It's Going To Be A Jolly Olly Holiday In Disney PTR I've got one foot out the door!!

I would give the older kid money, as he would probably like that better as most teenagers do

I would have it in the room each night when u get back from the parks

Maybe before you leave each morning to go out, you can run back in and say you need to use bathroom or forgot something ;)

Then u can plant the gifts for them. to find later that night

I would have them be from Tinkerbell or from their fav characters:goodvibes

I like the idea of a little pixie dust and giving the kids daily presents. You can tell them that Tink or whoever are leaving them each day based on their good behavior. That way they get a nice treat plus it is an extra incentive for them to get along and behave. ;)

:: plink :: :: plink :: - here's my two cents!

I say to have a welcome gift for each child upon arrival. Your oldest can get the money/gift card and the two younger can get the autograph book, lanyard & other goodies. Then nightly or daily you could give each of the two younger a "pin-a-day" and your oldest can get a bag of coal :rotfl2: just kidding... I don't know what I would do for him daily...

Hope I help

I agree with the nightly gift. I would send the others out the door with you being last and say you will meet them downstairs in the lobby or whereever you are close to you know? My parents used to do that. My mom would send my Dbro and I out the door with Ddad and then she'd meet us after she set up the surprises!!!

I agree..older one money unless there's a huge desire for an autograph book.

Autograph books on the first day for sure and pin lanyard if they are trading I guess??

As far as the treats go, do your kids enjoy the mickey pretzels? The mini bags are pretty inexpensive-.79 a bag I believe? We love those and assuming they are eating enough sweets and stuff throughout the week, it would be something nice as well. I plan on getting a huge bag or 2 and having my kids at school eat them :)

LOVE THE SURPRISES!!!

Your ideas sound awesome! Make it from their favorite Disney characters! My mom used to give me presents "from Minnie Mouse" and I LOVED THEM! One time she gave me a Minnie Mouse purse and when I met Minnie she pointed at it and so I thought it meant she was happy I was wearing the purse she got me, LOL!

I think you should just do one "package" though and have it when you get there. If you can't get them in the room before the kids get there, maybe have someone "deliver it." As I got older I started to ask my mom how my present got there before the mailman came etc. And she told me she saw a special Disney delivery truck appear in the driveway with pixie dust before I woke up. I know...cheesy but I believed this until I was probably in 4th grade!

Gives me warm fuzzies thinking about how excited your kids will be :) What a great mom you are!! My Disney store has some good sales right now with water bottles, kids hoodies, beach towels, etc. Maybe you could get some things on sale that they can wear/use on vacation!

I like the idea of daily gifts- that way they don't spend the money all right away & they have something to look forward to every day!

I think that it would be nice for each kid to have something a little different (as long as there won't be any jealousy issues). Personally I think it would be nice for each one to have something geared towards their age and interests. Plus, since your oldest isn't really into some of the "kiddie" things I think he would appreciate the money or an older gift.

I do think it is a great idea to have something for the kids. Maybe just one when you get to POR and one when you get to AKV, or just one thing when you get there. I kind of think that maybe everyday is a little overboard, plus so much work for you. This way they get a little nice surprise from Mickey when they arrive at the hotels. I like the idea of it coming from Mickey, I'm so into the magic!!!

I definitely think I'm leaning towards money for the oldest...he may not use it in Disney, but whatever.

In the room at night sounds good. I'm sure I can get that worked out. At least the youngest would believe it!

Good thinking! Bribery!!! I like it!

Thanks for the two cents!!! The bag of coal isn't the worst idea in the world! Teenagers really try your patience!!!!! Yeah...he would be tough daily...:confused3

If I pretty much have the stuff ready ahead of time and keep it in a suitcase or whatever out of sight, it should be easy to quickly get out and put on the table each day on the way out. That's not a bad idea! I definitely don't think the oldest will be doing autographs this time around, but I could be surprised. If he does, he can use the money he gets to buy one.

The pretzels will be great. I was actually thinking about them. Even if they don't eat them while we are there, they can have them on the plane ride home.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks! I think I will go with the favorite character thing. It's kind of like Disney Santa! I think I will feel the oldest out to see if he plans on pin trading or anything. He may not spend any money there??

I think the youngest will be the most excited and surprised! The middle will like getting a gift, just not be so surprised. And, the oldest will probably show little emotion! (It isn't cool to get excited over Disney stuff...what would the girls think?) We don't have a Disney store near us...I am going to check online though. Thanks!

Yeah...they like to buy a lot of stuff. So, maybe having a gift would keep them from "needing" so much!!??

You are right...it will be a lot of work to do it daily...
I think I will make it from a character for sure. I just have to decide if it will all come from Mickey or Tink or each one's favorite. We will see!

Thank you all for your input! I knew I could count on you guys to help me out!!!

Well, with only 80 days to go, I figured it was time to start thinking about what to do for a countdown at home. I had all of my paintchips and poster board for some time now and was just not sure what I was going to do with them. I have my ticker on here that I can see on a daily basis, but I wanted something for the kids, too! I wanted something for them to do to be involved in counting down. So, I had made the trip to Home Depot last month and got about 100 paintchips. (A bit too much and premature since I just made the countdown!!) But, it was a start...at least I had my supplies for when I got around to it! Now, my thought was that I would take the poster board and cut it in the shape of a bigger Mickey head. Then, each day we could add a numbered paint chip to the poster board until we left and hopefully that would be enough to cover the whole head. I think it was a decent idea. There were just a couple of things I was worried about...

1. Will we run out of room for paint heads before we leave and have to go on top of others?

2. Will there be too much room and we'll be left with half an empty head?

3. Is it better to take away or add chips as you go?

So, I was back to the drawing board! I then was thinking: how could I make it even more interactive?

Well, I decided adding little Disney trivia questions would be a great way. Then I expanded on that and decided to give a Disney dollar for each correct answer. After combining all of my ideas and thoughts, this is what I came up with:

miscagain080.jpg

The large Mickey head has the paint chips numbered down from 71 to be pulled off each day (well 70 now since 71 was taken off last night). On the back of each head is a question I made up and wrote there. Whoever gets the answer right will be noted by myself. By the end, there will be no chips left on the head. We wrote "Time 4 Disney" on the large poster board head. So, that's what we will see when we get it all uncovered. Each kid has the chance to get about the same amount of Disney Dollars. I made the questions all easy enough for Poot to answer (I'm hoping). They will be on a rotating schedule. If a kid doesn't know the answer on their night, it goes to the next and then if they don't know it, it goes to the next. For example, last night Poot got the first chip. He didn't know it (there goes the thinking they were all so easy). I asked it to Lulu. She didn't know it. Gwad ended up getting it right. So, that's one Disney Dollar for him. Tonight is Lulu's turn to try first. If she doesn't know it, Gwad gets a shot and if he doesn't know it, it goes to Poot.

Anyway, it was a cute project for Lulu, Poot and I to do together. So, I'm happy with it!

Somebody may be stealing your idea... :rolleyes1

Not the trivia part, or the dollar a head part, but the chips on a large Mickey head part for sure!

who could it be...

P.S. - Poot looks so proud!

What a great idea

Love the trivia questions

Sure kids will have a blast doing that :thumbsup2

wow that is wonderful!!!

Did you cut all those mickeys out of the backing or were you able to remove them without trouble?!

Can't wait to hear updates about their disney trivia quest!!!

Awesome idea! Sorry I missed the post about gift ideas, don't know where I was!!! But it looks like you got tons of help on that, so no need for me to put on my cape and swoop in with ideas now.
I want to do gift bags for my travel mates but can't post about it on my PTR cauuse they are lurking!!
I think the Disney trivia question is such a cool idea. You're such a fun mommy!

OMG what a GREAT idea!! You have me wanting to do that for me and my DH even though we don't have any kids :rotfl:

I totally love your count down!! How cute and creative. I thought about trying to do one starting at 60 days, but it's just DH and I and I would know all the answers since I would be making it. My other thought was to just do one of those simple construction paper chains. My brother and I used to do them when we were younger to countdown to holidays.

Go ahead! It was a cheap enough countdown! Poster board was only about $1...and the paintchips were free :rolleyes1

Thanks! They are doing it each night after dinner. Lulu got hers right last night. So, it's Gwad $1, Lulu $1, Poot $0. He'll get there! They are rushing to the countdown each night though to see what the question is!

The trivia idea is great. Make them think, make them work :)

Haha! Thanks! That was my theory...EARN IT!

Love the countdown!

Thanks! We had fun making it!

Yep...I cut them all out. Lulu has dance 2 times a week for an hour and a half each night. It is like 25 minutes from our house, so I stay there. I just did it while I waited for her.

So far Poot is the only one that has $0! :sad2: He will catch up!

Awww....that's ok! We got the gift idea all ironed out...I think!

Ha! Yeah...you don't want snoopers!!!

Thanks a bunch! :flower3:

OMG what a GREAT idea!! You have me wanting to do that for me and my DH even though we don't have any kids :rotfl:

Thanks! You should do it! You could make it and each split the heads in half and make up questions for the other. Then, instead of giving each other Disney Dollars for each correct question...get each other some sort of special gift while you are there. You will get all the questions right anyway since you are Disney experts! Plus, then you will have something really special that DH picked out just for you from this trip...and he would have the same from you. Helps keep the memory of the trip alive! No need for kids!

You could do it with DH...each make half the questions if he would be willing! That way you could answer some, too! But, I LOVE the paper chain idea! That sounds so cute! Would you add a link each day, or take one away? I think that idea is adorable! Whatever you do, take pix and post them!

omg you are just full of great ideas, aren't you!? I love it!! I'm SO gonna make my calendar this weekend! DH will think I'm nuts but that is nothing new. :rotfl:
