We just arrived to Jambo this afternoon and it is incredible! My DD is taking a nap and I'm just watching some zebras (I think, hard to see cause it's dark) snacking. So peaceful. This place is wonderful!

I can't wait to be doing the same thing Monday night. Relax on the balcony with a beer.

Well, I officially love AKL -Kidani!

We moved yesterday from BWV. Last evening we checked in after a long day at MK (and a long night packing to move) and it turns out - we were the Kidani FOD. We got upgraded from a 1-bedroom Savannah view to a 2-bedroom Savannah view. This room is enormous!

And there are giraffes outside my window.

I don't ever want to leave.

Giraffes how amazing! Right now its garbage day here so I have garbage men outside my window care to swap! Lol what is FOD please?

I see talk of upgrades, but am wondering if it's even POSSIBLE to get an upgrade from a standard/pool room to a villa. I am starting to figure out that DVC villas are a seperate entity than regular rooms, so I'm assuming it cannot happens. But I'd be willing to give up a good view for a bigger room (just can't afford it right now). I guess I just have wishful thinking, but if it's IMPOSSIBLE than I will quit my dreaming! LOL.

....well, theoretically it is possible, but certainly not likely....DVC and rack rooms are two separate entities....

Conversely I'm not an owner and had my first stay in October and our standard view DVC studio became a savannah view DVC studio (waaaaaaaay down kudu trail). Its up to chance and I would always pay for what I want if it is important/you can!

As others said it is really unlikely. However, one affordable ways of staying in a DVC accommodation would be renting points from a DVC member. There is a rent/trade board here on the DIS (in the DVC section) and there are some "resellers" as well that broker deals between DVC members and people wanting to rent points.

Most likely that was a re-classified standard view studio. Some of the "bad" savanna views which have limited viewing are standard view despite the fact that the savanna can be seen from there. There is someone on the DVC boards who seems to keep a running list of those re-classified studios and all the way down Kudu trail sounds like one of these locations.

Actually, upgrading through DVC is really uncommon as the system works so that any given night more or less all rooms would be occupied (if all owners want to use their points they would be full all the time).
