We're looking to possibly stay with DVC points, most likely JAMBO house.

4 of us Studio..

Value would be for 121 points

Standard for 148 points...

We obviously would want to go in for least possible but my questions are these:

1. Is the difference in size of the room, really noticeable?

2. Where would the value rooms be? Front side of Ostrich Trails?

3. Where would the other spots be for Standard? Which bldgs. Facing where? WOuld I possibly be facing the pool area w/ a standard or maybe even the Atrium?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....I have a few hours to book either here or Kidani w/ out possibly losing out on some or all of our days....Apr 7-16.

Not to be off topic here, but just thought I might add this..

Just got back from our 11 night BWV trip Sept 1st.
1st time ever for villas or deluxe, and Boy were we missing out.

BWV is certainly very nice, great location, atmosphere, restaurants, and yes even the dreaded CLOWN Pool too...

The only thing we absolutely hated was the Dungeon like laundry room.(More like a closet) It had 3 washers and only 2 dryers, which only 1 was working for part of the trip....

My next trip is scheduled right now for SSR, but we are waiting until I can see if AKL becomes available...And I hope it does..

Questions I have :

1.)Is the Studio value that drastic a difference ( size/ accomodating wise ) than the standard?

2.)Do the pools have Elaborate slides, or just a generic slide?

3.) What about the main Laundry Room? Has to be better than BWV.

I'm glad you had a great trip! :)

I'm not sure about the difference in size between value and standard, I'd like to know that also.

Jambo House has a nice slide but nothing elaborate. Kidani has a really fun pool area with an interactive water play area and longer twistier slide.

Laundry room at Jambo is not a dungeon but only has two washers and four dryers. I don't have any idea about Kidani's laundry.

Hi everybody :wave2: hope everyone is doing well :)

Kathy, I'm sorry about the surgery  prayers that everything goes perfectly and with a speedy recovery.

I went with a standard view for the first time for our November trip. We just don't hang out in the room enough to justify the extra $$$.

But, I'm all anxious about where we'll end up...

Where are standard rooms located? We can't be anywhere near the smoking area because of DS13s allergies & asthma.

Where does that leave us????

Here are special wishes to everyone planning a trip to WDW in the near future !! pixiedust:

Marco and I have been blessed with a WONDERFUL AUGUST ! and we are very thankful about this ! My parents and his Mum did well all month long , so we could completely enjoy our Hawai’ian vacation !!

Here are some of our most “intriguing” memories – which we are happy to share with our AKL friends !!

In Keauhou (Big Island) we had a touching Vow Renewal ceremony , at sunrise , by the ocean : it was a complimentary feature , offered by our resort.
I especially was so emotional – and we made also some new friends !

ry%3D400

In Kauai island we saw the most beautiful “works of art” by Nature and came across to “strange” signs , such as “Nene crossing” ( Nene is the Hawai'i state bird ) or this one !! ;)

ry%3D400

This is “the view” we loved every day from our hotel room in Big Island : actually I could see sunset sitting in the armchair or from my bed – no need to go on to the verandah !! ( although we spent lots of time sitting there and watching the green turtles and tropical fish playing in the tide pool just below our balcony !! Something I’ll never forget !)

ry%3D400

One of the highlights of our vacation was a day-long trip to the Kilauea (active) Volcano , where we admired gorgeous rain forest , incredible plumes of thick steam and gases rising out of Halema’uma’u Crater , a lava tube ( we even walked through !) and A LAKE of molten lava !! glowing in the distance at night !

ry%3D400

It was a perfect vacation and we have now so many beautiful memories about it !
This is why we both thought of sharing some photos with you all .

As you always listened to our “big or little” problems with so much understanding  and friendship – we are now happy to tell you ALSO about our “incredible” vacation !

Love … or should I say ALOHA to all of you !!
Have a beautiful weekend !! Laura & Marco

Ciao Laura!

I'm glad that you and Marco had such an amazing vacation. Congrats on your vow renewal in beautiful Hawaii. Jack and I got married on Waikiki Beach.

It's great news that your parents and Marco's Mum did well while you were gone.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures. Prayers for good health for you, Marco and your family.

....hey guys, where are our resident DVC people??? Can you guys help out my brother, as I don't really know enough about DVC rooms vs. 'regular resort rooms' (for lack of better terminology) locations.....would 'value DVC' be considered 'the same as' std regular rooms, located on the pkg lot side of Ostrich and Giraffe Trails? Would a Std Studio DVC room be a pool-view room? Obviously the savannah rooms would be facing the savannahs....

laura, love the vow renewal and so happy that your parents are doing so well and that you both had a great vacation...

I really don't know the answer... My best bet would be to call the DVC member services and ask.

Well friends, I have very good news and bad news.

My DH and I are celebrating our birthdays the end of September. I guess at our age, we should be glad that we can still celebrate.:lmao: So our daughter, Erin, is coming down for a visit. :woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay: We haven't seen her since December. Erin and her DH came down to see our new home in Central Florida and then the four of us drove to the AKL for a well deserved vacation.

Since Erin's favorite restaurant is Boma,:worship: I have made ADRs at Boma for breakfast and dinner. After breakfast, we'll check out Jambo and Kidani and then we will be doing a little shopping at Downtown Disney. Since we can't go to the Parks, this will be a perfect day to Erin.

I'm laughing as I'm typing this. It's our birthdays, and we are doing all of Erin's favorite things. I guess that is the job of good parents; making sure our kids come first.

The bad news is that on Sept. 11, I'm going to have a hysterectomy.:sad2: I've been having some problems for over a year, and this is the last resort. I'll only be in the hospital a few days, and will be doing everything I can to get up and around asap so that I will be able to enjoy my time with Erin.

Since I'll be limited to things that I can do for a while, I'll have plenty of time to DIS.

I'm sorry to learn (from above posts) about your surgery , I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday ! I went through this years ago , I'm sure you will be fine in few days :thumbsup2 so that you'll be able to fully enjoy your daughter's visit !!
Special Italian hugs coming your way !!! :wave2: laura

OK, I just called to ask if there were any standard rooms on Zebra or Kudu Trails. The CM couldn't tell me. Does anyone here know?

I don't want Ostrich or Giraffe, so I'm thinking I should upgrade to pool view just to be safe... but then I could still get Giraffe. :confused3 Not sure what to do... :headache:

I LOVE this! I am SO glad you all had a good anniversary trip. I would say that you both certainly deserved it.

The "Value" studios are smaller than the regular Jambo studios. I would never consider putting 4 people in a "Value". There is almost NO storage room at all. The Value rooms are all located on Ostrich & Giraffe Trail (5th floor). IIRC, they could be either pool, parking lot or savannah view (although it's not a true savannah view - it's the corner of Sunset Savannah).

I know it's nice to use the least amount of points, but a Value or even possibly a Jambo Deluxe Studio, would be a bit crowded for a family of 4. A Kidani studio would be the best bang for the points. Kidani was built specifically as a DVC and would be much more comfortable for your bro's family. (JMO!)

Hope that helps! :)

Laura & Marco - So good to hear from you! Happy you had a wonderful trip. LOVE  the picture of you 2 - the cutest couple ever! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I laughed so hard at your post...it just hit me funny. :duck: So to help you become unconfused:

Hopefully when Fran's leg heals up and she is back on her RA medication she will be able to relaxed more to enjoy a longer trip.

Ann

I'm glad I could provide some comic relief! Even when Fran is healed long vacations will not be in the cards, but perhaps frequent short ones. Our kitties don't have wonderful sitters like you have. They are usually mad at us for a few days after we get back. I'm pushing it with 10 nights in January.

Kathy - sorry to hear about your surgery, but Fran tells me that getting fixed was the best thing she ever did! I hope you end up feeling the same!

Laura - I hope you enjoy your visit to Texas!

Laura - Thanks for sharing your beautiful vacation pictures!

DizDad7 - From the TRs I've read a Value studio is VERY ctamped for four adults. Though you have two kids, given their age and sibling dislike, you might find the room a bit confining.

That is cool

When I hear someone from Jersey "knowing" people, it does not bring directors and movie stars...

:lmao:

And congrats on 25K!

I agree, my motto in life...

I have seen too many people "wait until it was right" and right never happens.

I finally convinced Fran that with this recent bout of medical misfortune, living with RA, we should stop "waiting to get better". That's why we are finally taking a cruise.
