Hi all ~ I finally filled out my passport forms online....for myself and my kids, dh will do his own.

The hold up for my Quebec birth certificate. I got it in the mail today and filled out the forms. I'll go for pictures this week/weekend and hopefully get to the passport office next week.

We are going to California in the summer! YIPPEE! Sandra

Getting your passports early. Good idea.
I'm from the Montreal area, born in the east end then moved to Greenfield Park
.
Went through the Quebec birth certificate nonsense a few years ago.

Been in the Toranna area since '86.

I miss Quebec comfort food.

Sandra,
I was at the passport office yesterday (Tuesday 9am)....brought a book, my ipod, some knitting expecting to spend hours there. Once the pre-screener checked my documents I was give a piece of paper with the number 94 on it, 4 minutes later my number was called, 7 minutes later I was walking out of there. I was in shock walking to my car. They told me that the previous day at the same time which would have been a Monday the wait was 2 hours long.
I can consider myself a lucky person that day!

I was at the Mississauga office the Tuesday before Easter. Lined up before the office opened. Once the office opened I was served in under 15 minutes. I got the passport last Friday. It only took them 7 working days to prcess the application. I did have the simplified frenewal form

DH was in to the London office today. He went in and spoke immediately to the pre-screener, given the number 58 and DING! was called to the desk. We had his (online renewal), DD16 (first adult passport) and DD14(renewal of child's passport). We were told to expect the passports in about 2 weeks. :thumbsup2

What nonsense did you have to go through??? I'am asking this because we have to get passports and my DH was born in Quebec and we noticed when reading the passports that his birth certificate actually isn't good enough for getting the passport??? Something about having to fill out more forms and file for another birth certificate? He moved from Quebec when he was 8 and is now into his 40's and has never been back since.

Here's some info. I hope you don't need your passpots in the next couple of weeks.

I called the Directeur de l'etat civil directly and they were very helpful. It took a few weeks for my documents to arrive.

I guess there must be a security reason behind it.

All three passports arrived today, 11 days after dropping the info off at the Passport office in London. Much less stressful :thumbsup2 than DD's foray last year when she mailled the application--less than 12 weeks before her trip to Finland. :scared1:

Are you aware that so long as you have you husbands passport application and all supporting documents, that you can take it in with you when you put in your passport application, and can have both done at once, and save the extra trip to the passport office? So long as you are married you can do this. Last year I did this for my husband, and while the passport person asked a few more questions, they still processed my husbands passport application. Something to think about. Have a great trip!

Nonsence? The Quebec Govt? heeheehee:bitelip:

In the 80's they issued NEW birth certificates.....so I got it.

In the 90's they issued NEW birth certificates.....so I got it FINALLY after THREE tries.
