It's kind of fun to do the impossible - Disney with a 1 month old *new 2/13/15*

Emma is 3 months! I wonder if she already has a favorite WDW ride. You have to wonder at night in her little baby dreams if she dreams of train whistles, Monorail conductors, and large pantomiming friendly characters.

Anyhoo, those fancy ice cream sandwiches look great, though I do bet they get messy! Love the shot with your three little ones. Felt exhausted just looking at that.

Definitely do think about what, if anything, she retained from the trip. On the flip side her entire life has included trips to meet mice that are 5 times your size, mermaids, meals in castles, etc. .... she is going to be disappointed when she realizes that isn't normal life :rotfl:

The Brioche ice cream sandwhiches are great and I think it if wasn't so hot they wouldn't have nearly gotten so messy - more the heat of the day than anything that got to them.

Thanks! There were moments of exhaustion - and moments like that one that seemed to last a lot longer than they did in actuality - but overall it was totally worth it!

So, I'm sure I could look this up, but I'm feeling lazy and uninformed, so: what are the details of the (rumored) plans for Soarin'? :confused3

So there are a ton of rumors out there but from what I can gather:
- Disneyland, EPCOT, Shanghai Disneyland, and Tokyo Disney Sea will all be getting new Soarin' movies
- It is unclear if they will all be getting the same movie or different ones.
- Whatever is produced will be more than just "over California" with possible names being "Soarin' over the World" and "Soarin' over the Horizon" ... though it is possible that the one in Disneyland, CA will still be focused on CA and the one in EPCOT will be focused on the East Coast (NYC, down to Disney World)
- Expected locations to be included in some/all of the films: England, France, Italy, Egypt, India, China, Japan, and for the U.S.A: the Grand Canyon, New York, Disney World. Other posible destinations include: Brasil and Rio de Janeiro's bay or Iguacu Falls, The Amazonia forest or the old Inca Machu-Pichu fortress in Peru
- It is understood they have already filmed new footage of Disneyland CA and California Adventure (with special focus on Carsland) - again, unclear which locations will get that footage.
- Film will be upgraded to digital and 4K and all that stuff
- Rumor that it will have the variable nature of Star Tours - that is, will get different segments each ride
- Strong rumor that they will be adding a third theater to the EPCOT location
- Originally saw expected to open in 2015, but now seeing more like 2016 expected given the building a new theater (seeing some thoughts that they will build the new theather for the new movie, then retrofit the existing theaters so the ride won't be totally closed at all/much)

Ok, so that was tons of speculation :rotfl2:

Wow, I didn't notice until seeing the comments, but Olivia really does have a flexible neck!

Man, I often feel like I don't have enough hands with one kid around - I don't know how you do it with three! :worship: That picture does seem to sum it up well, though. :thumbsup2

Mmmm, I had (most of) one of those Croque Glaces on my last trip. Great treat and I never would have known about it without the DIS (and I had an ice cream martini with it). Yum!!

yeah, Olivia is pretty flexible and seems to have inherited some of that hyperflexibility from Judi. One reason we will likely keep her out of gymnastics so as to not exacerbate that

Hey, you figure it out.... just like you have to figure out how to do things with one kid. Doesn't mean it is always easy, but you figure it out and make it work :thumbsup2

Ooh, having it with an ice cream martini sounds really nice! Definitely one of my favorite treats at WDW and they were definitely big enough to split which was nice.

Yum! I love Sunshine Seasons!

Hehehe I have a German friend who would be very proud of me if I hit Deutsche on SE and practised a little!

:rotfl2: That queue is soooo long!

Awww, that's so cute!

Wow! Emma is getting so big! Look at her, what a cutie.

Yeah, the film on Soarin' really needs to be cleaned up. I still love the ride though.

Those Croque Glace look amazing. On my list for next trip!

We definitely were happy with the quality of the food at Sunshine Seasons. Depending on when we travel and if Food & Wine is going on not sure how often we will make it there, but definitely will be keeping it on the list of possible places to go again.

Yeah, I took German in High School and was able to catch some things (especially knowing the general script helped) but it goes pretty fast so was a challenge to totally keep up. It turned out to be a fun moment but if that was like our first time on the ride I would have been more upset.

Yeah, the quality of the film doesn't make me enjoy the attraction less - just excited for a new version when you see how the quality goes up like with the new version of Star Tours

Definitely support you having the Croque Glace on your list :thumbsup2

I can't believe Em is 3 months old already! She is so sweet!!!

Your sweets sure look good. I have never even noticed that place before.

Love the pic of Belle with your family. I love Belle and would love a picture of her in that blue outfit.

Love the picture of all three kids waiting on the bench outside Soarin'. A true depiction of family vacations.:rotfl2:

Your snacks/treats throughout the WS all look delicious. And probably the smartest choices for combating that awful August heat. That stinks that the Belle M & G line wasn't in the shade. But, thinking about it, I guess there aren't tons of shaded spots available in the WS, and the one nearest was probably reserved for the princess herself. :confused3 Still, I think it's great that you all stuck it out and got that character interaction. I know adults complain a lot about the heat, so I can't imagine two kids handled it well. (Even at 1, Landon gets cranky if he starts sweating.)

Thank you - yeah definitely a good summary of our trip :rotfl:

Yeah, they do the best they can but if people are going to wait for a while before the meet time even starts there is only so much they can do. At least Judi was able to find that bench in the shade to take Emma too

I have to say the kids did pretty good with the heat all things considered. Had one trying moment (should be covered in the next update) but that was more about myself and Judi getting frazled than the kids

Time is definitely flying! She rolled over for the first time the other day.

It is relatively new and it kinda in the back of the France pavilion so you sort of need to know it is there. Definitely worth checking out though ... you can also just get regular scoops of ice cream - you don't have to get the brioche sandwiches

Yeah, it is nice they have Belle out in her village dress - though that spot in EPCOT is the only place so seems like there is always a line. In the past we met her there with Beast, but now it is just her

Thank you Lauren! We did have a nice meal there. I wasn't totally sure what to expect (other than the strawberry shortcake) especially thinking that we would get there for breakfast - but glad I remembered the positive reviews for the fish tacos and the food the kids got was good too!

So basically what the ice cream thing is is a brioche bun that they put a scoop of ice cream in, sauce of your choice and put it in something that kinda looks like a waffle iron to seal it

This is taken from Disney Food Blog as I didn't get a good picture of the inside of ours, but this is roughly what our pistachio with raspberry sauce one looked like on the inside (just ours was more melted):

AH! Thank you for explaining this! I honestly want to attempt to make these at home because they look so good!! I will have to try one for sure next time! :)

Thanks for all the details on Soarin'! :goodvibes I can't wait to see how it all turns out. Is there a date yet for when it's going down for refurb?

I do not know of a date it will go down. And, depending on how things go with the new theater it might actually not go down ... they might get the new theater up and running first and then close down the old theaters to retrofit them

Just got all caught up. Great last update, especially nice to secure the 4th FP+ for Illuminations. That is good information to know.

And the dessert looks great!

Happy 3 months to Emma!

Great choice with the Unibroue beer! Yum!!

Thank you! Disney as a whole, I feel, has definitely stepped up the quality of the beer they have. I mean, they have a ways to go and obviously tend towards things with connections to InBev, but it is improving

We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to get Illuminations as our 4th FP at that point in the day (wasn't super late, but was in the early afternoon) and it definitely worked out great! Especially now that they got rid of tiering to be able to get Soarin' and Test Track ahead of time knowing you can get Illuminations later is a good thing I think

I'm attempting to catch up (without much success I am afraid).

Loved your update.

I can't believe Emma is 3 months old already.

You are "that guy" that recites the preload at Soarin'! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Very nice of the CM to let your wife sample the beer.

I am now drooling over your dessert choice. We still haven't gone in there...must rectify that on our next trip.

Love the pictures with Belle. :)

Thank you Kathy! I know, time really does fly!

man, I didn't realize it was so bad to be "that guy" :lmao: And to be fair, the only thing I really said out loud was the "these little beauties" line

Definitely glad Judi got to try the beer - I mean, I think we would have gotten as long as she didn't absolutely hate it as I don't think any of the other options appealed to her - but definitely appreciated!

Definitely check out the L'Artisan place - lots of good stuff there and it was pretty empty when I went - I think since it is in the back and you kinda need to know about it, keeps the crowds down a bit.

Thanks - pretty happy with the Belle pictures and the entire interaction :goodvibes

You've got to work harder than that to impress a 3 month old, Phil. Honestly.

Marie is very excited for a new film too. I'm moderately excited. It does need updates.

Looks like you're handling them fine in that picture :p

Your TRs always remind me of things I have yet to do and need to do. Like watch more Epcot performers.

Peter looks like a little sass master ;) But glad the wait for Belle was worth it.

Awww, can't believe Emma is already three months old! Time flies!

I'm glad Olivia did so well on Soarin'. DH was hoping to take Paxton when we got to DL in March but it's supposed to be down for refurb when we go. Boo!

That picture of the three kids while waiting for Judi is just priceless! :lmao: I'm thinking we will feel a lot like that when we are eventually taking just two kids to Disney.

My mouth is totally watering at the sight of those desserts. I think we need to add that to our list of places to check out next visit!!

I thought I heard that they were redoing the video for soarin. Still that was my number one goal for our upcoming trip FP + for soarin ( my favorite ride ). By the way our daughter was accepted into the DCP! She starts at the end of January!

and now that she figured out how to roll over and is very impressed with herself if will be even more work on my end!

I really enjoy how immerse Soarin' is so I would be happy even if they just converted the current film to digital - but a new film is even more exciting especially if they go the Star Tours 2.0 route and have it change up each time what you see

Totally agree with you Amber! Seems like every TR I read I find something else I didn't know about or just makes me want to do something new :thumbsup2

Well, we call him Pistol Pete for a reason!

Oh no! That's too bad Soarin' will be down when you go to DL! Soarin' seem like a good first "big" ride as it is exciting but I think safer feeling than like Everest or something

It was just a moment of helplessness as i couldn't really go anywhere with Peter passed out so doing what I could to keep Emma calm while not straying too hard. We try not to go overboard with screen time for Olivia but that was a time I really appreciated having a smart phone!

Even with the film in the condition it is in the line for Soarin' can get quite long so I would definitely still get a FP+ for it

Huge congratulations to you for your daughter getting into the DCP! That must be so exciting for you! and her a bit as well I guess ;)

Seriously though that is really awesome news! :goodvibes

Absolutely, I got FP for it for both of our Epcot days. And thanks, she and I have been talking about her applying for years. Now, her dream is about to become a reality! I am so thrilled for her it is hard to even put it into words.

Awww, I'm so glad Olivia liked Soarin'! And it's so funny that she thought you would fly out of the building! The first time I went on it, I had NO IDEA what to expect... and while I figured we weren't actually flying anywhere I couldn't quite figure out WHAT we would be doing!

Three months old!! What a cutie pie!!!

That ice cream sandwich thingy looks delish!!

so I am way late to this party, but i'm here now and excited to see all the baby pictures!!! I mean, hear all about your trip! going back to read and catch up!

I'm not sure if Olivia actually thought we would leave the building but I am sure she was very confused at first :rotfl:

It was very yummy - and very fresh tasting!

:welcome: Thank you for joining Lori! ... yeah, their might be some trip report mixed in with the baby pictures. And if you have a few hours to kill check out the pre-trip report which includes coverage of her actual birth. I mean, not the actual birth, but you get the idea
