and the chef came out and showed me everything I could not have due to nuts being in the various dishes. I will ask about the Zebra domes when I get there. I can probably eat the ones that are "contaminated" -- but not the ones with the nuts actually in there. We shall see. My DD18 can eat the ones with the nuts. Either way, I'll bring back photos of them!!! :cool1:

.

...they're just gonna make it 'more ready' for ya....;)

Ok good:lmao:

Jen, it would be hard to choose between getting an extra day at Disney or doing delta. Where would you stay that extra night? I almost think it would bs more hassle to have to move again after one night. I think I'd go with scenario #3.

I already have to move after 1 night.....As it stands right now, I have 1 night in a Jambo savanna view studio, then I move to CL level..If I added an extra night, I'd just have 2 nights in Jambo studio before CL level.

....personally, I pick option #2. You could always stay either off-site, in the DTD area, OR stay at one of the values. Yeah, but I just dont think I can deal w/spending $400 on a flight:(

Yup, sure did....And thats an issue, too...Finally decided we HAD to get tickets for the parks, and the car repair cost more than tickets for the 2 of us:worried: so I may not be seeing the parks...I have to hope pixie dust comes my way before that.
